HOT CHOCOLATE

I still don’t know who first
discovered Cocoa or the many
wonders that have come of it,

but on cold nights and sad days,

I say a special thank you to
all the wonderful people who
thought to give something so bitter,
a chance at spreading so much
sweetness.

PENNYWISE...

Shopping is one of the most
transient and futile
attempts at happiness.

Yet on the days when money is
not the cause of my woes,

I still find myself with shopping
bags filled with clothes I absolutely
do not need,

shoes I have nowhere to wear to,

a new list of items I now need
and a sudden realization that
money now tops the list of
my worries.

BEACHES

And even though they don’t heal them,
there is a way scars throb less under
dark skies.

There is a beauty that’s found in
slippery salty sands;

And a nostalgia that’s walking
sandals in hand,

the ocean kissing your feet,

as you pay homage to worries
you can’t help,

And memories you can’t outrun,
however hard you try.
