Twelve
-Alice's Point of View-
. . .
"We're going to school an hour early." I said as we all sat about the sitting room watching the sun come up.
"Why?" Bella questioned me.
"I just saw that Emmaline will need our help with some signs about the upcoming tryouts." I said, I also didn't miss the way Jasper involuntarily shifted in his seat just the slightest bit at the mention of Emmaline's name.
"I'm gonna get a hunt in before school." Jasper announced before standing up and running out of the house.
"Does he really think he's fooling anyone?" Rosalie asked with a slight smirk.
"He does it so he won't hurt the students." Carlisle chimed in gently defending Jasper.
"He does it so he won't hurt her." Edward corrected. "Her blood doesn't sing to him the way Bella's did to me, but he finds her particular scent intoxicating and he doesn't want to lose control."
I didn't want Edwards confession to hurt me, but it did.
"Are they any closer to opening up toward each other?" Esme asked hopefully.
"They sit next to each other in AP Lit." Emmett admitted.
"I know Emmaline said their Euro History class is tough and that Jasper offered to help her when he saw her low grade on a homework assignment." Nessie added.
"Well that's something." Esme smiled widely.
I was about to get up and excuse myself when my sight disappeared and yet another vision took it's place.
...
-Carmen and Eleazor, they were now in Spain, and they are with a guy, a newborn. They are extremely close to the guy.-
Then suddenly my vision changes
-I see myself walking along a cobblestone street in the middle of the night. I look up and then stop, but I didn't stop willingly, I was pulled to a stop as someone is holding my hand. The hand gently pulls me in closer and as I remain looking up the sky is now behind the face of the same guy i had seen with Carmen and Eleazor. He leaned down to kiss me and I ready myself for the kiss, I close my eyes and the vision disappeared.-
"Alice?" Edward sounded worriedly.
I knew he would have just seen the same thing I had. So he knew what I was about to say.
"Did you have a vision?" Bella questioned me.
"Y-yeah." My voice stuck in my throat.
"Well what was it?" Rosalie impatiently asked.
"I'm leaving."
Silence filled the room.
"Is this a permanent thing Alice?" Asked Carlisle.
"No, I don't think so, I will be away with Carmen and Eleazor, apparently my love is with them."
"Are you sure?" Bella looked at me.
I gave her a small smile. "I've kissed him, and I don't go around kissing boys I don't love."
"Who have you kissed?"
Everyone stiffened as Jasper's voice hit our ears.
"Jasper, it's not how it sounded." I tried to amend. The rest of our family politely left the sitting room in an attempt to give the two of us some privacy. "I've had a vision, turns out there is another guy."
"Is this suppose to make me feel better?" His arms crossed over his chest.
"I only meant that I have seen you happy with the love of your life and only just now I've seen the same for myself." I said softly. "Jasper I love you so much, and I know you love me, now imagine what you feel for me magnified times a hundred. That's how you will feel with the other girl."
He remained silent and he let my words sink in.
"I know it's scary, and yes I admit that the thought of you with someone else does make me jealous. But if we don't at least try then we will never know."
"So when are you leaving?"
I shrugged. "Probably after school today."
He nodded.
"We should get going, Emmaline needs us." I said. Suddenly the doors from all around the house slowly began opening as the others joined us and we all left with goodbyes to Esme and Carlisle.
When we pulled into the parking lot of course the only cars on the property were in the faculty parking area, otherwise we were alone.
But not too long after our arrival the distinct Purple car pulled into the parking lot and she took her usual parking spot.
"Good morning y'all." She greeted us warmly. "Wish I could stay and chat but I gotta head to the gym and start getting everything ready for the cheer try-outs tomorrow. I hope all of you girls try out."
"That's not really my sort of thing." Bella insisted.
"Yeah I'm not so sure Alice and I are going to try out either." Rosalie put in.
"Well tryouts are open to the public so if y'all wanna come and cheer on Ness feel free to stop on by." She said, "see y'all later."
She waved bye and headed to the gym.
"I feel dumb just standing here." Jacob stated.
"Just be patient," Edward sounded.
We talked amongst ourselves, but mostly it was Renesme exclaiming how excited she was about tomorrow, there is no way I could miss her tryouts, I would have to delay my exit another day.
Then we all heard the slightly fast footfalls as Emmaline jogged back over to us.
"Hey you're back." Emmett smiled. "What's all that?"
Emmaline was carrying both arms full of rolled up signs, she also had rolls of tape on her arms like bracelets.
"Well they're the signs that I have to put up so everyone can see that both Cheer and Football tryouts are tomorrow." She confessed a little out of breath, "unfortunately I think my helpers forgot so I have a big favor to ask of you guys."
We all remained quiet until she finally mustered up the courage to ask us.
"I know it's short notice but would you boys please help me hang these banners up, it would be a huge help as there is no way I can do it by myself."
The guys all agreed and us girls offered to help however we could.
Edward and Jacob left with Bella and Renesme to hang banners in two different buildings.
I stayed with Jasper, Emmett, Rosalie, and Emmaline.
"How are we gonna do this?" Jasper asked as he looked up at the top of the doors.
They had to hang the banner higher than the door frame.
"You two are both going to have to lift me, cheerleader style." She admitted before going into detail about how they had to get her up there. "Before we start, Rosalie, Alice do you mind blocking the doors so no one tries to open them while I'm up there?"
Of course we agreed, I stepped inside while Rosalie stood watch outside.
Emmaline readied herself by tucking in her top, and stepping out of her shoes.
The guys did exactly as she had instructed and in an instant, as I looked out the windows on the doors, all I could see were her ankles and the lower half of her shins.
Even on the other side of the door I could hear everything perfectly. So I didn't miss Emmett's slight teasing. "Your feet stink."
She allowed herself to giggle then stopped, "cut it out, we gotta be serious." Her small voice came out. About a minute passed and finally she spoke again "Alright guys time to CAREFULLY move to the left."
I watched as her legs smoothly went by to the other side of the windowed doors, and after another minute she was finished
"Thank god, time to bring me down guys."
Then there was a pause, she must not have known how to get down.
I sighed, I had seen the way she would come down from being held up. And surprisingly I wasn't hurt like I had been when I first saw the vision late last night, no, now I was a little frustrated because I wanted to just tell her what to do.
Suddenly her heartbeat picked up from its normal cadence.
I'm no Jasper but I knew something was wrong.
Of course he felt it and before it could get worse he must have calmed her down because her heartbeat was back to normal and she took control once more.
"Emmett walk over to Jasper." She commanded lightly.
He did as he was told.
"Alright Jasper I'm going to trust you, can I trust you?" She asked.
"Yes."
I couldn't help but smile. Emmaline most certainly could trust Jazz. One day he would love her and she would love him, and he would do everything in his power to protect her and always keep her happy. And she would ultimately know our secret and she would trust that Jasper would NEVER hurt her.
She continued with her instructions on what they had to do.
"What do you mean?" Jasper asked.
"When I say so, wrap both arms around my legs like you're hugging them, but not too tight because I have to be able to slide down, Emmett will be there incase I come down to fast."
Both boys nodded.
"Ready?" She asked.
"Ready." They replied simultaneously.
"Okay, now."
I watched from behind the windowed doors as Emmaline slide down into the tight embrace of Jasper.
Neither of them noticed that he kept his arms around her middle even after she had stopped sliding down.
He looked down at her, and she looked up at him.
They were having another moment.
It is the first time they've been this close, it is the first time they've touched.
But the moment didn't last long as they quickly realized what was happening and Jasper placed her steadily on solid ground before he moved his arms away.
But she responded by wrapping her arms around him as she said a soft "thank you." Then she did the same to Emmett so that moment wasn't too special, even though I know Jasper will over analyze it like he over analyzes everything when he's in doubt. She put her black wedge booties back on and we left to put the remaining two banners up.
Once we finished she thanked us all for helping her and soon everyone started arriving.
"Hey the banners look great." Leander commented as he approached us.
"Yeah no thanks to you." She bit out.
"Oh Em, I completely forgot I said I would help you." He laughed.
The bell rang, "whatever Leander, I gotta get to class."
I suppose Emmaline doesn't like being let down. Either way, for once, I was glad that Jasper was there to help her.
