Shawn's Side {17}

“Are you guys ready to go?” I called.

“Yea!” Nina, Shane, and Luna all called at the same time.

They came downstairs and we all put our shoes on. We went out and got in the car. I drove us to the venue and we got out, joining the line that had formed from the door down to the parking lot.

A few minutes later, the door to the venue swung open and kids began to pile in, handing off their tickets and getting their hands stamped and marked. We stepped up, and the security put an “x” on each of our hands, announcing that we were too young to be ordering drinks.

“Do you guys want to look at merch? We can buy shirts now while the lines are down,” I offered with a shrug.

We went up and bought tour shirts, changing and hooking our other shirts in our belt loops. We made our way over towards the stage.

“Let’s stay up here for the first band, and move down during the second band,” Shane offered. We all nodded.

“Okay, tell me one more time. Who’s all here tonight?” Nina asked me, taking my hand in hers.

“Of Fortune and Fame, Anarbor, The Downtown Fiction, and We The Kings,” I reminded her.

(A.N.- I don’t know lolololol that was the last line up I saw)

The first band came on, the lights going down and our bodies pressed against the upper level rail. The music started and I smiled a little, still holding Nina’s hand.

When Anarbor came on, we shifted and moved down into the pit with a crowd of kids. I held Nina’s hand tightly, determined not to get separated from her when the mosh pit started up.

Anarbor began to play, and kids slammed into each other. As a kid knocked me sideways, I couldn’t help but smile. There was nothing I loved more than feeling the vibrations from the drums, sweaty and exhausted kids slamming into each other, and overly loud music. In short, a concert.

“It’s a sin to keep her begging for more!” the band screamed.

“BANG! BANG!” we kids shouted in response.

Someone slammed into me as the chorus started up, and I lost my grip on Nina’s hand. The crowd pulled her away from me, towards the left side of the pit.

I fought my way through the crowd, grabbing Nina and holding me to her. I kissed her deeply and smiled.

“Shane and Luna are at the front!” I screamed over the noise.

“How are we going to get all the way up there?” she screamed back, looking at Shane and Luna. They were pressed right up against the bars separating them from the stage.

I wrapped my arms around her waist and kissed the side of her neck. “Just trust me. They’ll move for a girl,” I called.

I moved forward, guiding Nina and managing our way up to the front. She slipped up next to Shane, and then some fat kid stepped in front of me. Nina turned and frowned deeply as I tried to get by the kid, failing.

“Hey!” I called. He glanced at me. I pointed at Nina. “Look, she’s my girlfriend. Can I please get up there with her?”

The kid glanced at her before shrugging and letting me by him. I wrapped my arms around Nina’s waist and smiled, kissing her. “Told you,” I said as the band quieted down and shifted off the stage.

The Downtown Fiction took the stage and we cheered as they started playing, Cameron dancing and making Nina and Luna cheer louder and giggle.

At the end, Kyle threw his drumsticks. Surprising us, I caught one, and Shane caught the other. Nina and Luna cheered and kissed us as we grinned and stuffed them down our pants for safe keeping.

I put my arms back around Nina as we waited for We The Kings. I kissed her and rested my chin on her shoulder.

“I’m going to get you a pick,” I promised her, kissing her cheek.

She smiled widely. “I love you, Shawn Aaron Jarvis,” she said, putting her hands over mine.

I smiled at her softly. “I love you too. I want this to be the best night ever. I promise I will get you a pick.”

It was a few minutes before We The Kings came onstage. We cheered and laughed as Travis talked. The band played and when Travis threw the pick, I made sure I fought some kid to get it. I stuffed in it my pocket, pretending I didn’t have it.

“I’ll get one,” I promised Nina when I wrapped my arms back around her. She giggled and kissed me.

When the show ended, we left the venue. I pulled Nina over to the side of the building and pulled the pick out of my pocket, smiling as I handed it to her.

“Shawn, I love you,” she cried, wrapping her arms around my neck. I laughed and hugged her back, kissing her deeply.

I took her hand and we went back over to Shane and Luna. “Guys, we can’t end the night like this!” I cried as we got in the car.

“Well, where do you want to g-g-go?” Shane asked curiously.

I shrugged as I pulled the drum stick out of my pants and put it in the glove compartment. “Anywhere, as long as it’s fun,” I said.

“Let’s go to Taco Bell,” Luna offered with a shrug. We all nodded and I started up the car and drove us to Taco Bell.

We went inside, ordered, got out food, and sat down together. “Okay, who was everyone’s favorite out there? I personally love Anarbor,” I said with a smirk.

“We The Kings,” Shane and Luna said with a nod.

“The Downtown Fiction,” Nina said and smiled, resting her head on my shoulder. I wrapped my arm around her waist and kissed her forehead.

I bit in to my taco and swallowed it before speaking again. “I think we should do that more often. Concerts there are cheap, and fun as hell.” The others nodded eagerly.

We ate and joked around, repeating things Travis from We The Kings had said. He was one hell of a funny dude.

“You’ll look at your best friend and be like ‘What the fuck is he talking about’,” Shane said and we laughed.

We threw out our trash and got back in the car. I dropped Luna off before heading towards Nina’s house. I pulled into her driveway.

Nina leaned over and kissed me deeply. “Let’s hang out tomorrow,” she said with a smile. I nodded and hugged her before she got out of the car. I left and drove me and Shane home, happy with the way the night had gone and excited for tomorrow.
