-Jasper's Point of View-
. . .
"Hey man why don't we go our for a hunt." Emmett came out and insisted.
"I've already fed today."
"Well come with then, Rosie doesn't want to go, and I don't wanna go by myself." He replied.
I really wasn't up for watching Emmett play with his food, but I also couldn't help but want to run back up to the bedroom.
"Fine." I finally agreed.
"Hey what's that?" Emmett asked as he pointed to the small card in my hand.
"Oh it fell out of Emmaline's car," I lied. "But it looks like a thank you note."
"Cool, well let's go then."
A small lingering scent of the girl had weaved itself into the card and I couldn't help but pick up in the fragrant scent as I placed the card in the pocket of my shirt.
Images of the girls face filled my head, how adorably worried she looked as she thought the cake would fall, how her eyes seemed to light up when I reached out and helpped her. the way her light freckles stood out in the sun as I opened the car door for her.
I ran a hand through my hair to calm myself down, maybe I could go for another drink after all.
Together Emmett and I found large kills and drank.
"So Emmaline..." Emmett started suggestively. "That's a pretty name."
"She's a pretty girl." I countered boredly.
"She seemed to like our family well enough."
I shrugged, "I guess so." I replied as I tried hard not to think about the stunning female I had encountered only moments ago.
"And how did you like her?" He asked.
I pulled my brows together, "I liked her fine I suppose, she was kind and well mannered plus her emotions weren't all over the place, something that is more than welcome to me at the moment."
Emmett nodded silently.
We walked a bit before he started up again.
"So I know it's soon and all, but do you think you could see yourself with her?"
I felt the pleading and slight desperation in his words.
"Emmett I want you to bevery honest with me right now." I said as calmly as I could. "Is something going on that I don't know about."
I felt his panic as he tried to come up with an answer and I stormed away from him back toward the house. Of course when I arrived I was greeted by Edward.
"Let's go for a drive." He sounded.
There was no point in arguing, Edward had all the answers, but talking with him meant he would only give out what he thinks you should know, not what you want to know.
I got into his "family" car and we took off, no doubt this would be one of the vehicles that we ride to school in.
"Is there something that you guys know that I do not?" I asked into the thick silence.
"Yes."
"Does everyone know what's going on?" I questioned him further.
"Yes."
"Will you tell me?" I already knew the answer before I asked the questioned.
"No." He answered.
"I'm guessing this has to do with Alice's vision."
"Yes, Jasper as you know Alice had a vision and in true Alice fashion she acted on it setting off a whole string of events." He said.
"She basically asked for a divorce."
"You two weren't legally married as you're vampires so it's basically two people breaking up." He countered.
I have him a look that said 'like that's any better.' "Fine she broke up with me, and she said the reason behind it is another guy."
"No," he shook his head with a smirk. "From what I heard you asked if there was someone else and she replied with yes." He smiled and gave me a knowing look, "she never said there is another guy."
"Are you telling me there is another girl, that i'm going to move on with someone else?"
He shrugged, "I won't let that happen, I've made up my mind, I will follow Alice forever until she takes me back. my course is set now."
He gave me a sympathetic look, "you know Alice sticks to her visions, it's only a matter of time until she finds someone else and then what will you do?"
"I'll continue to love her."
"You can still do that with someone else." He tried to encourage, "look I'm not suppose to say anything but Alice's mind was open when she had her vision so I saw it just as clearly as she did for myself. Jazz you were happy, I mean in a way I have never seen you before. This girl brought out an entirely different side of you and I know that's why Alice did what she did, yes it hurts you two right now but I promise you that in the future you and Alice are both happier people."
"I only agreed to her divorce because I wanted her to be happy, even if it wasn't with me." I admitted.
"And she did the exact same for you. you can't fault her for doing what you yourself tried to do."
I nodded, Edward was right.
"It's just so hard to imagine a future with anyone else none the less a happy one."
He smiled, "you can't have a rainbow without a little rain."
I chuckled, "that's on one of Esme's magnets."
"Does it make it any less true?" He countered as he wore his own smile now. "Anyways, I just wanted to tell you not to push anybody away, whether it's us, Alice, or any girls you might meet...one of them could be your souls mate."
I crossed my arms over my chest and suddenly felt the little card in my pocket.
"Is it from Emmaline?" He asked.
"Yeah" I said as I retrieved it. I opened it for the first time and smiled at her elegant handwriting. "She said she had forgotten to bring it in with the cake, she wrote her number down for the family as well incase we need anything."
Edward smiled, I could feel his eagerness.
"She's just a nice girl doing the neighborly thing." I insisted.
"That's fine, just remember what I said, don't push anyone away."
"I won't, but I also won't pursue anyone either."
He shook his head and smiled. "I suppose it's better than nothing."
