AN: remember I said this story would be super cliche? Well here it comes.... Brace yourselves
I stand in the full sized mirror in the bathroom as I button up my red flannel shirt. Today is the day. Darren is going to drag me to this stupid concert and force me to face my fears.
I guess he's the professional and this is what he does for a living but it doesn't mean I have to like his methods of fixing me...
What if I don't want to be fixed?
"Thats it?" Darren asks walking in to the bathroom. "That's the outfit you chose for this thing?" He asks, disappointment in his voice.
"Yeah, I didn't want to be too over the top so I picked something really simple." I explain my thinking behind the casual outfit. "Plus, it's comfortable."
"Are you kidding me, baby?" Darren asks while laughing. "I want this guy to see what he is missing out on." He says, pulling my hips into his. "I want him to regret ever leaving you. You should want him to see you as the powerhouse you are and that you aren't to be messed with. Dress how you want him to see you."
I don't want him to see me at all.
But, as much as I don't want to admit it, Darren is right. His speech inspires me. I should dress up like my life depends on it. It isn't every day you get to show an ex what he is missing and how much better you are doing without him.
I nod as I evaluate my outfit in the mirror. "I'll go change."
I search my closet for the perfect outfit to wear. I want something I feel comfortable in but also something that makes me look more desirable than jeans and a flannel shirt I borrowed from my fiancé.
I think I've got the perfect one to wear. It is going to make all the boys jealous. Chris is going to wish he never let me go after he sees me in this.
I walk out of my closet with my new, powerful, outfit and smile as I see the look on Darren's face. "Much better."
I nod in agreement and grab his hand as he pulls me down the stairs.
"I think I am actually kind of excited for this now." I admit, feeling butterflies in my stomach as we enter the car.
"Well don't get too excited. Remember this concert isn't for fun. It's for healing" He reminds me as he begins driving.

There is a huge amount of enthusiasm in the air. Darren waits impatiently for the doors to open. He spent a lot of money on these tickets. He just wants to get inside.
I don't blame him. He probably just wants to get this thing done and over with. He is bringing his fiance to a concert her ex is performing at. If I were him, I would want this to be over as quickly as possible. It is not exactly the best date night idea.
After handing in our tickets, we walk through the venue.
I am immediately aware that I am one of the oldest girls here. I cross my arms over my chest in an attempt to cover up my daringly low cut top. I am suddenly a lot less secure of my body after seeing everyone else's outfits.
"Don't get self-conscious on me now babe. You look beautiful." Darren compliments me after noticing my dramatic change in body language.
We enter the room where the actual concert will take place and my heart jumps through my chest. It's really happening. It's a really, really small venue. Which means there is a high chance that every face will be seen in here tonight. Including mine. Great.
Now I can't wait for this thing to be over.
Darren and I take our seats and wait for this torture to begin so we can count down to the time it will end. Hopefully after all of this is finally done and over with, I will never have to see Chris or the others ever again.
The lights in the room dim, causing every single person in the room to scream at the top of their lungs and jump to their feet. I roll my eyes. If only they knew what these boys are like in real life when the cameras are turned off. They would be screaming for another reason.
The three of them gather on the stage, causing even more screams to erupt from the fans. These boys could sneeze and the crowd would go wild. I can't believe it. All of these fans are wrapped around their fingers.
"Here we go." Chris says in my ear as he shuffles behind me. He holds his hands around my shoulders and squeezes them periodically to let me know he is still there. I nod and take a deep breath as they begin singing on stage.
I blank out during the first song. I stare on stage, glaring at Chris as he bounces around, interacting with fans who hold their hands out for him to grab. He wanders over to me, locking his eyes with mine.
He holds his arm out for me to grab. I shake my head as he leans down further. I shake my head again. I am not going up on stage with him. There is no way in hell that I would get up there and do anything but embarrass myself.
He leaves the edge of the stage and runs back to a crew member on the sides. During an instrumental period of the song, Chris talks to the woman without the mic do no one can hear them talk. She nods and leaves the stage.
The song ends and Chris laughs. "I see a lot of familiar faces out in the crowd tonight." He places the microphone back on its stand so he won't have to hold it any longer. "This is our hometown." He pauses to wait for the crowd to die down. "So I have a favor to ask of you guys. Can you help me?" He asks and smiles at their screaming response. "Awesome. So you see, my lovely ex-girlfriend is in the crowd today. Ciara, smile so everyone can see your beautiful face"
I shake my head as I see my face on both of the oversized screens beside the stage. "No. This isn't happening." I say out loud.
"This definitely isn't what I was expecting either." Darren admits. His plan has backfired.
"So I need you guys to help me win her back today. Can you guys do that?" The crowd goes wild. "Awesome! That's what I like to hear! So we need her to feel so in love with this next song that she can't resist falling back in love with me. Ciara, I wrote this song for you." He smiles and looks down at his guitar while he starts strumming.
"When I see your face..."
I turn around to face Darren. I don't want to be on camera anymore. I don't want them to see me.
