"Savana, Grayson and Jasper are here. Would you like to come and welcome them here? They might be a bit hostile if it's just me." Brice knocks on her door and sticks his head in to tell her about the two boys, or men rather since they are significantly older than Savana.
Savana perks up and gets up off her bed. She runs into the bathroom, but not before Brice notices tear streaks on her face. He feels more than a little defeated at this point. He's pretty sure that he is somehow to blame for the tears, but he doesn't know how.
Savana comes back in excited and just grabs her iPad before going to the door.
It doesn't take them long to get to the entry hall where they are waiting when the door opens and the two men are ushered into the house.
The two are rather stoic as they enter. They just look around but hide their reactions at coming into a mansion. Likely they've been in more than one since their first abduction. They finally make their way around to where Brice and Savana stand waiting for them, patiently. Well, Savana not so patiently.
Upon seeing Savana they lose their cool. "Savana?" Their voices are a combination of horror and fright on her behalf. But it was all Savana needed to run over to them. They both engulf her in a giant three way hug.
"Savana what the hell are you doing here? You should be safe at home." Jasper says all but crying, he suspects he knows why she is here, but still doesn't understand why they are.
Savana shakes her head. She looks back at Brice and he makes his way over to the group and hands Savana the iPad she nearly dropped in her excitement to reach the boys.
"Savana was taken by the sheriff, much like I suppose you two were." Brice's words make the boys both turn white.
"That bastard didn't rape you did he?" Jasper demands.
Savana shakes her head and starts writing. Brice fills the confused men in while she does. "She wasn't, but the sheriff was particularly brutal when he took her. Killed her father, violated her mother and his men made her watch before killing her and then he killed her boyfriend when he protested."
"Shit," Jasper says softly. They both lost their mother, but at least she was left alone and unharmed by that bastard.
"Not ma and pa," Grayson says tears in his eyes. Her parents were like second parents to them. Just like their mother was a second mother to Savana. As far as their mother is concerned, Savana is her daughter. She always wanted one, but after Grayson wasn't able to have more children. Part of the reason the two boys more or less adopted her as their sister was because of how happy she made their mother when she visited.
Savana nods and with tears in her eyes hands the iPad over to the boys to read. Brice continues explaining. "Due to her trauma, Savana is unable to speak. The feds allowed her to come back with me because I have the means and ability to help her get her life back together as much as possible. They came over today and talked to Savana to make sure that she feels safe and that I'm getting her the care she needs. They weren't happy about the report they got, because the therapist told them that it would be a mistake to take her away from here." Brice tells them but Savana is shaking her head.
She writes, "He said that it would be a mistake taking me away from you and that I would never trust law enforcement again." She shows the words to Brice and then to the boys. They all smile at that.
Brice continues, "When they asked for her help in identifying those from her hometown she agreed. She gave them your names as well as three other females." Jasper starts swearing. They hadn't known. Hell, they hadn't known that they both were there either. The slaves were kept in cubicles that were blocked off from the sight of all others including other slaves. They also had strict orders to not speak to each other. Slaves that break the rules are severely punished.
"Since the feds couldn't get you to speak or give them your names they were especially glad that Savana was able to identify you two. When they said that you weren't speaking to them, well, the look on Savana's face told me that I needed to offer you a place here as well. She needs you as much as you need the mental therapy. I believe that she feels safe with you two. She feels comfortable here, but not truly safe. Especially not after hearing that bastard Sheriff talking to me earlier." Brice tells them finally.
Jasper narrows his eyes at Brice, "Just what were you doing talking to that bastard?"
Grayson puts his hand on Jaspers arm. "I think it would be good for us to know who our benefactor and Savana's benefactor is before we start any fights." Grayson has been in some very volatile places and doesn't want to be punished if words can take care of the problem.
Brice relaxes and looks a bit chagrined at the reminder. "Forgive me, I had a welcoming speech planned and every thing. I think that Savana's welcome was far better than my speech though. My name is Brice Jensen and I welcome you to my home."
As soon as Brice gives them his name the two stiffen up and a guarded look comes onto their face. "Forgive us the disrespect earlier sir, we didn't know." Jasper manages to get out. All of their previous owners were mafia and they were all terrified of Brice Jensen.
Brice nods at his words and the two brothers relax just a bit. "Sir, no disrespect meant, but just how the hell did you get the feds to allow you to care for Savana and us?"
Brice smirks at them, "They were less than thrilled about letting me bring Savana home last night, but you should have seen her. She was shattered, absolutely shattered. The feds don't have the resources to get her the top help she would need to get her life back together and Agent Anderson recognized that and allowed me to bring her to my home. Or rather my right hand man, KK, to bring her home since I had to follow through with the charade and be arrested for intent of human trafficking."
That's when Savana shows them what she wrote earlier before she had to correct Brice on the wording of her therapist.
"You were going to buy her?" Jasper is furious all over again.
"Calm down, bro, you didn't finish reading what she wrote." Grayson tells him.
The two read all that Savana has written and they relax and look thoughtfully at Grayson. "So now what, sir?" Jasper asks cordially.
"First off, you two are guests just like Savana. You will be allowed to call me Brice. Second of all, can you two use guns?" Brice hopes so. The more protection he can get Savana the better he'll feel.
Jasper snorts, "Yeah, our father was a big believer in the second amendment right of keeping and bearing arms. He had a somewhat decent collection, I'm sure it's nothing to what you have, Brice, but he taught us both how to respect and use guns. Every thing up to military grade weapons. He didn't think we would need an assault rifle or learn to be snipers."
His words make Brice smile. "Very good!" He looks around and spots KK and motions him forward. "KK, make sure that our guests get dinner and then after they have a chance to eat and rest show them the armory and gun range. Have one of the ex spec forces work with them and evaluate them."
"Yes, of course, Boss." KK replies and writes down the new orders. He knows just who he'll talk with after dinner.
"Boys, this is KK, my right hand man. If there is anything you need and can't talk to me, talk to him." Brice motions Johnson forward, "This is Savana's full time bodyguard, Johnson. He has a couple of daughters around her age and so he is very protective of her. I want you to practice shooting and carry a gun with you. I want you to be secondary defense for Savana.
"That bastard found out that I have her and he wants her back. Wants more money than what he already received for her. I'm expecting him to attack within the next week. He was pretty adamant."
"How do you figure that?" Jasper inquires.
"Her boyfriend that was killed protecting her? It was Grant. If he was willing to kill his brother to get to her, then he's stupid enough to come against me."
Grayson snorts in derision. "If he comes against you he is stupid. All my owners were terrified of you. They did say that if you made a promise or a deal that you would fulfill it to the utmost, but if you were betrayed or messed with that you would retaliate full force as well."
"Yes, I keep my promises to the best of my ability. I promised I would take care of Savana and you two. And I will. That ass will come for her, but I don't think his fed informant has told him just how implacable I can be.
"Dinner is just about ready. Savana, I know you weren't wanting to join us earlier, but would you change your mind and join us? You don't have to eat much, but the doctor was worried and you need to eat a few bites at least."
"Why would the doctor be worried?" Grayson asks looking at Savana worried about her now.
"Before she came here last night, she hadn't remembered eating anything since she was taken. Just some water that was likely drugged. She was severely dehydrated and starving. Just a cup of broth and some toast with a slice of cheese filled her up." Brice tells them and Savana is blushing furiously at this point.
"I'm not hungry, but I'll try a few bites." Savana writes down.
Brice hides his smile, "Thank you, Savana." The boys are horrified and sickened.
"How long ago was she taken?" Jasper asks while Grayson does his best to tease Savana and make her blush some more.
"It's been about a week. Do you and Grayson even know where you are?" Brice asks softly. He doesn't want to embarrass the boys.
Jasper merely shakes his head. Transporting of slaves is done with their eyes covered or in a covered vehicle like a van.
Brice rolls his eyes, "Dumbass feds. You are in New York. Just a few minutes out from Utica."
Savana gets all excited and writes something on her iPad. "I'm going to Platt University in Utica in the fall. Brice is taking me to see the dean tomorrow, if he has time to get me enrolled in online rather than in regular classes because of that pig sheriff."
"How about you boys, were your college plans derailed by the sheriff?" Brice asks intently.
Jasper snorts inelegantly. "There was no money for either of us to go to university and unlike Savana, we weren't intelligent enough for scholarships. I was going to join the military and perhaps through them be able to go to school. Now? I'm about at the age where they wouldn't accept me and I'm not sure that I would do well there any more." Brice nods sadly. Jasper would need to pass a psych evaluation before he'd be allowed to enter any way and there's a good chance that he wouldn't pass, not at this time anyhow.
"What about you, Grayson? Were you going to join the military?"
"Naw, being given a bunch of orders and expected to follow them wasn't my thing. Still isn't, but I learned anyway. I was interested in going to trade school. I thought maybe something along the lines of IT." Grayson shrugs, he learned a long time ago to let go of dreams. He no longer knows what he wants to do.
Brice looks at him thoughtfully. "I have some guys that are excellent in IT. If you would be interested I could have you spend some time with them and they could teach you." For the first time Brice sees some interest come onto Grayson's face.
"I would love that, thank you Brice." Grayson tells him smiling widely.
Savana turns towards Brice and signs thank you.
"Savana just said thank you." Jasper tells him.
"She knows sign?"
"We three know a few signs. There was a deaf kid that lived near us. He was one of the few that would play with Savana. We learned a few of the basics."
"Wow, how do you sign, You're welcome?" Brice asks and Jasper is pleased to show him the sign. Brice practices until they reach the dining room.
"Men, as you likely noticed, we have two more guests. Jasper and Grayson were also at the auction last night. When the feds asked Savana to go through and identify those she knew from her hometown, she picked three females and these two. These two will be staying with us and receiving the same care and respect that Savana is given. They are good friends of hers and it would distress her greatly to find them treated badly."
"Sir, how did you convince the feds to let you take two more ex-slaves in?" One of the men dares to ask.
"Because of Savana. She was able to name them when they wouldn't give their names. She was so excited to hear that I would ask to be allowed to have them that even the feds could see it would do her some good. When she turned heartbroken realizing that the feds wouldn't be likely to let me take care of them they were upset. They weren't happy, but they did offer to let me have these two join us.
"KK will be talking to some of you and we'll need to meet in my office, about assignments." With that they all began to eat dinner.
