Bucky hated hospitals, everything about them. From the sympathetic expressions pasted onto the faces of nurses and doctors, to the machines. Especially the machine that was currently the only thing keeping his wife alive. Something had gone wrong with Willow's spine, or her lungs, Bucky didn't know, the doctors had said something about shrapnel from her spine puncturing internal organs. 

  Even now, the faint line on the monitor that showed Willow's heartbeat was slowly fading. Willow was dying, and yet she was the one smiling up at Bucky. He was sitting on a chair next to her bed, holding one of her hands with his good hand, tears streaming openly down his face. Steve stood behind him, and Lulu sat across from him, next to Willow. 

  The radio in the hospital room was playing a quiet song, a sad song. Bucky could only just hear the lyrics, it was an old song. One that Willow used to hum.

 You are my sunshine. My only Sunshine

  The rise and fall of Willow's chest became less frequent. Her green eyes welled with tears as she looked up at Bucky's anguished face. Willow didn't have enough breath in her body to speak, but she managed to raise one of her hands and let her hand rest on Bucky's cheek. 

  Your are my sunshine. My only sunshine. You make me happy, when the skies are gray.

   Willow's grip on Bucky's hand began to go slack, and Bucky squeezed her fingers tightly, unable to speak. 

 You'll never know dear, how much I love you. 

   Willow's hand fell limply back to the bed and her green eyes stared up at nothing. 

Please don't take my sunshine away. 

 Bucky let out a strangled sob, and wrapped his arms around Willow's limp body, holding it close against him. But he knew there was no life in it, she was gone. 

 You are my sunshine. My only sunshine.
