His secretary

He opened his eyes to the empty bed. But soon his ears met with laughs and cheerful shouting. He walked to the window to see Amber and Gideon running while Sydney was making failed attempts to chase them.

In her blue T-shirt and black pajamas, she looked like a college girl while kids were still in their sleep wares. A smile stretched on his lips as he imagined Sarah at her place. But things were not the same.

But they indeed took a great turn. Far better than his father's or grandfather's married life. In a second, anyone could tell how much Sydney was compassionate and tender-hearted. If it wasn't Sarah no one else could be at Sydney's place.

He looked at Sydney's smile and wonder if he had missed Sarah after marrying her. But first of all, he needed to know who she was? All the basic info on her. Even without all this info, he has faith in her. She emitted energy that seemed so pure and beautiful. It made her glow.

"Daddy,..." Amber shouted looking at him and he passed a smile before coming down. He walked to the kids where Sydney seemed to be out of breath and tired while kids made fun of her.

Appearing behind the kids he caught them in seconds and took them to Sydney. "Tell me what to do with them?" Noah asked while Sydney's mouth dropped and kids shouted, "Daddy!" so he could let them go,

"We were playing, let them go," Sydney came to hold Gideon as he complained,

"You cheated daddy,"

"I only helped your mom," Noah defended himself.

"You are at my side," Amber told Noah.

"Yea, I am at my baby's side," Noah said before kissing her cheek and made her laugh.

"What you two are doing here without taking your bath?" Noah asked the kids,

"We were playing?"

"I don't want to bath." Gideon and Amber replied simultaneously,

"Sandra!" Noah called for their old maid who wasn't standing too far.

"I will bathe them," Sydney offered,

"You can't do this every day." Noah casually said as the matter of fact and Sydney replied,

"I would love to do that." Kids smiled and started walking home when Sydney whispered to him,

"I have already lost a lot, Noah. A lot I don't even want to think about," And the moment Noah found her face a little sad he hugged her shoulder before looking at the kids.

"I am sorry,..."

"I am fine," Sydney smiled and accepted the kiss Noah leaned in to give her.

Sydney got the kids ready while Noah prepared the breakfast. He wanted to do something for kids too. And, he was indeed appreciated.

The more Sydney looked at her family on the breakfast table the more she regretted the years she couldn't spend with them. And, it was all because of that old bones and Jasper.

She lost to the moment when she finally got away from that devil and reached her place. And, how they made her leave the place without telling her about Noah's resting place.

All this time she believed Jasper took care of her by introducing her to Mr. and Mrs. Saad but only now she realized that he broke her trust the most. If it wasn't for Nick she would have lost her sanity.

"Noah, I was thinking to leave for Nick. You see he can't travel on his own." Sydney started the topic the moment their driver started the car.

"Oh, yea, when you want to leave?" Noah asked,

"He has a play today, and I don't want to interrupt him,..." Sydney trailed off and made Noah narrow his eyes.

"Is everything alright?" Noah asked,

"I don't know how to do it, Noah. How I am supposed to tell him that he is not... going to live at the same place,...leave his friend Abbey. And,...now he has siblings out of the blue."

"You,...does he knows that he is not your real son?" Noah asked and Sydney looked at him with her eyes wide.

"We can't tell him, right?" Sydney asked looking at Noah's unfazed expression.

"I think we should tell him," Noah pointed,

"We can't! He is a five-year-old kid. And,...and he knows what adopted mean." Sydney said but saw him still. Is he serious? She thought. There was no way she could let this happen. Not now at least.

"Let's talk about it later. But think about it. What are you going to tell Gideon and Amber? That he is their real brother? They too know what adopted mean. Plus, Nick will soon realize that he doesn't,...you know look like our family."

"At that time,...that time I think things will be different." Sydney tried to say but felt her throat dry.

"Different how?" Noah questioned with exhaustion.

"He will be used to us. And, he would know that he is loved by his family. It might lessen,...I don't know we can't tell him." Seeing Sydney freaking out Noah gave it a little thought before coming, "Lying never takes you anywhere,"

"I am not lying,...I am just...hiding," Sydney could feel she was losing the most important argument of her life.

"I think you already know," Noah said before getting out of the car and didn't wait for her to follow.

Sydney's feet were heavier getting to his office. She never saw this coming. There was no way she could choose between her kids.

Whatever Noah was proposing was making her unsettled. Even thinking about telling Nick that he is adopted made her restless.

It was at lunchtime when Noah came in and ordered food for them. Looking at her stoic expression he could collect that she was disappointed but he was in no mood to show the flexibility.

Their food was served on the table Noah had beside the large window for a view. When Sydney didn't budge from the working table he called for her.

"Come here," Sydney's face had a dark expression but she still walked to him and he held her hand to make her sit with him.

"Relax,..." He started but Sydney was quick to cut him off,

"I have decided,..." Noah heard her say and looked at her with raised brows. Something about Sydney's tone told him that he was in trouble.

"I will stay with Nick. But,...I will stay in this city...Somewhere near to our place,...so,...I could visit kids." For a moment Noah couldn't believe that she could decide something like this.

On one side he saw her caring about twins to the extent that she wouldn't leave a single opportunity to spend time with them and now she loves another child to the extent that she would pass on living with them. He needed to ask why but what came out of his mouth was unfiltered.

"What about me?...What about us?" This surprised Noah too. He cared about what they shared in a few days.

"You don't need me. I am only two nights old for you."

"What the hell you had been thinking since morning?" Noah asked as their lunch stayed there untouched.

"Kids have you but Nick has only me. He...For me, he is not any less than Gideon. But you, you don't need to like him. I don't want Nick to live a single day in life when he has to work to be loved...Not until I am alive." Sydney opened her heart in front of him.

Silence ruled before Noah said, "I never said that Nick can't live with us. I ...I will talk to the kids." Noah said and Sydney looked at him with doubts in her eyes.

"Yea, Sydney I won't tell Nick that he is adopted...But I don't think we can keep something like this any longer." Noah tried to relax her but she was quick to ask,

"And you will try your best to keep these things the same as long as possible." This made Noah look at Sydney as if telling her it was the worst plan ever but nodded before saying,

"Now, please have something," Noah said and Sydney smiled before leaning to his arm and holding his hand.

"Are you mad?" Sydney asked looking into his eyes and he couldn't help and see Gideon's cute eyes looking into him.

"You should have not said what you said?" Noah said and seemed annoyed.

"I am sorry. I didn't mean to,...but you were not leaving me any option and I thought maybe you don't want me,..." She trailed off,

"I want you Sydney." Noah cut her off looking right into her eyes.
"And,...and you are a lot more than a night." Sydney's lips parted as his mouth approached her.

"Ways you know to excite my body is proof that you are the only woman made for me." Her eyelashes fluttered and face goes red listening to him.

"What I did?" Sydney asked really not knowing what things she had done.

"It's only me here. You don't need to play innocent." Noah said before leaning to kiss her passionately.

Her nerves which were stricken up since morning got relaxed. She inhaled deeply when his hands started massaging her back and pulled her in.

He loved how she always got so relaxed in his arms. Quite opposite to Sarah and this made him wonder even more.

"You have a meeting, Noah," Sydney said pulling away but Noah was quick to kiss her again.

This time Noah pulled away and looked in her eyes. His expression became a little grave before adding, "Don't worry. All of this is my responsibility too. I am ready for Nick...I only wanted to avoid lying. But if you believe it is the best way." He stared in her eyes for a few seconds before adding, "Let's do it," Sydney looked at him with gratitude before asking,

"And, what if this fails? What if you are proved right and things don't turn out the way I am planning." Noah pondered a little before saying,

"Well, I am going to lie so I am a culprit too. We are in this together. You got me?" All of a sudden Sydney felt her shoulders lighted. As if a huge stone was lifted off her chest and she was the luckiest woman on the earth.

This time she came up to kiss him hard. Though she still wanted Noah to get his memories back she liked him more in this sophisticated new package. He was good at expressing himself with his words.

Noah came to kiss her beautiful neck while Sydney tried to manage in shallow breathing, "Noah, we can't let other people wait. And, you haven't taken anything in lunch,"

She moaned when Noah caressed her waist and reached to cup her breast. "Noah we are in office," Sydney whispered the moment she felt him hard. "Have we never done it in the office?" Noah asked,

"Umm, we have but,..." She trailed off the moment Noah sucked his skin with open mouth.

"Where?" Noah whispered,

"In the apartment, we have above and in that room," Sydney's cheek was going lava hot when Noah asked,

"Never on this sofa?" Noah asked and she shook her head in no.

"And, on that table?" Noah pointed and she shook her head again.

"Well, that can be changed," Noah said and Sydney pushed him away saying.

"Noah. We work here." Sydney stood up and set her dress before shaking her head in disbelief.

"Don't tell me we never made any memories on our staircase, kitchen, or in the swimming pool..." He trailed off looking at her expression and added,

"We were the most boring couple."

"No, you have become,...a teenager. My Noah had some class." This made Noah gave her his perfect smirk.

"And, what's your point?..." Noah pulled her hand and she gasped landing on his lap. "In the end, I am all you have."

"You will be getting late for the meeting at this rate," Sydney's voice had the authority and Noah was quick to add.

"Right now you are only a secretary." Sydney's lips shrink into a frown before attempting to get out of his hold but he kept her there and added,

"Never in my life had I imagined my secretary over my lap," Noah mentioned with a smile.

"You don't have to endure it even now," Sydney said and made Noah pull her in even more.

"Tonight we will stay here after work," Noah ordered looking into his eyes.

"Why?" Sydney asked but the butterflies in her stomach made her unrest.

"I have special notes for you," Noah said staring at her mouth this time.

"I guess they are quite important," Sydney smiled and Noah leaned to offer her a peck on her lips.

They finally had the lunch and Sydney was helping him get into his suit when Noah mentioned,

"My friend is throwing a home warming party. They have invited our family," Noah stopped to set his tie while Sydney asked,

"With kids? I was planning to get Nick,..."

"Yea, do that, the party is next weekend. It is good that we introduce Nick to people too."

Sydney nodded lost in her thoughts and leaned in to set his tie for him too.

"Yea,...and you will have a good time with your friend Maria," Noah smiled caressing her cheek while Sydney shot him a glance with an awkward smile.

"Maria who?"
