Chapter 16
For Warriorcats4life62 for always commenting and checking out my sisters story <3 she was so happy!
Guess who the picture of is! I've never described her in my story, she's a minor character... and the big hint: She has a lot of spirit.
Pillars of sunlight crept through the entrance of the medicine cat den and the carolling birds had just started their dawn chorus. The cats of Thunderclan awoke to a beautiful morning- except for Clearpaw.
When she opened her eyes, everything was blurry. She had no idea where she was or what had happened. She lay there, trying to make out her surroundings until it all came back to her. She leapt to her paws faster than lightning, her ears pricked up and eyes wide.
"How am I here? Where's Leapmist? Who-"
"Shhh! You should rest. Aldercoat has gone to collect some herbs for you. Wait until he is back, and we'll see if you're strong enough to return to the apprentice den." Songpaw seemed to appear out of nowhere and her soothing voice almost sounded creepy.
"How did I get here?" Clearpaw asked, repeating her question. She settled down in her nest, tucking her front paws beneath her. The world seemed to rotate around her and it was giving her a headache.
"Well, Leapmist carried you here about 3 sunrises-"
"THREE SUNRISES?!" Clearpaw interrupted. Songpaw nodded, ignoring Clearpaw's outburst and going on.
"He said that you and him were on your way back from hunting and you just... collapsed. He was really worried. You know, he's come to check on you everyday. I'll get him right now, if you want." Songpaw offered kindly.
Clearpaw nodded vigorously, trying to forget about the stabbing pain in her head.
When Songpaw was gone, and Clearpaw was all alone, she sighed. Why had Starclan given her a vision at that exact moment? Why not any other time in Clearpaw's life? She tried to guess what Leapmist was going to say to her.
'Clearpaw, I want to say thank you?'
'Clearpaw, I really appreciate it?'
But Clearpaw's favourite option that she'd been thinking about non-stop was Clearpaw, I love you.
Clearpaw's thoughts were interrupted when she heard pawsteps, and a cat say, "Careful, she just woke up."
A familiar, relaxing scent filled the medicine cat den as Leapmist entered,
"I'll leave you two alone..." Songpaw meowed, turning around and exiting the den.
Clearpaw turned her attention to Leapmist.
"Do you feel alright?" Leapmist's voice quivered with emotion, but Clearpaw didn't know if it was sadness, concern or something else.
Clearpaw got up from her lazy lying down position and sat next to Leapmist, licking him affectionately. Leapmist rested his tail around her paws.
"Yes, though I have been better. Songpaw tells me that you've visited me every day! If that's true, I reckon it's the first time you've followed a schedule!" Clearpaw added, her whiskers twitching with amusement. She was referring to Leapmist's habit of always being late.
Leapmist purred with laughter, but then his eyes turned serious.
"I thought I'd lost you, Clearpaw. What happened?"
Clearpaw decided it was safe to tell him what Starclan had shared with her.
"Starclan sent me a vision. It said, 'beware the Frost that has a scattered future.'
Leapmist studied her with an unreadable expression.
Finally, he meowed, "Do you think it means Cranefrost?"
Clearpaw shuddered. Cranefrost's intentions were good- it was Snowpaw that she needed to look out for.
"Clearpaw, I need to tell you something that I was going to say before Starclan interrupted. I..." Clearpaw held her breath and tried, with all her energy, not to quiver in excitement. She knew what he was going to say. She could feel it.
"Love you."
"I love you too, Leapmist. We have a future after I become a warrior."
She'd never felt happier in her life. Purring filled the medicine cat den as the two cats' tails twined.
Clearpaw was caught off guard when Aldercoat entered the den, with herbs wrapped in a leaf in his mouth. Luckily, he didn't make it awkward- in fact, Clearpaw was surprised that he actually didn't even stop. He pushed the herbs to Clearpaw and murmured something like, "Eat these and then you can go back," And exited the den again.
Clearpaw ate the herbs as quick as she could. She knew exactly where she was headed- the warriors den, to look for her mentor. She was ready for her warrior assessment.
***
A second chance was all she needed to perfect the assessment. With no Snowpaw in the way (since she'd already repeated her warrior assessment and succeeded, becoming Snowfall), Clearpaw was determined and free from distractions.
At last, Frondfur appeared from the bushes, signalling the end of her assessment. From the look on his face, Clearpaw could tell that she had succeeded. The sun was on the brink of setting as Clearpaw returned- just enough time to squeeze in her warrior ceremony. Clearpaw couldn't wait.
"Clearpaw, step forward. I, Redstar, leader of Thunderclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. They have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend them to you as a warrior in their turn. Clearpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"Clearpaw stared hard into Redstar's deep eyes, and then she turned around to Leapmist. He gave her a reassuring nod, and Clearpaw meowed, "I do."
"Then by the powers of , I give you your warrior name. Clearpaw, from this moment on you will be known as Cleardawn. StarClan honors your determination and courage, and we welcome you as a full warrior of Thunderclan."
"Cleardawn!"
"Cleardawn!"
"Cleardawn!"
Cleardawn's chest swelled with pride as her clanmates chanted her new name. But Redstar was not done.
As you all now, Berrykit and Acornkit have reached the age of six moons. Berrykit, Acornkit, it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Berrypaw and Acornpaw. Berrypaw, your mentor will be Leafshade. Leafshade, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You have proved that you are loyal and worthy to train this young apprentice to be a skilful warrior. And Acornpaw, your mentor will be Cranefrost. Cranefrost, you are an excellent, smart warrior of Thunderclan that we all respect. I expect you to pass down all of your knowledge and skill to this apprentice."
"Acornpaw!"
"Berrypaw!"
"Acornpaw!"
"Berrypaw!"
Cleardawn could tell that Cranefrost had no idea that she would become a mentor. Cleardawn thought it was pretty obvious. The queens in the nursery had told stories of how fiercely Cranefrost had fought when Cranefrost was recovering, and the kits all respected her like she was a leader. Cleardawn rubbed her head against Leapmist, not daring to do anything else in case she accidentally spoke.
She was a warrior.
Hiii! So just saying, Cleardawn was NOT stolen from the other warrior cat fan fiction. It was all planned from the start and I had no idea what to do when I saw the book. I decided to go on with it, because I really like the name and don't want to change it.We're getting up to the final chapters of the book!!! I've planned ALL of them out and trust me- it's exciting, got a lot of drama, and more than one or two cats die. (>=D) Sorry if you were looking forward to Snowfall's warrior ceremony, but this chapter is already 300 words too long. I like to be concise. I was considering splitting it into 2 at first, but it worked out just fine.Shout out to Chrxnicles for the amazing name, Snowfall.Check out my book Name that Apprentice.
BYEEEEE
Till the next chapter!!!
Also who is your favourite ship and characters? Tell me in comments. Byeeee for real now!:D
