It had been two moons since Cleardawn was named deputy and she still was in shock. She was young- very young and had only just received her first apprentice.

Redstar seemed adamant about it, though, so she tried hard and trained hard.

She had gotten used to organising patrols- although on her first go, she had set Frondfur on three different patrols. Leapmist was supportive and although they didn't spend a lot of time together anymore, she still managed to walk and hunt with him.

Nothing threatened the clans anymore. Bubbles' cats had returned to their old camp and new leaf was treating the cats in Thunderclan well. Life seemed quiet... too quiet. The kind of quiet you feel when some cat is stalking her in the shadows. Cleardawn didn't like this new feeling, but at least they weren't at war anymore.

She missed her clanmates. They had fought so hard in the war, and some of them still hadn't recovered. Furrowbane's legs were now permanently paralyzed and Aldercoat was kept busy trying to keep her hopes high. So many clanmates were lost- like Acornshine and Songpaw. They were so young. All because of rogues. And her sister. Cranefrost was different. All queens were once they found out they were expecting kits, but Cranefrost seemed... indifferent. The depressed stage of her grief had passed now, and it was like she wanted to feel no emotion at all. Cleardawn was worried. What if Cranefrost hated her kits? What if she didn't take good care of them? Immediately, Cleardawn felt guilty and pushed those thoughts out of her head.

Cranefrost was the most caring person she knew, and the bond she shared with Acornshine was almost motherly. Cranefrost would be an excellent mother.

Cleardawn continued to stroll through the camp.

Her whole world brightened when she spotted Leapmist heartily munching on a rabbit that was almost as big as him. Cleardawn raced to join him.

"Need help?" She purred, setting down next to him.

Leapmist purred back, his mouth still full with rabbit as he replied, "I don't know, I am pretty hungry..." his stomach growled as if confirming the statement.

Cleardawn looked at Leapmist, and then the rabbit, and then Leapmist again with an exaggerated look of doubt on her face. Leapmist's whiskers twitched.

"I'm kidding! Come closer, I caught this on the dawn patrol you sent me on. It's still warm." Leapmist meowed.

Cleardawn and Leapmist sat in silence for many heartbeats. For a moment, Cleardawn felt like all the stress and pressure had been lifted from her shoulders. She felt like she was just existing, with not a care in the world. Just like when she was a careless kit.

"I'm worried about Cranefrost. She seems different." Cleardawn finally stated. She felt like she could always voice her concerns to Leapmist. He supported her with each decision she made as deputy and constantly vowed to do so until she resigned.

Leapmist paused, as if contemplating what to say, and then meowed, "queens always seem different at first. And a huge battle had just happened. Cranefrost lost her mother, father and apprentice. You have to give her time to grieve."

Cleardawn looked away for a moment. She didn't know why, but she felt selfish when she tentatively asked, "do you want kits?"

Leapmist paused, and this time it was obvious. For a moment, Cleardawn was worried she asked him something too early on. But then he purred, and it sounded like the best thing in the world.

"Of course! We could name them after the fallen from the battle. I could give them badger rides! Teach them about the history of our clan!"

The idea of kits with Leapmist brought a warmth to Cleardawn's heart, dispelling the shadows that had lingered. She smiled at Leapmist, imagining a future with their own little ones, a continuation of Thunderclan's legacy. The thought of naming them after the fallen warriors honored the memories of those who had sacrificed so much.

As they finished their meal, Cleardawn couldn't help but feel grateful for the quiet moments like these. The bond with Leapmist gave her strength, and she hoped it would only deepen with time.

Days passed, and Cleardawn continued to carry out her duties as deputy. The camp had settled into a routine, and the wounds of the recent battle were slowly healing. However, the tranquility of the camp was disrupted one evening when the wind carried a distinct scent, a scent that made Cleardawn's fur stand on end. She recognized it instantly—rogue scent.

Cleardawn immediately summoned a patrol, including Frondfur, who had forgiven her for the earlier patrol mishap. They ventured into the woods, eyes sharp and ears pricked for any signs of danger. The scent grew stronger, leading them deeper into the territory.

The patrol halted as they reached the border, their eyes widening at the sight before them. A single of rogue, a menacing black and white tom, stood on Thunderclan's territory. His eyes gleamed with hostility as he locked gazes with Cleardawn.

"What brings you here, rogue?" Cleardawn demanded, her tail lashing with a mixture of anger and caution.

Shadowclaw smirked, revealing sharp teeth. "I heard Thunderclan was weakened after the battle. Thought it was the perfect time to claim some territory for myself."

Frondfur growled beside Cleardawn, his fur bristling. "You won't get past us. Thunderclan is strong."

The rogue's eyes narrowed, and flicekd his ear impatiently. A tense standoff ensued, and Cleardawn could feel the tension in the air. The rogue, however, didn't seem eager for a direct confrontation.

With a flick of his tail, the rogue spoke, "I'll be watching. This isn't over."

He retreated, disappearing into the shadows of the trees. Cleardawn's gaze remained fixed on the border, a newfound pridesettling in her chest. She and her clan were strong, and the tyranny of the rogues were long gone.
