-Jasper's Point of View-
. . .
My thoughts flip flopped from Alice to Emmaline.
I tried my hardest to zone them both out, but the fact of the matter is Alice is leaving, she's leaving us, she's leaving me.
And on the other spectrum it seems like Emmaline is moving closer, well closer to my family at least.
I couldn't stop thinking about the unexpected hug she gave me this morning. The way her her warm arms embraced me, for the slightest moment I even entertained the idea of hugging her back, the fact of the matter is I held completely still as it wasn't something I enjoyed right away. Her scent had stirred something deep inside of my body, the feeling was a bit foreign and out of my own fear I was worried it was tied to my usual blood lust.
But her warm hug didn't last long as she left me and also hugged Emmett, only he is more comfortable around her and embraced her in return.
A low growl built in my chest.
'What the hell?' I wondered curiously about my unregistered action.
I looked up and stared at the shiny thick brownish red locks, the strands lumped together nicely to form slight curls to her hair.
A paper was placed on my desk face down, the action pulled me from my staring.
I heard a small groan come from the desk in front of me.
I looked down at the paper and turned it over, perfect scores of 100 percent
But when I looked back up I saw Emmaline looking at me. She was turned in her seat looking back at me, she tucked her hair behind her ear as her nervousness made it difficult to look me in the eye. "Um so I was wondering if the offer was still on the table?"
"And what would that be?" I asked, as if I could forget so easily, to be honest I just wanted to get her to look up at me, for some reason I felt the need to see her eyes.
I could feel her emotions all over the place, I could have easily calmed her down, but I kind of like watching her little mannerisms associated with her nervousness. Like the way she gathers all of her hair to the left side of her head and runs a hand through the top before fluffing it back up to make sure she hasn't flattened it. How she looks down and grabs a small bit of then ends of her hair in an attempt to busy her hands and keep from looking at the person she was talking to.
"Well you mentioned that you could help me with some of this." She said as she turned back around and gather a few papers, she turned back to me before showing them, all had low marks of failure. A slight flush of pink colored her cheeks as I looked at her grades. "It seems I need your help more than I thought I would, I mean not to say that I doubted your intelligence before, that is, I didn't mean that I thought I was smarter than you, I mean clearly I'm not, it's just-"
"It's okay." I said, I couldn't help but smirk at her slightly embarrassed ramble. "We can study after lunch."
"Really?" She finally looked at me for the first time.
Her Hazel eyes seemed to sparkle as she now smiled. That same feeling stirred deep inside me once more, and this time she wasn't even touching me.
I turned my vision away from her eyes and started rewriting down this weeks assigns that were posted on the board.
"Yeah, I know you have cheerleading stuff, plus it's really the only time I have free during the week." I made up.
"Alright, well thanks Jasper."
Her smile was significantly softer but still genuine and I found I couldn't stop staring at her, but I couldn't look for too long as she turned back around in her seat.
I sighed in a frustrated fashion.
I don't know what it is about this girl, this simple human child that has me questioning everything about myself or my actions.
Emmaline is a good girl, a sweet girl.
But the fact remains that Alice will be leaving me for good tonight, that is what I should be focusing on. That and this "new guy."
