Sixteen
-Emmaline's Point of View-
. . .
"I'm home."
"Good afternoon honeybee, how was your day?" Marta greeted me.
"It was good, where's momma?"
"Your mother has gone out of town with some friends for a spa retreat."
"I'm guessing that means Daddy won't be home either." I stated as I walked into the kitchen. I tossed my purse onto the counter before rummaging around for something to munch on.
"Now your father is a very busy man." Marta defended, "why don't you go on upstairs and get comfortable while I make you a snack."
"No thanks, I'm gonna hit up the mall and grab a bite with some friends."
She nodded, I did go upstairs to change out my purse and switch into shorts and sneakers. I also grabbed an empty overnight bag, it seems I no longer need permission to go to the Cullen's tonight. I threw in my toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, hairbrush and a couple black elastic bands to hold my hair up, the rest I can purchase at the mall.
I didn't bother calling anyone, I knew I was bound to run into someone, plus I really just wanted to be alone for a while.
I immediately went into Starbucks and ordered a small frap for a slight pick me up.
My next stop was Victoria's Secret, I picked up a new set of pajamas that are super cute, because you simply cannot show up to an Alice Cullen slumber party in raggedy old pajamas.
I also went into the Nike Store where I picked up a few workout outfits, sports bras, socks, and brand new sneakers.
To be honest I really wasn't in a shopping mood as I found myself sort of walking aimlessly, I don't want to do the whole "woe is me" spiel but my life isn't exactly a great one.
Yes I have both parents, a nice house, i'm head cheerleader and captain of the squad. But underneath all of those things are all sorts of issues.
Cheerleading for instance, while I love it, it comes with it's own cross to bear, a lot of people just see me as an empty headed girl. So I have to work harder than most to prove that I'm not just some dunce.
My nice house, well it's just that because it most certainly isn't a home considering my parents are almost always gone, if I didn't have Marta I would be alone.
As for my parents, while they're married it isn't exactly a loving relationship. Now don't get me wrong, they don't argue or anything like that, then again I suppose they have to be around each other to actually argue. Both of my parents work very hard, but my father is constantly away for business meetings and my mother can run her company from her computer so she is always gone on shopping trips or spa retreats. Their marriage is one of convenience, a show for clients and the community, nothing more.
I looked down at my cellphone and saw it was barely going on 3. I decided to go to the movies to kill time.
Once I got to the movies I called Marta and told her I was going to spend the night at my friends house, then I got off and picked one of the longest movies they were showing.
2 and a half hours later I walked out of the theater rubbing my cheeks from laughing so hard. I ran into some girls from last years squad. "I hope I'll see all of you at the tryouts tomorrow morning." I said as I waved them goodbye.
I made it back to my car and my stomach grumbled. "I suppose I should eat before I go." I said to myself as I looked at the clock on my dashboard, it was half past 5.
I pulled into the parking lot and ripped off the tags of my new items and placed them into my over night bag and put the extra items back into their shopping bags and placed them in the back seat. I got out of the car and entered the nice restaurant.
As I waited to be seated I saw a few kids from school there with their families, I smiled at them and then the host showed me to a booth in the very back, I was thankful for the privacy. I sat alone and ate an entire meal while I scrolled through pictures on Instagram. Once I finished I paid and tipped the waiter extremely well for being so attentive, then I decided to go ahead and go over to the Cullen's house, I just hope Alice won't mind my coming a bit early.
. . . . .
"I'm so glad you could make it." Alice squealed as she hugged me before taking my bag.
"Thanks for inviting me."
Once again she waved my words away "it really is my pleasure. We'll take your things up to my bedroom and then I'll give you the grand tour." She informed me, that's the thing about Alice, she may be just as small as me but unlike myself, Alice demands and commands a room effortlessly.
As she said we put my things in her room, which is to die for, then she showed me around the second floor.
I found out that the couples actually share the same rooms, I was surprised, Mrs Cullen seems so proper I could hardly believe she was allowing the kids to just shack up under her roof.
"Carlisle and Esme figured since they're in a relationship there was no breaking any of them up so they just let them share rooms. But don't worry nothing happens especially with Bella and Edward right next door." Alice commented as she closed Renesme and Jacob's door and walked to the next door and opened it.
"That's right, Bella and Renesme are actually blood related right?" I stated, remembering Esme had informed me they were sister.
We made our way up to the third floor and she actually walked into Emmett and Rosalie's room, "You gotta check out their closet, I really wanted this room but I figured they should have it since it's the both of them."
"I don't know where you lived before but this closets pretty standard." I pointed out, this closet was probably the same size as mine at home. "Now you want to see a closet, you should see my moms closet. When we first moved in the house was a five bedroom now we have a four bedroom and a massive closet. My mom can get a little carried away when it comes to shopping." I admitted.
"She sounds great."
I shrugged, "she's great when you can actually get a chance to spend with her." To be honest I was a little hurt when I found out she was gonna be gone this weekend, I can't even remember the last time she came out to watch me cheer. Not that I'm going to be trying out or anything, it's just refreshing know in your parents care enough about you to put everything on hold to come out just to support you.
"Well there's still one more room up here before I show you the downstairs rooms." Alice said, she must've picked up on my emo mood.
"This is actually a pretty long hallway." I sounded.
"It's their bathrooms." Alice confessed. "Come on" she grabbed my hand and pulled me into the room lightly.
The room was simple yet masculinely done. There was a large bed made up neatly, a desk with a closed laptop, a small lamp, and an ancient looking globe, but the entire back wall was shelves filled with books and different little knick-knacks. I walked up to the books and saw multiple books about various wars and different periods in history. Had I not been shown the other rooms I would know now that I was standing in Jasper's room.
"I though you said something about his bathroom being against this wall?" I asked a bit puzzled, his closet doors where wide open so I could clearly see his clothes but no restroom.
"It's in there, look." She said grabbing my hand once more, this time pulling me through the closet. This closet was long where Rosalie and Emmett's was wide, but just as she said at the very back of the closet was in fact a door, she turned the knob and revealed a pristinely clean bathroom.
The extremely white bathroom seemed to glow, it had a brand new toilet, a large stand alone shower, and a long counter with two sinks.
The counter carried a few products such as Jasper's toothbrush and toothpaste, different bottles of cologne, hair products, a brush and a comb.
"I don't know if we should be in here, I feel like we're invading Jasper's privacy." I confessed as I stood in the center of his restroom, Alice leaning comfortably against the counter.
"Alright then let's get out of here."
I moved quickly out of the restroom and through the closet.
"Ladies."
I stopped and looked up at being caught by Jasper, although he didn't seem upset with Alice and I, I could tell he was uncomfortable with our presence.
"Just showing Emma around the house." Alice admitted.
"I'm going out for a while." He acknowledged before turning and leaving his own room.
"I hope we didn't make him mad." I said sadly. I don't know why watching him leave made me feel so sad.
"Nah, Jazz has been spending a lot of time alone lately, he'll be alright though."
. . . . .
"So I can't believe that you're single." Rosalie sounded.
Everyone had come back to the Cullen house and now all the girls and I were in our pajamas, Alice insisted we do the typical slumber party routine of mani/pedi time.
I shrugged nonchalantly as Renesme painted my fingers, "I've dated guys before, but a lot of guys around here are sorta the same and I've learned that that's just not my type."
"Well what is your type?" Bella asked as she allowed Alice to paint her toes.
I smiled at her, "I want a true southern gentleman." I smiled before emphasizing what I meant. "Well I like charming guys who know the difference between being friendly and polite versus flirting. I also like a guy who can fight but chooses not to, I like to know that if something happened he could protect me."
"That's all fine and well but c'mon," Rosalie snickered playfully, "we want to know what you look for in a guy physically."
I blushed a little, "I don't think there's anything specific." I lied.
"You are such a liar!" Alice picked up with a smile, "everybody has something that they are attracted to now drop the good girl act and fess up."
There is one thing that I've always been drawn to but I know if I say it one of them is bound to notice that Jasper had this particular quality.
"Tell us, we can keep a secret." Renesme said.
I sighed, "fine I like tall guys."
The three sisters giggled as they looked at each other.
"But is it really such a factor, I mean everyone is tall compared to me so it's not really that big of a deal." I tried to downplay, too bad my mind went immediately to an image of Jasper when I admitted it.
"Fine fine, time for movies." Alice acknowledged as they calmed down.
We had watched a couple of movies already and now we put on the third movie but sort of tuned it out to talk.
"Lets do something." Renesme pouted boredly.
Suddenly I remembered a game I use to love from my childhood. It was hide and go seek, but as we're much older than I was back then I thought playing in the dark would make for a fun twist so I filled them in.
They agreed excitedly.
"Alright you all go call the guys I'm going to inform Esme what we're doing so she won't worry." Alice said.
I ran up the stairs anxiously as I made my way up to Jasper's room.
I knocked on his door and not a minute later he opened the door.
Oh." I sounded as I was greeted by his bare chest.
I was shocked and slightly embarrassed as well as a bit turned on by seeing Jasper half naked. "W-we're all going, um, well we're all going outside to play." I said, before I closed my eyes and groaned internally. I sounded so dorky, I couldn't help but shake my head as I knew there was no way I could take back what I just said, "it's gonna be cooler than it sounds."
