The Lodgers - Two

After finding a shopping trolley they that had found without being chained up the Time Lords went around collecting the items that they needed, the Doctor wheeling it back to the flat. "Shush." The Doctor narrowed his eyes as the ginger cat nearby meowed in protest. "Don't get comfortable." He warned pulling the trolley up the curb.

"Let's just get inside, quietly." The Stone reminded him. "Before anyone sees us."

"Yes, good idea, dear." He nodded quickly unlocking the flat door and pulling the trolley inside.

---------------------------------------------------------

After finally getting everything inside without waking up Craig the Stone slumped down on the bed deeply wishing she had slept the day before so she didn't need to sleep now. "Tired dear?" The Doctor asked lying down on the bed and wrapping his arms around her, pulling her towards him.

"A little." She murmured before yawning, the Doctor raising a brow in question. "Okay more than a little." She admitted. "Normally I like to sleep at least every three days otherwise I start to get tired, four days and I end up dropping off at random times, it's not the best idea to fall sleep when running away from something trying to kill or eat you."

"No, you are right." He nodded. "Why don't you go to sleep."

"We need the room." She shook her head going to get off the bed. "Me sleeping won't give us enough room."

"No" He shook his head pulling her back down and into his arms.

"No?" She questioned turning her head a little to look at him.

"No, you're not going." He went on to explain. "You're tired so sleep."

"But-"

"Stone." he firmly cut in. "You need the sleep, you're yawning and I don't normally get to witness that, even with how adorable you look when you do it."

"Doctor-"

"Sleep." he whispered softly placing a kiss just under her ear. "I'm not letting go of you until you sleep."

"You will be holding me for a long time then."

"I wouldn't mind that." he grinned.

"Are you enjoying this sweetheart?" She chuckled.

"Would it be a lie to say that I enjoy cuddling my wife?" He raised a brow at her.

"Fair enough." She sighed. "I will go to sleep but-"

"But?"

"But I can always stay up a little while longer..." She grinned starting to caress his check after managing to shift in his arms to face him.

"You-" He narrowed his eyes at her before they fell close as she started to slowly and softly kiss him, the Doctor slightly pulled away looking at her for a moment. "You don't realise how much I enjoy how flirty this regeneration of you is." He grinned. "Not that you weren't in your previous body but this one is definitely more open with it."

"I guess you could say this me was made for this generation of you." She lightly laughed.

"Aren't they all?" He questioned raising a brow.

"Possibly." She replied a hint of playfulness in her voice.

"You don't seem to be that tired now dear." He remarked with the same amount of playfulness. "I have a feeling you did that on purpose."

"What, me?" She pretended to gasp. "I would never do that to you sweetheart."

"Dear Rassilon." He muttered shaking his head. "Whatever did I do to get you to be my wife."

"I could make a whole list but your ego is big enough."

"Oh, I'm not so sure you're talking about my ego dear." He smirked again softly kissing her feeling her smile against his lips before he deepened their kiss pulling her closer than either of them thought was physically possible.

---------------------------------------------------------

The next morning the Stone decided she was going to see what music people of Amy's Time enjoyed, after talking to the redhead for a while and asking what "normal" humans enjoyed she figured music must have been in the list. She already enjoyed reading, perhaps some music from Amy's time could be almost as interesting.

While the Stone blasted music in her and the Doctors room the Time Lord was in the shower singing La a Donna e mobile at the top of his lungs. Hearing the Doctors (in the Stones opinion) dreadful singing. That she was blasting the music to block out stop at the end of the last song she was listening to the Stone frowned wondering why he hadn't returned to their room since he never took any clothes into the bathroom even when the Time Lady advised him to even when he reassured her that he wouldn't be needing clothes.

"...Thanks." The Stone heard Craig from the stairs after she exited the room. "Well, if I ever am, you can come and save me with my toothbrush." He then left hearing a phone ring just before the Stone entered the hall shaking her head.

"Sweetheart what are you doing?" The Stone sighed looking around the corner to see the Doctor standing on the final stair in only a towel while holding a toothbrush.

"Craig went to see the man upstairs." He said before quickly adding seeing the alarmed look on her face. "He's perfectly fine."

"Well if he's okay that means you can go and get ready sweetheart." She gave him a pointed look.

"But-"

"Doctor." She cut in warningly. "I'm sure Craig isn't comfortable with you wandering around in only a towel."

"You never said you aren't." He wiggled his eyebrows at her.

"Go." She said with a chuckle lightly pushing him in the direction of their room only for him to spin around hearing the front door unlock.

"Oh!" The woman they presumed to be Sophie by Craig's photo opened the door. "Hello." She looked at them a little oddly.

"Ah! Hello." The Doctor grinned. "The Doctor."

"Right." She slowly nodded.

"Doctor." The Stone reminded. "I think it's time for you to change."

"You really are persistent dear." He whispered. "Plus it's rude to not say hello."

"Fine." She grumbled. "

The Doctor broadly smiled turning back to the woman. "You must be Sophie." He then went to give her air kisses only to yelp when getting hit around the back of the head by the ginger Time Lady.

"Oh." She blinked not understanding what brought that on.

"Doctor." The Stone telepathically hissed after he followed Sophie into the kitchen.

"Whats wrong dear?" He raised a brow before grinning.

"You know exactly what you big flirt." She narrowed her eyes at him.

"Okay." He raised his hands in the air in protest. The Stone squeaked seeing his towel fall slightly before he smirked raising it back to where it was before. Hearing her mutter under her breath she followed Sophie into the kitchen.

"...No, Dom's in Malta." Craig replied to the person he was on the phone too. "There's nobody around..." his eyes then brightened seeing the Doctor walk in. "Hang on a sec." he quickly replied holding the phone to his shoulder. "We've got a match today, pub league. We're one down if you fancy it?" He askes the Doctor.

"Pub league." The Doctor muttered. "A drinking competition?"

"No way." The Stone crossed her arms while shaking her head. "I'm not having a repeat of that time Jack made you drink all those glasses in a row with him before our wedding. I can't deal with seeing you look that ill again sweetheart."

"Ah." He quickly nodded. "She's right, sorry Craig but I can't argue with her, it doesn't normally end well..." he said getting quieter and quieter before whispering to the man. "She gets her back one way or another."

"No, football." Craig frowned at them both. "Play football."

"Football." He muttered. "Football. Yes, blokes play football." His eyes brightened glancing at the Time Lady. "I'm good at football, I think."

"Brilliant!" The Stone grinned ruffling his hair. "I definitely have to see this." The Doctor's smile grew even more at the thought, not only had he never played the sport but his best friend not to mention his wife was going to watch him. He only hoped he was good at it.

"You've saved my life." Craig nodded going back to the phone call. "I've got somebody. Yeah, all right, I'll see you down there. " he nodded hanging up the phone. "Hey, Soph."

"Hey, I thought I'd come early and meet your new flatmates." Sophie smiled at Craig before frowning slightly at the Doctor who grabbed a small milk bottle from the fridge and started to drink from it, only to abruptly stop seeing the disapproving look on the Time Lady's face.

"Do you play, Sophie?" The Doctor asked after setting the milk back where he had found it/

"No, Soph just stands on the sidelines." Craig chuckled. "She's my mascot."

"I'm your mascot?" She frowned. "Mascot?"

"Well, yeah, not my mascot." He shook his head. "It's a football match. I can't take a date."

"I didn't say I was your date."

"Neither did I." He quickly replied lightly shifting on his feet.

The Time Lords glanced at the humans for a moment. "You better get dressed sweetheart." The Stone whispered taking the Doctors hand. "Come on I'm sure Craig has a spare kit somewhere..."

"Yes, right." He quickly nodded in agreement. "Brilliant thought, dear."

"Yes!" Craig quickly nodded the Doctor handing him the toothbrush. "Spare kit's just in the bottom drawer."

"Bit of a mess." The Doctor muttered before shutting the door eyeing the large machine the Time Lords had built. The Stone shook her head as he smirked going to drop the towel only to pout when she turned around starting to rummage through the draws to find the kit.

"Later." She said without turning around tossing blue football shorts over her shoulder in his direction. "Only if you behave." She warned throwing a football shirt at him and then laughing when it hit him right in the face.

"Yes dear." he sighed frowning for a moment pulling the towel back up and opening the door poking his head out.

"You unlocked the door." He pointed at Sophie and then the keys in Craig's hand. "How did you do that? Those are your keys." He questioned. "You must have left them last time you came here."

"Yeah, but I." She frowned not understanding. "How do you know these are my keys?"

Craig cringed not looking at either of them. "I've been holding them."

"I have got another set," Sophie replied to the Doctor holding them up.

The Doctor smirked. "You've got two sets of keys to someone else's house?"

"Yeah?" She frowned.

"I see." He nodded. "You must like it here too." He then shut the door picking the kit he had dropped on the floor.

"So, we're going out." He called to Amy setting the device in his ear and putting on the football shirt. "If we hang about the house all the time, him upstairs might get suspicious and notice me."

"Football. Okay, well done." Amy praised them both sounding impressed that they actually found something to do. "That is normal." She commented. The Time Lords smugly grinned at how surprised she sounded before the Stone chuckled seeing the shirt the Doctor had on was the wrong way round. Fondly shaking her head she helped him fix it as if he was a child.

"Thanks, dear." He whispered kissing her cheek. "Yeah, football." He called over to Amy. "All outdoorsy. Now, football's the one with the sticks, isn't it?" He questioned looking at the Time Lady who lightly laughed patting his cheeks.

"I believe that's cricket or hockey sweetheart and considering you have played cricket before I am guessing you are talking about hockey."

"How do you know about that and not football?" He questioned tying up his shoelaces.

"Doctor you seem to forget that Lilac used to play for her school's hockey team. She made me help her practice every few weeks."

"Is that why I found that ice rink in your TARDIS that one time?"

"That would be ice hockey." She sighed. "And yes."

"Are you any good at it?" He questioned.

"Doctor my 3rd regeneration could barely walk at times let alone use ice skates." She reminded him raising a brow. "I have no idea how I managed."

"Ah of course." he nodded. "You are lucky that I didn't leave your side most of the time when you were in that body, you would have gotten far more head injury than you did."

"Yes well." She coughed turning a dark shade of red. "It wasn't my fault, it's like you and your clumsiness in this incarnation Doctor."

"Yes." He nodded heading towards the door. "You are right there, Stone."

---------------------------------------------------------

"What are you actually called?" Craig asked walking through the park with Sophie, the Time Lords walking hand in hand beside them. "What's your proper names?"

"Just call us the Doctor and the Stone." The Doctor grinned.

"Yeah."

"I can't go up to these guys and say hey, this is my new flatmates, he's called the Doctor and this is his wife the Stone."

"Why not?" The Doctor frowned.

"Because it's weird." He replied sounding as if he was laughing.

"Craig." The Stone shook her head. "I used to say to someone I knew that if you think it's weird you will be the one to make it weird."

"You really said that?" He questioned.

"Oh, she did." The Doctor nodded smiling fondly of the memories.

"All right, Craig." A man nodded hugging Craig before nodding at Sophie. "Soph. All right, mate."

"Hello, we're Craig's new flatmates. I'm called the Doctor." He grinned about to give the man air kisses only to yelp when he was tugged back by the back of his collar by the Stone. "This is my wife the Stone." He added fixing the collar of his shirt.

"All right, Doctor." The man nodded. "I'm Sean. So, where are you strongest?"

"Arms."

"Well I wouldn't say that is where you're strongest, perhaps your head, you did almost dent the bathroom door the other day when you walked into it, sweetheart."

"Yes thank you, dear." He muttered turning a dark red.

"No, he means what position on the field." Craig chuckled at their odd behaviour finding it more amusing than weird.

"Not sure." he shrugged. "The front? The side? Below."

"Are you any good though?" Sean asked.

"Let's find out." The Doctor grinned twirling the football in hand on his finger before running off, blazer still on.

"Doctor!" The Stone called after him before groaning. "Dear Rassilon. He can act like a child at times." She sighed pinching the bridge of her nose.

------------------------------------------------------

The Stone watched the game, standing beside Sophie, looking quite amused at how well the Doctor had picked up the game of football considering he had mixed it up with Hockey just over an hour prior to starting the game. Happily, the Doctor dodged the opposing players and owned the ball for the majority of the game, much to Craig's annoyance from the Time Lady's observation.

By the end of the match, the whole of the crowd supporting the Doctors side was chanting his name. Managing to score the final goal in the last seconds the Doctor laughed, beaming in delight as the crowd ran to him, however, the Time Lord completely ignored them managing to slip past them all. His eyes on one Time Lady who he scooped up in his arms and twirled around in delight, her legs wrapping around him as he held her in the air.

The Stone laughed bringing her head down as she wrapped her arms around his neck, the two of them enjoying a slow kiss, hearing a couple of whistles the Time Lords turned a light shade of red softly smiling, resting their foreheads against one another. "Was I good?" The Doctor then asked sounding slightly breathless from all the running around.

"Brilliant." She chuckled. "Very good for a first game sweetheart."

"Well." He sniffed smugly. "I wasn't even trying."

"Of course you weren't." She rolled her eyes smirking.

"I really wasn't." He laughed. "Well, maybe I tried a little."

"Knew it." She shook her head at him as he set her down stealing a quick kiss in the process.

"You are so on the team." Sean moved away from the bench he, Craig, Sophie and a couple of others were standing beside. "Next week we've got the Crown and Anchor. We're going to annihilate them."

"Annihilate? No." The Doctor instantly straightened looking serious. "No violence, do you understand me? Not while I'm around." He stepped closer to Sean. "Not today, not ever. I'm the Doctor, the Oncoming Storm..." He then stopped hearing the Stone giggling just behind him. "And you basically meant beat them in a football match, didn't you?" He sighed.

"Yeah."

"You knew?" He asked looking at the Stone.

"Humans love metaphors sweetheart, it doesn't take an idiot to know that."

The Doctor looked at her for a moment before catching on to what she was saying. "Hey!" The Stone giggled again as the Doctor narrowed his eyes at her before turning to Sean. "What sort of time?"

Before he could answer Craig opened a drink can only to be sprayed with the foam. Everyone but the Doctor and Stone turned to look at him laughing before it repeated, again and again, getting faster each time.

"Doctor..." The Stone looked at him slightly alarmed.

"I know." He nodded taking her hand the two of them running off switching their earpieces on.

"Amy?"

"It's happening again." She cried hearing them both. "Worse!"

"What does the scanner say?" The Stone questioned trying to sound calm.

"A lot of nines." She replied. "Is it good that they're nines? Tell me it's good that they're all nines."

"Yes, yes, it's... it's good." He lied the Stone wincing a little. "Zigzag plotter. Zigzag plotter, Amy." The Time Lords impatiently waiting for a reply before they heard a scream through the earpieces, looking at each other worryingly the Doctor spoke up. "Amy? Are you there?"

"Amy?" The Stone swallowed nervously.

"Yes." They heard Amy panting. "Hello."

"Oh, thank heavens." The Doctor breathed. "I thought for a moment the TARDIS had been flung off into the vortex with you inside it, lost forever."

"Doctor!" The Stone hissed as Amy yelped.

"What, you mean that could actually happen? You have got to get me out of here!

"Amy, how are the numbers?" The Stone quickly asked shooting the Doctor a glare, desperately trying to get Amy to not think about being stuck inside the Time machine forever. The Doctor who swallowed nervously at the look he received snapped his mouth shut.

"All fives."

"Fives?" The Stone repeated letting out a sigh of relief. "Even better."

"Still, it means the effect's almost unbelievably powerful and dangerous, but don't worry." The Doctor cut in.

"Just hang on, okay Amy." The Stone added. "I promise that we will get you out of the TARDIS, you know I don't make promises that I will break."

"Hey-"

"We've got some rewiring to do." The Doctor cut her off.

"Hang on."
