The Vampires of Venice

"Sweetheart?" The Stone worryingly asked sensing something was wrong as soon as he stepped into the library with a plate of bacon with extra salt, ready salted crisps and chips with salt on them. "Whats wrong?" She placed down her bookcrossing her legs and facing him.

"I need to talk to you." The Doctor replied sounding tired, slightly angry and guilty while sitting down next to her letting the plate resting on his lap. "I thought you might like this." He nodded down at the food.

"Doctor." She sternly warned making his eyes snap up to meet hers. "Please don't try and change the subject, you know it won't ever work on me. Whats wrong?"

"Amy." He let out a breath. "She tried to kiss me." The Time Lady blinked letting the words sink in, the Doctor allowing her a moment before he continued. "She also tried to... tried to seduce me..." he said fiddling with his bowtie.

"She..." the Stone swallowed, thankful that the book she was reading was not in her hand otherwise she would have dropped it and became even angrier over that rather than what she was hearing. "When you mean seduce..." she mumbled slightly trailing off.

"Yes... she did." He shivered at the thought remembering how the redhead was practically lying on the bed thinking that he was going to join her when he was happily married.

"And when you say kiss..."

"On the lips." He quietly replied carefully watching her features not sure what she was going to do. Sure there was Rose and Martha who definitely had fallen in love with the Doctor but neither of them or any other companion attempted to kiss him, let alone tried to seduce him. "Stone..." he whispered. "Please talk to me..." he begged, placing a hand over hers.

"I don't know what to say." She muttered not looking at him for a moment. "This hasn't happened to either of us before with any companion... then again we haven't had any other companions while married before." She said in thought looking at a bookcase in the distance before focusing back on him. "Are you one hundred percent sure she was trying to seduce you, sweetheart?" She asked finally looking at him.

"She was lying on her bed thinking that I..." he shivered again snapping his mouth shut.

"We should really take her home." The Stone sighed running a hand down her face.

"Since you said 'should' I'm sensing a large 'but' coming up in your next sentence." He said giving her a pointed look knowing it was something she would definitely do, being the forgiving type.

"But." She nodded dragging the word out. "This technically is our fault, more so mine than yours."

"Your fault?" He frowned at her. "She tried to seduce me!"

"Sweetheart I know that." The Stone softly replied placing her hand on his cheek after moving the plate onto the nearby table. "I saw how she was looking at you, I never thought anything would happen out of it."

"But how is it our fault then..." he asked.

"Sweetheart, think about it, if she never came with us she would have never had that angel in her eye and would never be scared to death of dying."

"So?" He questioned wondering where the Time Lady who was scaringly calm about the situation suggested for them to do.

"We need to fix this. No arguing with Amy and no shouting, we go and get Rory-"

"How do you know it's Rory that she is marrying?" The Doctor cut in.

"After how he looked when we met him, the man was practically head over heels for the Scottish girl and that was most likely at the start of their relationship, it was going to be Rory." She laughed before becoming serious again. "We get Rory and take them somewhere to..."

"Reconnect?" He suggested.

"Yes." She nodded. "They can reconnect, we can leave them alone, they can leave us alone and everything will go back to how it was before Amy stepped foot in the TARDIS."

"You thought this all through haven't you?" He laughed at her.

"Of course I have." She grinned. "We could also go on our own date if you want, we haven't in a while."

"Yeah." He smiled. "That would be nice but how are you so calm?" He questioned now slightly frowning.

"I know you." She said seriously. "After all these centuries I know you wouldn't dare to hurt me let alone break our marriage."

"Well the fact that I love you dearly and that you would possibly murder me is a risk I'm not willing to make." He laughed yet was being very serious. "Now eat what I made for you. We can go find Rory after.

"You think I was going to let all this go to waste?" She laughed shoving a piece of bacon with a mountain of salt piled on it in her mouth. "No chance."

----------------------------------------------------------------

Rory broadly grinned standing around his friends in the middle of the pub as a large cake was wheeled out into the centre of the room. "Out. Out. Out!" Everyone cheered a couple of Rory's friends pushed the man forward as a blonde woman wearing a black blazer burst out the cake frowning as she scanned the crowd who gaped at her until she spun around and found him.

"Rory!" She broke into a broad grin. That's a relief. I thought I'd burst out of the wrong cake like the Doctor did... five times." She smiled as Rory looked shocked. "That reminds me, there's a girl standing outside in a bikini, no idea why she would be standing outside... in the cold... in... what season even is this again?" She said to herself.

"Wait!" They all then snapped their heads toward the door hearing someone shouted before a man in a tweed blazer and a red bowtie ran into the room. "Stop!" He shouted pointing at the blonde. "That's my wife!"

"Hello sweetheart lovely of you to finally join us." She smiled at him. "I was just talking about Lucy, the girl outside in a bikini... I still don't understand the reasoning of that it."

"Ah dear..." the Doctor looked at her. "You are so innocent for nine hundred and seven years old."

"You mean..." her eyes widened as he whispered into her ear the reasoning behind that. "Dear Rassilon this is almost worse than... nevermind." She quickly shut her mouth.

"Now then, Rory." The Doctor looked at the man for the first time since he walked in shouting after he shook his head at the Stone. "We need to talk about your fiancée. She tried to kiss me. And I have a wife that I love, Tell you what, though. You're a lucky man. I thought she was with the one with the laptop if Amy is anything like how I know the Stone is I'm sure she's a great kisser." He chuckled then gulped as someone dropped a glass causing it to shatter while a couple of the men gave the Doctor dirty looks. The Stone jumped out of the cake thickly swallowing as well not wanting the Doctor to get hit in the face today "Funny how you can say something in your head and it sounds fine." He whispered to the Stone.

"Yeah..." she muttered. "Perhaps I should have been the one to explain it... in private... sorry Rory he doesn't shut up." She apologised then went to walk off. "And please for Rassilons sake can you lot." She pointed to the men around the room staring at her. "Stop staring at me. I'm married and not afraid to throw the lot of you into a supernova." She innocently smiled before leaving.

"Oi!" The Doctor shouted when a group of them continued to start at her as she walked out. "If she doesn't throw you in, I will." He darkly warned.

----------------------------------------------------------------

The Doctor hung underneath the console with a couple of wires and a pair of goggles on his face, welding something while the Stone watched hanging from another, harness seat pointing out different things knowing that if she left him alone it was possible that he may blow something up. Most definitely something important.

Amy stood above them on the see-through glass nervously tapping her shoe against the floor, biting her nails and hiding from Rory, behind the time rotor wishing she could desperately get swallowed up by a hole. She never thought the Time Lords would do this, well possibly the Stone after what Amy attempted to do but for the Doctor to agree with it, and then for him to start shouting at her when the redhead went to apologise and stop them from getting Rory, he shouted even more only to be calmed down by the Stone his wife the wife of the man Amy tried to seduce.

The Doctor blinked while the Stone shot him a look after she ducked only just missing the sparks that were sprayed in her direction. "Oh, the life out there, it dazzles." He said continuing to weld. "I mean, it blinds you to the things that are important." He spoke loudly as more sparks flew everywhere making the Stone groan at him. "I've seen it devour relationships and plans." He said just before a spark flew where Rory stood, making the man yelp a little. "It's meant to do that." He reassured while the Stone hit the back of his head.

"It's really not, won't harm you though, otherwise I wouldn't let him be doing this." She reassured Rory giving him a comforting smile that he half-heartedly returned. From his view, the Time Lady was kind, much kinder than the Doctor, who blurted out about Amy attempting to kiss him in front of all of Rory's friends. The Stone, however, took him to the TARDIS kitchen gave him a warm cup of tea, sat him down and gently explained what she could to him, reassuring that this would be fixed.

"Because for one person to have seen all that, to taste the glory and then go back, it will tear you apart." The Doctor jumped out of the harness pulling the Stone up with him and letting the goggles fall around his neck.

"So, I thought." The Stone said walking up the stairs. "The Doctor and I discussed and thought that we couldn't just toss you out into a supernova." She said nodding over at Amy while Rory opened his mouth in protest. "Now I would never do that to an actual person." She scoffed as Rory let out a breath of relief. "No, I just joke about that to scare people most of the time."

"And it works." The Doctor muttered making the Time Lady laugh. "We thought and decided that we are sending you somewhere, together."

"Whoa. What, like a date?" Amy said a little shocked out of the decision, the fact that the Stone even thought to discuss this yet alone agree with this was something that shocked the redhead. Perhaps Amy did make a mistake out of this...

"Anywhere you want." The Doctor said with a smile. "Any time you want. One condition." He said with a pause trying to make the moment dramatic. "It has to be amazing. The Moulin Rouge in 1890. The first Olympic Games."

"Think of it as a wedding present, because it's either this or tokens." The Stone said frowning.

"It's a lot to take in, isn't it?" He said to Rory. "Tiny box, huge room inside. What's that about? Let me explain."

"It's another dimension," Rory answered his voice empty and tears in his eyes.

"It's basically another dimension." The Doctor said at the same time as Rory before he blinked looking at the Stone who shrugged, she hadn't mentioned it earlier thinking that the Doctor already did. "What?"

"After what happened with Prisoner Zero, I've been reading up on all the latest scientific theories. FTL travel, parallel universes."

"I like the bit when someone says it's bigger on the inside." The Doctor grimly replied sounding a little too dark. "I always look forward to that." He said before yelping as the Stone hit the back of his head. "What was that for?!" He blinked looking at the Stone.

"Sweetheart he just found out that his fiancée ran off with aliens on the night before his wedding, tried to cheat on him with one of the aliens that happened to be the same one that popped up a couple of years ago, and who Amy mentioned over and over in her childhood. He's scared for his relationship with Amy and thinks it's our fault!"

"You're right." He sighed.

"What are you doing?" Rory asked looking at the Time Lords who stared at each other.

"Oh they're telepathic," Amy replied as if it was natural for anyone, she had caught them doing it a couple of times and then finally asked the Stone while they stared at each other making weird faces every now and then. "They're talking with their minds."

"Well, what are they saying."

"Doesn't matter." The Doctor automatically answered only to be hit on the head yet again by the Stone.

"I was just telling the Doctor to not be so rude, Rory I know you blame us-"

"Him." He nodded at the Doctor.

"Him?" The Doctor frowned questioningly.

"I blame him," Rory added making it clearer.

"So" Amy loudly cut in. "This date. I'm kind of done with running down corridors. What do you think, Rory?"

"How about somewhere romantic?" The Doctor grinned spinning the Time Lady around before stopping her and kissing her hand while pulling the lever down with the other.

----------------------------------------------------------------

"Venice!" The Doctor loudly shouted widening his arms as he walked out onto the busy market. "Venezia. La Serenissima. Impossible city. Preposterous city. Founded by refugees running from Attila the Hun. It was just a collection of little wooden huts in the middle of the marsh but became one of the most powerful cities in the world. Constantly being invaded, constantly flooding, constantly just beautiful."

"Where is my ninth self when you need her." The Stone said pouting. "Now she loved Italian."

"You don't need to be your ninth self to love Italy." The Doctor protested wrapping an arm around her waist.

"Yeah, but she can tell you that it was brilliant and that you picked Venice over Paris." She laughed.

"Ah, but you got to love Venice." He remarked. "So many people did. Byron, Napoleon, Casanova. Ooo, that reminds me." He looked at his watch. "1580. That's all right. Casanova doesn't get born for a hundred and forty-five years. Don't want to run into him. I owe him a chicken."

"That's your fault." The Stone muttered pointing at him with her free hand.

"You owe Casanova a chicken?" Rory frowned.

"Long story. We had a bet." The Doctor waved him off.

"They betted over me." The Stone sighed. "There was a dance and one of my previous selves had a slight thing for Casanova, no idea why." She muttered shaking her head feeling the Doctor tense up beside her. "I had the Doctor standing right beside me almost all the time and I thought I used to like Casanova." She snorted. "I still believe it was me trying to get over you sweetheart but I didn't try anything, timelines and all that, not to mention that he's human, not that there is anything wrong with being human but, you know." She shrugged while the Doctor fondly smiled always loving when she accidentally slipped into a spree of rambling either to change the topic or because she dug herself a hole and desperately wanted to fill it back up.

"Your rambling dear." He whispered into her ear softly smiling. "It's adorable."

"Shut up." She whispered back.

"No." He laughed kissing her cheek.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa." A small man stopped them as they continued to walk. "Papers, if you please. Proof of residency, current bill of medical inspection." The Doctor smugly glanced at Amy and Rory handing his psychic paper to the man.

"There you go, fellow. All to your satisfaction, I think you'll find."

"I am so sorry, Your Holiness. I didn't realise." He bowed in apology. The Doctor playing along nodded and blessed the man who turned to the Time Lady. "I am deeply sorry your majesty." He then bowed at the Stone who blinked a little.

"No worries. You were just doing your job." He nodded then frowned. "Sorry, what exactly is your job?"

"Checking for aliens." He said making the Stone frown a little not expecting that answer. "Visitors from foreign lands what might bring the plague with them."

"Oh, that's nice. See where you two bring me?" She hissed at the Time Lords. "The Plague."

"Don't worry, Viscountess." The man nodded at Amy who tilted her head higher accepting her new title smugly smiling. "No, we're under quarantine here." The man explained. "No one comes in, no one goes out, and all because of the grace and wisdom of our patron, Signora Rosanna Calvierri."

"How interesting." The Doctor hummed glancing at the Stone who nodded. "I heard the plague died out years ago."

"Not out there. No, Signora Calvierri has seen it with her own eyes. Streets are piled high with bodies, she said."

"Did she now." The Stone glanced at the Doctor, knowing what he was thinking. Rory took the psychic paper from the man while the Time Lords wondered off. "Your majesty?" She raised a brow at the Doctor.

"The Queen." The Doctor grinned.

"Of wales?" She raised a brow eyes lighting up.

"Sadly no." He shook his head. "Queen of England."

"Such a sweetheart." She chuckled kissing his cheek.

----------------------------------------------------------------

The Time Lords found a rather large crowd, they leant against the stone railing wondering what everyone was staring at. They watched a group of girls stroll on the opposite side of the canal, white umbrellas covering the girls as they followed an older woman wearing black.

"The Calvierri girls." A young girl whispered pointing out to the girls wearing white and heavy veils.

A man then ran up throwing the veils of the woman off until he started shouting they stumbled backwards and fell to the floor as guards appeared. "Isabella, it's me!" He shouted. The Time Lords frowned the Stone seeing the look the man had on his face, she knew it all too well, the look of losing a child.

"Dear...?" The Doctor looked at her worryingly.

"I'm fine." She nodded. "Time we found out about these 'Calvierri girls' and this school." The Doctor nodded in agreement the two of then hurrying off to find the man.

---------------------------------------------------------

The Doctor and the Stone quickly caught up with the man who walked through the small street, walking past the houses as the Time Lords caught up behind him. "Who are those girls?" The Doctor questioned standing on a step poking his head out from the side of the house.

"I thought everyone knew about the Calvierri school." The man replied turning around and frowning.

"Our first day here." The Stone answered. "It's okay. Parents do all sorts of things to get their children into good schools." She nodded. "They move house, they change religion."

"So why are you trying to get her out?" The Doctor cut in frowning.

"Something happens in there." He looked at them his voice low. "Something magical, something evil. My own daughter didn't recognise me. And the girl who pushed me away, her face, like an animal."

"I think it's time I met this Signora Calvierri." The Doctor put his arm around the man.

"While you meet Signora Calvierri I think I better go find Amy and Rory." The Stone hummed in thought wondering where they had gotten up to. Mainly worried about them with the luck her and the Doctor had with trouble. "Meet you at the canal sweetheart?"

"Of course." He smiled kissing her cheek. "See you later dear."

---------------------------------------------------------

The Stone looked up from where she was strolling around looking for the two humans before she darted through the street hearing s faint scream that she heard similar to Amy's, desperately hoping that it wasn't the redheads she ran, dodging the people in the streets before coming to a halt seeing Rory kneeling beside a woman with a bite mark in her neck "Amy?" She quickly asked worried about the redhead.

"That way." He nodded in a direction.

"Stay here!" The blonde shouted over her shoulder running in the direction he nodded in only to find the redhead looking out at the canal.

"Amy!" The Stone breathed out a sigh making the woman jump, almost falling into the canal.

"What are you doing here? I thought you were with the Doctor."

"He went to go and look at that school." She answered. "I wondered what you two were getting up to and heard a scream, I thought it was you, guess not."

"Bet you hoped it was me." She muttered.

"Why?" She frowned.

"I tried to seduce the Doctor." She said as if it was as clear as day. "Your husband." She added raising both her brows as the Stone blinked at her. "The man you're married to!"

"Amy if I said you were my favourite person in the world it would be a lie." She bluntly stated. "Of course I am a little angry. But hate you enough to say... throw you into a supernova... no." She laughed.

"So you don't hate me..." She questioned.

"No." The Stone answered walking back to find Rory so he and Amy could explain what happened.

---------------------------------------------------------

"You have my daughter. Isabella!" The man the Doctor had learned to be called Guido shouted at the gates of the school.

"No, you're not coming in." The guard ordered. "Just stop there. Look, we've told you-" Ignoring anything else the guard said Guido watched out the corner of his eye as the Doctor snuck past the guards and around the water gate using his screwdriver to allow himself to enter.

"You have my daughter," Guido informed before shouting again. "Isabella! I demand you let me see my daughter."

"Go away."

"Isabella, it's me. It's your father!" He continued shaking the gate screaming.

"We will arrest you." The guard warned.

"Isabella!"

"Give it up, will you. Move off." The guard ordered. Guido then slowly walked away knowing that the Doctor successfully got inside.

---------------------------------------------------------

The Doctor jumped skipping the last stair of the staircase entering the cellar, he walked over to a mirror. "Hello, handsome." He adjusted his tie and looked at his teeth only to spin around when hearing a group of girls, creepy girls wearing white robes.

"Who are you?" They questioned in unison.

The Doctor frowned looking at the mirror and then at the girls, wishing the Stone was here to help him understand and join him in his excitement. "How are you doing that?" He asked looking to and from the mirror a few more times. "I am loving it. You're like Houdini, only five slightly scary girls, and he was shorter. Will be shorter. I'm rambling." He muttered.

"I'll ask you again, signor." The female in the middle asked. "Who are you?"

"Why don't you check this out?" The Doctor shoved what he thought to be his psychic paper in the girls face only to frown when she stared at it blankly, confused he looked at it then groaned seeing a photograph of his first self on it.

"Library card. Of course, it's with..." he gestured a long nose. "He's... I need a spare." He muttered. "Better remind my wife to remind me later... anyway pale, creepy girls who don't like sunlight and can't be seen. Ha. Am I thinking what I think I'm thinking?" He grinned "But the city. Why shut down the city? Unless..."

"Leave now, signor, or we shall call for the Steward..." they warned before smiling. "If you are lucky."

"Ooo." He smiled before stepping back after the girls hissed their k-9 teeth looking like needles. "Tell me the whole plan." He ordered backing up. Blinking he groaned seeing the girls were completely ignoring him. "One day that will work." He whispered to himself. "Listen, I would love to stay here. This whole thing. I'm thrilled. Oh, this is Christmas, just you wait until I tell my wife!" He broke into a smile running up the stairs to find the Time Lady.

---------------------------------------------------------

"Doctor!" Amy shouted noticing him. The Stone quickened her pace running into his arms as he spun her around laughing.

"Guess what I just met?" He grinned after kissing her.

"Bet it isn't as good as what Amy and Rory just saw." She laughed.

"Okay one... two... three..."

"Vampires!" They both shouted before blinking then laughing.

"We think we just saw a vampire." Rory panted running up to them as the Time Lords giddily laughed Amy looking slightly awkward seeing them looking so happy, she made a horrible mistake and was so thankful that neither of the Time Lords hated the other.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know." The Doctor waved Rory off. "The Stone was just telling me." He laughed kissing her cheek.

"Well you went to their house, well their school..." she frowned tilting her head. Dear me that reminds me of when I was on holiday and my parents still forced me to study."

"Oh. Right. Well..." Rory muttered.

"Okay. So, first, we need to get back in there somehow." The Doctor said nodding in thought the Stone doing the same.

"What?" Rory blinked not believing that he had just suggested to run into the danger.

"How do we do that?" Amy asked.

"Back to where?"

"Come and meet my new friend." The Doctor said wrapping an arm around the Stones waist, Rory followed mouth half open in the shock while Amy quickly walked behind.

---------------------------------------------------------

The four stood in Guido's house while he brought out a map of the surrounding area and placed it on the table. "As you saw, there's no clear way in. The House of Calvierri is like a fortress." He explained pointing to it. "But there's a tunnel underneath it, with a ladder and shaft that leads up into the house. I tried to get in once myself, but I hit a trapdoor."

"You need someone on the inside," Amy said.

"No." Both Time Lords said not even looking up from the map on the table while Amy frowned at them.

"You don't even know what I was going to say."

"You were going to suggest that we pretend you're an applicant for the school to get you inside."

"And tonight you come down and open the trapdoor to let us in." The Doctor finished.

"Oh. So you do know what I was going to say." She let out a sigh.

"Are you insane?" Rory asked gaping at her.

"We don't have another option."

"Yeah, we do." The Stone nodded.

"They said no, Amy," Rory said ignoring the blonde's comment while the Doctor shook his head not looking up from the map. "Listen to them."

"Perhaps you should listen to me..." the Stone suggested.

"There is another option." Guido cut in pointing to the collection of barrels that Rory was sat on. "I work at the Arsenale. We build the warships for the navy."

The Doctor frowned moving over and sniffed the barrels. "Gunpowder." He stated making Rory's eyes widen and shift away from the barrels only to knock into a dead rabbit hung up making him jump. "Most people just nick stationery from where they work. Look, we have a thing about guns" he pointed from himself to the Time Lady. "And huge quantities of explosive."

"What do you suggest, then?" Guido snapped hitting his hands on the table before poking the fire in his house with a stick. "We wait until they turn her into an animal?"

"I'll be there three, four hours, tops."

"No. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. It can't keep happening like this." The Doctor sighed pinching the bridge of his nose. "This is how they go. But we have to know...."

"I'll go." The Stone said rolling her eyes.

"No way are you going alone." The Doctor protested squeezing her hand.

"Well Amy comes with me then, its either she comes with me or I go alone." She sat down taking the Doctors hand in both of hers. "Sweetheart, I'm a Time Lady, I can take care of my self."

"We don't even know what they are."

"Which is why I go."

The Doctor sighed kissing her forehead before nodding. "We go together, say you're my daughter." He nodded at Amy. "And my fiancée." He looked at the Stone.

"What?" Rory gaped. "Don't listen to him."

"Your daughter?" Amy laughed. "You look about nine."

"Brother, then."

"Too weird." Amy scrunched up her nose. Fia-"

"If you say, Fiancée, I am going to be disappointed."

"Are you my mother now?" Amy questioned the Time Lady.

"No, but remember what we said earlier." The Stone reminded.

"Yeah, sorry." She muttered. "But they've already seen the Doctor. You should do it." She said turning to Rory.

"Me?"

"Yeah." She nodded. "You can be my... brother." The Doctor almost snorted a laugh until the Stone narrowed her eyes at him.

"Why is him being your brother weird, but with me, it's okay?" Rory asked.

"Actually, I thought you were her fiancé." Guido nodded at the Doctor.

"Great." The Stone frowned. "Why does this happen with all of your companions?" She questioned looking at the Doctor.
"Sorry dear." He winced. "Yeah, we're married." He said to Guido holding up his and the Stones entwined hands with their rings sparkling.

"This whole thing is mental," Rory muttered. "They're vampires, for God's sake."

"We hope." The Doctor added grimly.

"So if they're not vampires?" Amy frowned.

"Makes you wonder what could be so bad it doesn't actually mind us thinking it's a vampire." He said showing his teeth.

"Hisssss." The Stone joked pretending to bite his neck making the Doctor let out a loud laugh while Amy watched them both swallowing thickly deeply regretting what she had tried to do.
