Chapter 32: Getting There
Nash's P.O.V.
The plane just landed in Nashville. I can't wait to see Shawn. Cameron's gonna be coming tonight. He's already on the airplane. It's a long flight flight from there to here. I look around the airport. Tara is supposed to pick me up here. I see her holding up a sign that says Nash. "Tara!" I say happily. Cameron had told me about how much Tara had been there for him while she's been with Shawn these past few months. I'm willing to forgive her for how she treated us before.
"Nash I haven't seen you in such a long time." she said smiling. I give her a huge hug.
"How have you been Tara?"
"I've been good. And before we spend any more time together I'd just like to say that I'm sorry for how I treated you and Cameron in the past. I used to think y'all were bad guys but I realize you're exactly what Shawn needs in his life."
"Aww that's so sweet. Thank you. Where's Shawn at?"
"He's probably in bed. He sleeps in most of the time now."
"We must be talking about two different Shawn's because the Shawn I know gets up early in the morning everyday. He's never been late to something a day in his life."
"Well Shawn's a bit different now. I wanna worn you before you see him that he's probably gonna be a little different."
"What do you mean different?" I ask as we board her car. We had been walking while we were talking.
"You'll just have to see. I'm hoping you and Cameron will fix him."
"Yah."
"Yah I still can't believe Cameron is coming home so soon now."
"I know. Shawn's gonna be so happy to see him." We had a bit of small talk the rest of the way to Shawn's hotel.
"I'm not gonna go in with you but I will go with you to the door." We walk up to Shawn's door. Tara knocks three times. No response. She knocks about 5 more times, quite a bit louder.
"What!" screams a tired sounding Shawn from the other side.
"Shawn I know you don't wanna see me right now but I have someone here that I think you're gonna wanna see."
"Unless it's Nevada I don't care."
"No Shawn, this person is more important than Nevada."
"Tara there's only one other person more important than Nevada and that would be Cameron. And I know he's in New Zealand."
"It's not Cameron. But it's someone that'll remind you of Cameron."
"Tara go away."
"Just open the door Shawn." she says demandingly. I hear him groan from the other side of the door and then he opens it. He's wearing the robe that Cameron bought him several months ago. He's got a bag of chips under his arm, cramming his face full of them. He looks at Tara, his eyes slowly moving to me.
"Nash?" he asks. "Nash!" he says again, screaming this time. He drops the bag of chips and jumps at me giving me a hug. "Nash oh my god! What are you doing here?!" I notice his face is a completely different color and he already looks happy than he did when he first opened the door.
"I came to see you dude."
"Nash I've missed you so much man." He gives me another hug. I've missed his nice person mannerisms.
"I've missed you too Shawn."
"Come in dude come in." I walk in and turn my head around to see him just look at Tara. He rolls his eyes at her, leaving the door open for her to walk through with us. "Shut the door behind you." he says rolling his eyes again.
"So how's tour been?" I ask, sitting down on his couch. He had a pretty big hotel room.
"Tour's been something different." he says looking awkwardly at the table.
"What do you mean?"
"I don't know Nash. It's just been so hard without Cameron and I just feel like I've literally gone crazy."
"Well what's going on?"
"It's nothing." he says looking away. "I've already said to much." He stands up.
"Shawn what are you talking about?"
"Nothing. I'm fine. What time is it; should I start getting ready?"
"Shawn it's not even noon yet." Tara says.
"And what are you doing here? I thought I fired you." he says rudely.
"Shawn calm down. Tara's the one that helped me get here to see you."
"Well she's been a horrible manager. She constantly tells me about how bad everything is that I do. She never stops correcting me and always brings up Nevada." I look at Tara and wink and head motion towards Shawn. Tara makes a confused face.
"You know what Shawn I think you're right. Tara is a pretty bad manager. I think she should leave too." Shawn looks up at me like I'm the first person that's made sense to him in years. Tara looks at me and understands. I'm trying to get on Shawn's good side. I truly think something is wrong with him; it's as if he is truly going crazy. I had no idea things were so bad with him. Cameron needs to get here ASAP. Only like 8 more hours. After Tara leaves I sit down with Shawn on the couch again. I wander what's so wrong with him.
"Thanks for having my back Nash."
"I always got your back Shawn." He just smiles at me. "So what's going on in your life right now?"
"Nothing really." he says staring off into nothing.
"You miss Cameron a lot?"
"Nash I think being away from him this long is making me crazy. I feel so on edge and without him I'm just not functioning as myself." He pauses for a second. "You know I think I'm gonna leave this tour and go see him in New Zealand."
"Shawn you can't do that." I say quickly.
"Why not? I'm done with being away from him. I can't take it anymore."
"Are you sure that's the only thing bothering you Shawn? And besides perform at least tonight. Maybe you'll feel different tomorrow night" I say, the devil inside me smiling.
"Yah Nash. What else could possibly be bothering me." he says a little to quickly and shrugging his shoulders. Something is clearly bothering him.
"Well just wait, tonight is gonna be the best show in your whole tour."
"Why's that?" he asks curiously.
"Just wait. You'll see." I say smiling.
Cameron's P.O.V.
I look out the airplane window. I can't believe I'm done filming my first movie already. I can't wait to see it on the big screen. I'm meeting up with Ash, Brooke, and Skye in a few weeks in L.A. They all might be moving there soon. We really became pretty close these last couple months. I watch as the plane touches down with the ground. I'm getting closer and closer to my Shawny. I've waited so freaking long for this moment and it's finally getting ready to happen. I just wanna get to my baby boy. After the plane lands I get off, meeting Tara at the terminal. "Hey Cameron." she says smiling and opening her arms up for me.
"Hi Tara." I say embracing her hug.
"You tired at all?"
"Nope. It's actually like 2 or 3pm in New Zealand right now." I say laughing.
"Well let's go. The stage is only 10 minutes away from here." I follow Tara quickly, getting my luggage and getting in her car.
"I'm so excited to see my baby." I say smiling. I've never been so anxious for something. I feel so close go him. I haven't been able to touch my Shawny in 81 days. 81 days!!! I sit patiently until we get to the stage. It's an outdoor arena in Nashville, basically just a giant stage. I follow Tara, leaving my luggage in her car, getting all the way backstage. My heart is beating so fast. I literally cannot wait any longer to see Shawny. I can't believe we've gone almost 3 months apart. I just wanna wrap my arms around his muscular, warm, adorable body. I look out on the stage and hear his beautiful voice radiating all over the place. I see his happy face as he's performing. I honestly can't believe I've been away from this man for so long. I look at his smiling face, red from how hard he's working, beads of sweat all over his forehead. His hair is messed up, but in a cute way. I feel someone grab my shoulder.
"Dude go get him." Nash says smiling. I look over at him, and give him a hug.
"Here it goes Nash." I say smiling. I'm so nervous and excited to see my baby boy. Shawn just finished playing This Is What It Takes. I begin walking out on stage as he catches his breath. The whole crowd is cheering loud for him. He's looking out with his arms raised, guitar strapped around his body. As they slowly recognize who I am, the entire crowd begins to go silent. He looks slightly confused. He looks over, following all of the crowds eyes looking at my feet, making his way up to my eyes. He blinks and looks like he's seeing something he's never seen in his life before. "Shawn." I say barely audible.
"Cameron." he says, as tears of joy start to pour down his face.
