Vincent and the Time Lords

Is this a good choice? ;)

-----

It had been exactly two weeks since the Stone regenerated. Two weeks of the Doctor teasing, pouting, moaning and being overly protective of his wife. That was until she suggested a trip to museé d'Orsay for Amelia Pond the Scottish girl who was still getting used to the redhead Time Lady that liked to wear a dark blood red buttoned up shirt, thick black tights (because the Doctor almost exploded the TARDIS when he looked up to talk to the Time Lady when he was fixing underneath the console) black boots with red laces matching her shirt, a black skirt and sometimes a red leather jacket because she thought it looked 'ecstatic' somehow she believed that the look of almost all black with a red buttoned up shirt worked and that wasn't even mentioning the dark red beanie she became quite fond of, surprisingly the whole outfit worked well on her, then again they always did.

Amy was getting used to the lack of ready salted crisp packets lying around the library and kitchen, as well as the lack of bacon which the Stone seemed to have traded in for ice cream, mostly cookie dough ice cream.

Neither the Doctor or Amy Pond knew if the ice cream was post-regeneration or not.

"It's still not fair." The Doctor pouted watching the Time Lady who insisted on piloting the TARDIS after he was four months late when they went to the Trojan Gardens. Instead of arriving in the hight of summer they found themselves in the depths of winter where the Stone suddenly realised that her current body wasn't used to the cold as much as her others.

"Sweetheart it's been two weeks four hours and 23 seconds please can you stop your moaning about my hair now it's getting quite boring." She rolled her eyes making Amy giggle from where she stood, watching the Time Lady pull a lever.

"But it's not fair!" He protested throwing his arms around like a child. "Twice!" He screeched. "You get to be ginger twice and I don't get to be it at all!"

"Doctor it's really just hair." She rolled her eyes again and walked around the console to stand in front of him. "It isn't like I picked it and I can't exactly change it."

"You picked what you looked like with your second self." He mumbled pouting.

"That's because unlike you I accept and take what is offered to me instead of moaning about it, you think the Time Lords were just going to let you pick any face." She snorted.

"No, but I didn't think you would pick to be ginger."

"You know I enjoy to tease you, sweetheart."

"A little too much." He grumbled.

"Doctor you're nine hundred and seven not two hundred stop acting like a young grumbling Time Lord that can't get their own way." She rolled her eyes at him for a third time that day and shook her head while Amy snorted at them. "And now we're here." She beamed taking the Doctors hand.

"Where are we?" Amy asked.

"Go and find out." The Stone grinned watching the Scottish girl run out of the doors.

---------------------------------------------------------

"Thanks for bringing me." Amy beamed at the Time Lords, the three of them were looking around at all of Van Gogh's artwork.

"You're welcome." The Doctor smiled.

"You're being so nice to me." Amy eyed them both. "Why are you being so nice to me?"

"We're always nice to you." The Doctor protested.

"Not like this." She shook her head. "These places you're taking me. Arcadia, the Trojan Gardens, now this. I think it's suspicious."

"What? It's not." He quickly denied. "There's nothing to be suspicious about."

"Okay, I was joking." Amy frowned as they turned around the Stone narrowing her eyes at the Doctor who looked at her sheepishly. "Why aren't you?"

"Each of these pictures now is worth tens of millions of pounds, yet in his lifetime he was a commercial disaster." The guide informed the tourists. "Sold only one painting, and that to the sister of a friend. We have here possibly the greatest artist of all time, but when he died you could sell his entire body of work and got about enough money to buy a sofa and a couple of chairs. If you follow me now."

"Who is it?"

"It's the doctor." Frowning the Doctor turned around seeing two young boys looking up at a portrait of Doctor Gachet. "He was the doctor who took care of Van Gogh when he started to go mad."

"I knew that." The other one protested quickly following the other.

"Look. There it is." Amy held up a matching picture in her Van Gogh guide holding it beside the painting of the Church of Auvers. "The actual one."

"Yes. You can almost feel his hand painting it right in front of you, carving the colours into shapes." The Doctor nodded before frowning. "Wait a minute."

"What?" Amy questioned looking at him seeing the same frown on the Stones face.

"Well, just look at that." She muttered leaning in a little.

"What?"

"Something very not good indeed." He nodded agreeing with the tone of her voice.

"What thing very not good?" Amy asked looking between them.

"Look there, in the window of the church." He pointed at a dragon-like image in the window looking out at them.

"Is it a face?" Amy asked.

"Yes." The Stone winced. "And not a nice face at all."

"We know evil when we see it and we see it in that window." He nodded at it before rushing over to the guide, the Stone's arm still linked in his.

"...It has changed hands for something in the region of twenty-"

"Excuse me. If I can just interrupt for one second. Sorry, everyone." He apologised holding out his psychic paper. "Routine inspection, Ministry of Art and Artiness. So, er..."

"Doctor Black."

"Yes, that's right." The Doctor nodded. "Do you know when that picture of the church was painted?"

"Ah, well, ah, well, what an interesting question. Most people imagine-"

"I'm going to have to hurry you." The Doctor cut him off. "When was it?"

"Exactly?" Doctor Black raised a brow.

"As exactly as you can." The Stone smiled.

"Without a long speech, if possible. We're in a hurry."

"Rude and not ginger." The Stone telepathically sang to him.

"I hate you."

"Because that is totally why we're United sweetheart." She mentally rolled her eyes at him.

"Well, in that case, probably somewhere between the first and third of June."

"What year?" The Stone asked.

"1890. Less than a year before, before he killed himself."

"Thank you, sir. Very helpful indeed." She nodded.

"Nice bow tie." The Doctor grinned. "Bow ties are cool."

"Yours is very."

"Oh, thank you." The Doctor grinned. "Keep telling them stuff. We need to go." He informed Amy.

"What about the other pictures?" She questioned.

"Art can wait. This is life and death. We need to talk to Vincent Van Gogh." He said rushing out with the Stone.

---------------------------------------------------------

The three stepped out of the TARDIS in a narrow alleyway in the night.

"Right, so, here's the plan." The Doctor started to walk off down the cobbled path his arm linked with the Time Lady's. "We find Vincent and he leads us straight to the church and our nasty friend."

"Easy peasy." Amy nodded at them.

"No, not really." The Stone winced. "I'm going to take a guess and suspect nothing will be easy with Vincent Van Gogh."

"Now, he'll probably be in the local cafe." The Doctor cut in nodding. "Sort of orangey light, chairs and tables outside." The Stone sniggered looking up from the exhibition guidebook Amy was staring at and the cafe in front of them.

"Like this?" Amy asked holding the guide closer to the Time Lady.

"That's the one." The Doctor nodded not catching on.

"Oh yes definitely." The Stone giggled.

"Or indeed like that." The Scottish girl blinked noticing what the Time Lady was laughing at.

"Yeah, exactly like that." The Doctor grinned walking up to who he guessed to be the manager.

"Good evening. Does the name Vincent Van Gogh ring a bell?"

"Don't mention that man to me." He grumbled quickly retreating back inside the cafe.

The Stone frowned a little, she knew that people didn't exactly adore the man after coming around here earlier on a couple regenerations back but to sound that annoyed at the mention of his name was another thing. "Excuse me." She smiled at one of the waitresses. "Do you know Vincent Van Gogh?"

"Unfortunately."

"Unfortunately?" Amy questioned frowning.

"He's drunk, he's mad and he never pays his bills."

"Nothing's wrong with being mad." The Stone muttered crossing her arms.

The Doctor fondly shook his head at her before turning to the waitress. "Good painter, though, eh?" The waitress and another nearby then burst out laughing making the Doctor grab a chair and let the Stone sit down before grabbing another for himself, sitting beside her.

"Come on! Come on!" They heard a voice from inside the cafe. "One painting for one drink. That's not a bad deal." The male voice begged while the Time Lords eyes lit up grinning at each other, Amy who stood by another table gaped at them as the manager holding a small portrait walked out with a ginger man with a small beard followed.

"It wouldn't be a bad deal if the painting were any good." He scoffed at Vincent. "I can't hang that up on my walls. It'd scare the customers half to death. It's bad enough having you in here in person, let alone looming over the customers day and night in a stupid hat." The Stone gaped at the manager before quickly closing her mouth glaring, she had been torn between a straw hat or a beanie a couple of days ago until Amy found a lovely dark beanie for her, that completely threw the competition away with the beanie obviously winning first place. "You pay money or you get out."

"I'll pay if you like." The Stone shrugged.

"What?" The manager blinked.

"Well, you insulted a perfectly good hat." She narrowed her eyes at him. "But I'll let it slide since I quite like my beanie but anyways enough about my hat I said I'll pay if you like. For the drink of course."

"Or we'll both pay for the painting and you can use the money to pay for the drink." The Doctor grinned at the Time Lady who nodded.

"Exactly who are you?" Vincent looked between them.

"Oh, we're... new in town." The Doctor shrugged.

"Well, in that case, you don't know three things." He looked at the Doctor. "One, I pay for my own drinks, thank you." There was a round of laughter which quickly subsided after the Stone turned her head shooting the waitresses glares. "Two, no one ever buys any of my paintings or they would be laughed out of town. So if you want to stay in town, I suggest you keep your cash to yourself. And three, your friend's cute," Amy's eyes widened before she grinned, "but you should keep your big noses out of other people's business." He then turned to the manager again. "Come on, just one more drink. I'll pay tomorrow."

"No."

"Or, on the other hand, slightly more compassionately, yes?"

"Or, on the other hand, to protect my business from madmen, no."

The Stone grumbled again crossing her arms really wondering why being at all mad was an issue. "Or?" Vincent raised a brow.

"Oh look, just shut up, the pair of you," Amy grumbled stepping forward, the Time Lords smirked watching whatever was happening before them. "I would like a bottle of wine, please," She looked at the manager then at Vincent. "Which I will then share with whomever I choose."

"That could be good." Vincent slowly nodded.

"That's good by me."

"Good."

----------------------------------------------

"The way they're looking at each other." The Stone whispered to the Doctor. "It's strange with no Rory."

"I know you miss him, dear." The Doctor whispered taking her hand and lightly squeezing. "He was your companion after all." He softly kissed the back of her hand and stood up helping her up grinning at the soft smile on her face before they followed Amy and Vincent inside.

---------------------------------------------------------

"That accent of yours." Vincent frowned sitting on one side of the table while the Doctor, Stone and Amy sat on the other. "You from Holland like me?" He questioned.

"Yes." The Doctor instantly replied just as Amy answered with a "no"

"She means yes." The Doctor cut in the Stone shaking her head at the Doctor. "So, start again." The Doctor grinned. "This is my beautiful wife the Stone." He broadly smiled wrapping an arm around the Time Lady who rolled her eyes. Ever since she commented on how older she looked compared to her previous self he had reminded her at every opportunity he got that she was beautiful, gorgeous and of course brilliant. (Not that the last had anything to do with what she looked like.) No matter how much it was slightly annoying her at times where he overdid it a little more she found it quite adorable and sweet even if she wasn't complaining about looking older than before and was actually just making a statement out of it. At least now she could tease him a little more when anything to do with Amy's comment about him looking nine. "And I'm the Doctor." He smiled sticking out his free hand for Vincent to shake

"I knew it!" he protested leaning back completely ignoring his hand while the Doctor reeled back to rest on the arm of his seat.

"Sorry?"

"My brother's always sending doctors, but you won't be able to help." He shook his head.

"Oh, no, not that kind of doctor." He chuckled. "That's incredible, don't you think, Amy?"

"Absolutely." She nodded. "One of my favourites."

"One of my favourite whats?" Vincent quickly caught on questioning her. "You've never seen my work before."

"Ah yes." She nodded thinking of an excuse. "One of my favourite paintings that I've ever seen, generally."

"Then you can't have seen many paintings, then." He sighed eyeing the painting in hand. "I know it's terrible. It's the best I can do." He then frowned. "Your hair's orange."

"Yes." Amy nodded leaning on the table as he did. "So's yours." The Doctor huffed rolling his eyes wondering why he agreed with the Time Lady to ever take Amy to that exhibition.

"Oh, sweetheart." She rolled her eyes patting his shoulder. "At least your married to someone who is ginger eh?"

"There is that." He grinned before frowning slightly seeing the way Vincent was looking at Amy, almost studying her.

"Yes. It was more orange, but now is, of course, less."

"This is weird." The Stone whispered to the Doctor. "Almost wrong in a sense."

"Tell me about it, dear." He replied then straightened himself in the chair feeling slightly uncomfortable. "So. Er, Vincent, painted any churches recently?" He questioned making the man snap out of his trance. "Any churchy plans? Are churches, chapels, religiously stuff like that, something you'd like to get into? You know, fairly soon?"

"Well, there is one church I'm thinking of painting when the weather is right," Vincent muttered.

"That is very good news." The Stone smiled nodding at him.

"She's been murdered!" A woman screamed making the Time Lords jump to their feet. "Help me!"

"That, on the other hand, isn't quite such good news." He pointed at the Stone grabbing her hand and running out calling over his shoulder to the ginger humans. "Come on, Amy, Vincent!"

---------------------------------------------------------

"She's been ripped to shreds!" A man cried crouching down next to a young woman who had many others standing around in shock.

"Please, let me look." The Time Lords rushed in Amy and Vincent behind them. "I'm a doctor." The Doctor crouched down while the Stones eyes widened at the sight.

"Who is it?" A woman questioned.

"Oh no, no, no." The Doctor swallowed knowing there was nothing more they could do.

"Is she dead?"

"Away, all of you vultures." A woman shouted running up pushing past people. "This is my daughter. Giselle. What monster could have done this?" She sobbed then snapped turning around. "Get away from her!"

The Doctor jumped back instantly holding a hand in front of the Time Lady who swallowed thickly, they knew there was nothing they could do. He knew just the rage a hurt mother could have and how dangerous it was. After the Stones own mother threatened him countless times after she had come back home whether it was her being called home personally or some fancy celebration mostly her younger siblings or cousins weddings she would always remind the Doctor without fail of how much danger he was putting the Stone in."Okay, okay."

"Get that madman out of here!" The mother shouted pointing at Vincent while the crowd started to throw items at him the Time Lords in the line of fire with stones being pelted at them. " You bring this on us. Your madness! You!" The Doctor pulled the Stone to his chest shielding her as much as possible while they escaped the line of fire with Amy and Vincent, running through a tunnel of a bridge and away from the grieving mother and locals.

"Are you all right?" The Doctor panted to Vincent after checking the Stones face and kissing her forehead seeing no sight of marks from being hit.

"Yes, I'm used to it." He nodded doubled over holding his knees and breathing heavily.

"Has anything like this murder happened here before?" The Stone questioned.

"Only a week ago." He said thinking back. "It's a terrible time."

"As we thought." The Doctor nodded "As we thought... Come on, we'd better get you home."

"Where are you staying tonight? "

"Oh, you're very kind." The Doctor grinned while the Stone rolled her eyes at him not able to say anything but smile at how well he jumped into the situation.

---------------------------------------------------------

"Dark night." The Doctor hummed in the courtyard. "Very starry."

"It's not much. I live on my own." Vincent shrugged. "But you should be okay for one night." He said then repeated himself to emphasise his point. "One night."

"We're going to stay with him?" Amy whispered to the Time Lords.

"Until he paints that church." The Doctor nodded.

"Or until he has enough of the Doctor bouncing around the place." The Time Lady smirked knowing he would get very bored if Vincent didn't pain the church soon, dear Rassilon how was he going to cope waiting for Vincent to finish painting?

Vincent went inside and spoke over his shoulder. "Watch out. That one's wet."

"What?" Amy frowned.

"Ah, the bedroom in Arles." The Stone smiled. "I never enjoyed paintings that much." She shrugged. "Books were always my kind of thing."

"Sorry about all the clutter." He apologised to the Doctor.

"Some clutter." He muttered eyeing the many paintings scattered around.

"I've come to accept the only person who's going to love my paintings is me."

"Wow." Amy gaped walking inside. "I mean, really. Wow."

"Yeah, I know it's a mess." He sighed. "I'll have a proper clear-out. I must, I really must."

"Coffee, anyone?" Vincent offered, holding a coffee pot.

"Not for me, actually." The Doctor shook his head.

"I'm more of a tea person." The Stone hummed her eyes lightly widening seeing the mark now on the painting the pot was on. "You should really be more careful with those painting." She raised a brow eyeing the stain. "They're precious."

"Precious to me." He muttered. "Not precious to anyone else."

"They're precious to me." Amy smiled from behind the Time Lords.

"Well, you're very kind." Vincent returned the smile. "And kindness is most welcome."

"Right, so, this church, then." The Doctor cut in. "Near here, is it?"

"What is it with you and the church?" Vincent frowned eyeing the Time Lord.

"Oh, just casually interested in it, you know." he shrugged.

"Far from casual." He scoffed. "It seems to me you never talk about anything else. He's a strange one."

"He definitely is." The Stone grinned kissing the Doctors cheek. "But if you don't want to talk about the church why don't we talk about you?" She suggested. "What are you interested in?"

"Well, look around." He smiled waving his hands about. "Art. It seems to me there's so much more to the world than the average eye is allowed to see. I believe, if you look hard, there are more wonders in this universe than you could ever have dreamed of."

"You don't have to tell us." The Doctor smiled his gaze shifting to the Stone who smiled at him knowing what he was talking about.

"It's colour. Colour that holds the key. I can hear the colours." Vincent said as the Doctor sat back in a chair the Stone sitting on his lap. "Listen to them. Every time I step outside, I feel nature is shouting at me. Come on. Come and get me. Come on. Come on!" He shouted in the Doctor face. "Capture my mystery!"

"Maybe you've had enough coffee now." The Doctor suggested leaning back as far as possible. "How about some nice calming tea?" He suggested the Stones eyes brightening as she jumped off him. "Let's get you a cup of chamomile or something, shall we? Amy." he blinked. "Where's Amy?"

Suddenly they heard a scream that the Time Lords knew matched the ginger Scottish girls, "No, no, no!" The Doctor cried running out the door into the courtyard, the Stone right behind him running right up to Amy who sat on the ground looking completely terrified.Amy? Amy?" He looked at her panicked. "What happened?"

"I don't know." She shook her head clutching onto the Time Lady who crouched down to her rubbing circles on the Scottish girls back trying to calm her down. "I didn't see it. I was having a look at the paintings out here when something hit me from behind."

"It's okay." The Stone calmly cut in with a soothing tone. "Whatever it was is gone now and we're here."

"No! No!" Vincent cried backing up.

The Doctor looked at him alarmed standing up. "Take it easy. Take it easy!"

"What's happening?" Amy asked standing up with the Time Lady. "What's he doing?"

"I don't know." The Stone frowned. "Vincent...?" She spoke softly stepping towards him only for her eyes to widen seeing the man grab a pitchfork pointing it right at her. "Oh, dear..." she swallowed as Vincent charged towards her, the Doctor and Amy. Screaming and running right Amy got out the way while the Doctor jumped back pulling the Stone into his arms holding her tightly.

"Run," Vincent shouted waving at them. "Run!"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah." The Doctor nodded. "That's not a bad idea. Amy, get back. He's having some kind of fit. I'll try to calm him down." Vincent started to then stab at the air. "Easy, Vincent, easy. Look. Look, look, look. It's me, it's me, it's me." He said while the Stone quickly went over to stand beside Amy. "It's the Doctor, look. No-one else is here." The Time Lady's eyes widened seeing a couple of barrels and crates get knocked over. "So, Vincent-"

"Look out!" Vincent shouted.

"Doctor!" The Stone shouted seeing him go flying backwards. She ran over to him cupping his cheek with a hand before he sat up and looked over seeing part of a painting being ripped and Amy screaming at the sight.

"I can't see anything," Amy said staring at the hole in the painting. "What is it?"

"That is a good question." The Doctor jumped up quickly kissing the Stones cheek before grabbing a wooden pole. "Let me help you."

"You can see him, too?" Vincent questioned stabbing the air and snapping his head in different directions.

"Yes." He nodded. "Ish. Well, no. Not really." He then was sent flying again while the Stone rolled her eyes, she knew he was perfectly fine this time as he laid at Vincent's feet.

"You couldn't see him?" Vincent asked.

"No." He shook his head jumping up and grabbing the stick again. "No. Oi!" He ran to a stone wall standing in front of where the invisible monster was when it hit him and began to swing at it furiously while Vincent plunged his pitchfork into the invisible enemy. The Stone giggled and slowly walked over to the stone wall careful not to get in the Doctors fire and then leant against the wall. Amy began to giggle watching the sight while Vincent frowned.

"Stone move!" The Doctor shouted between pants. "I'll scare it away from you!"

"Sweetheart it's gone." She fondly shook her head her arms crossed leaning against the wall while he panted leaning partly on the wooden pole.

"Did you do that just to keep watching me make an idiot out of myself?" He questioned between breaths.

"Of course not." She sarcastically scoffed walking up to him. "I thought it was quite brave and sweet that you put yourself at risk for me." She smiled wrapping her arms around his neck. "Just please don't go trying to hit invisible monsters or do that again."

"Yes dear." He smiled before softly kissing her his arms on her waist tugging her closer towards him quite enjoying how much this incarnation of herself enjoyed hugging, kissing and even flirting with him, much more than her previous self especially when they have forgotten they were in public giving the Doctor opportunity to tell the universe that she was his wife. "You thought I was brave?" He smugly smiled after they separated her arms loosely around his neck.

"Very." She grinned at him looking deep into his eyes the two of them staying there for a moment before hearing Amy lightly coughing making them both jump.

---------------------------------------------------------

"Right. So he's invisible." The Doctor said pacing around Vincent's house. "What did he look like?"

"I'll show you." He started to paint over a bunch of violets. Amy let out a squeaking while the Stone gasped.

"Oh, no, no. No, no!" The Doctor cried.

"What?" He frowned.

"It's just er, that was quite a good." He shook his head waving a hand. "Oh, no. On you go."

Shrugging Vincent proceeded to draw on the white paint after it dried. The Stone rolled her eyes at the Doctor who wouldn't sit still, that was until she sat on him stopping the Time Lord from going anywhere. Of course, she then started to get restless but she was never anywhere near as restless as he got. "Okay. Okay. Right." He nodded standing up with the Time Lady once Vincent had finished stepping away from his work. "Amy, make Mister Van Gogh comfortable. Don't let any invisible monsters in through the front door."

"But it could be outside, waiting." She protested as the Stone picked up the painting tilting it a little wondering what the creature Vincent saw actually was, she never remembered seeing a creature look like this in any book she had read before.

"Well, don't worry." He waved off. "I'll risk it. What's the worst that can happen?"

"You could get torn into pieces by a monster you can't see."

"Oh right, yes, that." He nodded taking the Stone's hand. "Don't worry. I got the Stone." He beamed raising their entwined hands. "We'll be back before you can say where have they got to now?" The Stone rolled her eyes walking out with him before he jumped back in the room. "Not that fast!" He shouted making Amy jump. "But pretty fast."

"Come on sweetheart." The Stone rolled her eyes. "See you around Amy." She smiled pulling him away.

The Time Lords made their way back to the TARDIS, continuously looking over their shoulders trying to see any signs of the creature. "Do you hear that?" The Stone whispered to the Doctor hearing the sounds of a faint growling.

"Yeah." He whispered back taking her hand and nodding knowing what she was going to either ask or warn him about. Silently they both crept away from the house and past the creature walking in the direction of where the TARDIS was, the growling becoming more and more quieter as they went before they could freely walk towards the TARDIS.

The Doctor seeing the TARDIS in the middle of the alley where they left it took his key out and spun the Time Lady around who let out a laugh almost dropping the painting in her hand from not expecting him to spin her. "Do you even still have it?" The Stone questioned watching as the Doctor ran over to a chest starting to dig into it.

"Yes, I never got rid of it." He muttered. "Your second self was always going on about me not being grateful and accepting gifts people gave me." He fondly shook his head of the memory. I'm just pleased that this time you don't do that."

"Are you suggesting that I did that because I was ginger in my second body?"

"Of course not dear." He quickly denied muttering to himself. "You're in here somewhere? I can't apologise enough. I thought you were just a useless gadget. I thought you were just an embarrassing present from a dull godmother with two heads and bad breath." He glanced at the Time Lady who shook her head at him. "Twice. How wrong can a man be?" He then grinned finding the device which resembled in the Stones eyes as a typical human car mirror with a long tube sticking out of it before connecting to the centre with a small dial and two straps.

Placing it on the console he plugged it in and the device powered up the Doctor stuck put his tongue making a face at the mirror the Stone smiling at his reflection finding his childish ways to mostly be adorable. (That was until he started to moan about her hair.)

The mirror lit up with 'Match Found Print Ready.' The Stone reached over and hit the space bar of the typewriter and watched as a piece of paper with hers and the Doctors first incarnations slowly printed out before moving up and printing out both of their second ones.

"Nice picture don't you think dear?" He raised a brow at her.

"Yes, they are." She nodded. "I believe you could draw much better though." She grinned knowing how much he had come to enjoy drawing her.

His eyes lit up with delight. "You want me to redraw them?" He questioned.

"I don't see why not." She shrugged kissing his cheek.

"Well that can happen later... know we know it's working." He glanced at the Time Lady who held up the sketch. "Let's see what you make of this." He muttered holding it at the mirror hearing it ding.

"Well, it's not that." The Time Lady sighed seeing what had shown up. "You can see plenty of them and they're not invisible." She remarked looking at the almost transparent image of a red parrot.

The Stone then chuckled seeing a polar bear pip up. "No. Definitely not." The Doctor shook his head unimpressed. "This is the problem with the impressionists. Not accurate enough. This would never happen with Gainsborough or one of those proper painters. Sorry, Vincent. You will just have to draw something better." He tossed the painting over his shoulder then looked at the Stone hearing her squeak eyes wide. "What...?" He frowned at her.

"You can't go throwing round Vincent Van Gogh's paintings!" She screeched.

"He did draw over it dear."

"Fine, fine." She sighed pinching the bridge of her nose. At least you didn't try to boost your ego by saying your a better painter."

"Why am I not?" He sniffed.

"Sweetheart you will always be better at anything in my hearts." She smiled at him softly, taking his hand.

---------------------------------------------------------

The Time Lords left the TARDIS with the device looking as it looked closer to morning then before they entered, the Doctor wore the device on his chest with straps holding it up, the rear view mirror looking over his shoulder. The Stone shook her head watching him fiddle with the dial, an amused look on her face.

"That's better, old girl. " He smiled looking into the mirror as an image of the creature appeared. "Time delay, but you always get it right in the end." he looked at the Stone as the machine beeped.

"As I told you." She pointed out looking in the mirror while he readjusted it. "Let's find out what you are then."

"Well, well, there you are." He looked at the image similar to the one Vincent drew.

"Krafayis." The Stone muttered.

"Oh, you poor thing." The Doctor scanned the information. "You brutal, murderous, abandoned thing. I hope we meet again soon so we can take you home."

While the Doctor fiddled with the device again the Stones eyes widened seeing a beak in the mirror. "Doctor." She quietly whispered.

Hearing alarm in her voice he looked at her then the mirror his eyes widening as he grabbed her hand. "Maybe not that soon." He breathed before taking off with the Time Lady, the Krafayis screeching behind them. Adjusting the mirror to see the Krafayis while they ran the Time Lords sprinted through the village both of them attempting to slow the creature down by scattering benches and other items and objects as they ran before stopping leaning against a wall.

"Is it gone?" The Stone breathed her eyes closed.

The Doctor glanced around using the mirror before silently nodding awkwardly pulling the Time Lady to his chest kissing her forehead and then placing his head on hers for a moment their eyes closed as they attempted to regain their breath, the Doctor then looked around the corner again before jumping the Stone doing the same practically launching herself into his arms while He squeaked and Amy gasped jumping back from them.

"Never do that!" The Doctor panted. "You scared the living daylights out of us."

"Sorry." Amy winced the Stone clutching her chest. "I got bored. As much as you admire his command of colour and shape, it is hard to get fond of Vincent Van Gogh's snoring."

"Please don't go jumping around corners." The Stone panted. "We also told you to stay there, we just had to run away from the creature that could have hurt you." She protested the Doctor nodded in agreement.

After the night disappeared and became the day the Stone sat outside with Amy waiting for the Doctor to wake up Vincent, they agreed that this was a much better idea given that they had no idea how the man slept...

"Wake, wakey, rise and shine!" The Doctor grinned throwing open the door making Vincent almost jump out of bed. "Breakfast is served in the courtyard." He threw open the windows and waved down at the Stone. "Whoa! What a morning. Come on. And Amy's got a little surprise for you."

"I thought I'd brighten things up to thank you for saving me last night." Amy smiled sitting around a table, sunflowers scattered around in different pots.

"Ah." Vincent looked around, the Doctor shook his head and stood beside the Time Lady, wrapping an arm around her.

"I thought you might like, you know, possibly to perhaps paint them or something?" Amy hinted shrugging a little. "Might be a thought."

"Yes." He slowly nodded. "Well, they're not my favourite flower."

"Of course they're not." The Stone almost snorted at the thought.

"You don't like sunflowers?" Amy blinked.

"No, it's not that I don't like them." He protested. "I find them complex. Always somewhere between living and dying. Half-human as they turn to the sun. A little disgusting. But, you know, they are a challenge."

"And one I'm pretty sure you'll rise to." The Doctor chuckled. "But, moving on, there's something the Stone and I need to show you."
