Shawn's Side {14}
“Shawn, school’s almost over! We’re not l-leaving,” Shane hissed and grabbed my arm as I went to put my hand up.
“Shane! Come on; I ask to go to the bathroom and leave. It’s that simple. I’m so bored!” I whisper-whined.
“Shawn, just sit there like a good boy!” Shane said, rolling his eyes and releasing my arm. He watched me carefully to make sure I wouldn’t raise it.
I pouted and suffered until the bell rang, releasing us from the hell known as high school. I jumped up and grabbed Shane’s hand. “Peace out mother fucker!” I screamed and dragged Shane out of the room before I got detention.
“Shawn!” Shane said, shaking his head and sighing.
I grinned and we went to our lockers and got the stuff we needed before going into the main lobby and meeting up with Luna, Nina, and Type. I wrapped my arms around Nina and kissed her deeply, excited that it was finally Friday.
She laughed when I pulled away and took my hand in hers. “Someone’s excited for it to be Friday,” she said jokingly. I smiled widely and kissed her again before we left the school and made our way down to the student parking lot.
We got in the car and I blasted Let’s Get It’s song “Miilennium Falker (Stay Up)”, pumped for the sleepover tonight. Shane drove to our house and we jumped out of the car when we got there and made our way inside.
Uncle Chris glanced at us from the kitchen table and smirked, his youngest son, Jeremy, sitting on his lap. “Hey brats,” he greeted and Shane and I rolled our eyes.
“Hi Uncle Chris. Hi Jeremy,” we said at the same time.
“Daddy, that’s weird,” Jeremy whispered and Chris laughed and nodded, ruffling Jeremy’s hair. “Yea, well, the twins are weird,” he said and grinned at us as we pouted.
“What are you doing here?” I asked curiously.
“What? I can’t invite my best friend but you guys can invite yours?” dad asked, coming out with lemonade and glasses. He slid them to Chris and raised an eyebrow at me and Shane.
“Dad, you don’t have friends. You’re lame,” I said, rolling eyes and shoving him.
“Oh, you’re one to talk,” he said and playfully shoved me back.
“Yea, I am!” I said and he put me in a headlock. We began to wrestle and the others watched us in amusement.
Dad pinned me to the ground and grinned at me. “I’m sorry, who’s lame?” he asked innocently as I struggled to stand back up.
“You are!” I cried and he tightened his grip on me. “Fine! I am!” I whined with a pout.
He laughed and stood up, holding his hand out to me and pulling me back to my feet. He ruffled me hair and gave me a joking shove towards my friends before sitting down across from Chris.
“Benjamin Robert Jarvis, are you really going to let your two handsome young sons have girls stay over in their rooms tonight? Ben, Ben, Ben. Did you forget whose offspring they are?” Uncle Chris asked.
“Uh…well, I hope they’re my offspring considering the fact that they happen to look exactly like me,” dad said, rolling his eyes. “And Ali and I are letting them do this because we trust the boys.”
Chris exploded into laughter. “Ben, I wouldn’t even let my 4 year old have a girl stay over in his room. Like father like son,” he said with a wink at us.
“Oh believe me. The apple fell very far from the tree,” I said and nodded at Shane. Shane hit me jokingly and we laughed and slung our arms around each other.
“Let’s go upstairs,” I said to the other three. They nodded and we waved at Chris, dad, and Jeremy before making our way up to our bedroom.
“So what exactly are we going to do tonight?” Nina asked brightly and we all shrugged.
Shane looked around our bedroom and frowned to himself. “Shawn, we should sleep in the basement. Our room is too small,” he said and I nodded in agreement.
We went in the basement and set up the air mattresses before getting some food and drinks. We hung out in the basement, talking and laughing. We played games and watched movies until everyone had fallen asleep.
I was lying awake next to Nina, staring at the ceiling and unable to sleep. Nina placed her hand on my arm and gave me a questioning look.
“Can’t sleep?” she whispered and I shook my head and sighed, kissing her.
She rested her head on my chest sleepily. “Try to go to sleep Shawn. I love you,” she whispered, turning and kissing me before closing her eyes.
I wrapped my arms around her and smiled softly. I looked around at my brother and his girlfriend and my best friend. This was the good life. My girlfriend, brother, and best friend all here with me.
I closed my eyes sleepily and smiled to myself. “I love you too Nina,” I mumbled and smiled a little wider, liking the sound of those words.
