JULIETTE:
Aaron looked at me with disbelief.
I cannot believe Kenji walked out on us like that! He was the bait... Now we were catching a fish with a deadly spear hanging on an obvious pole, black against the ocean blue.
"Mr. And Mr. Anderson, I understand you wanted to see me. Thank you for inviting me for the week, I will surely enjoy it here. How may I be of service?" Kassandra asked. I was still blushing from my title and avoiding Aaron's eyes. Should I deny it or let it go? I'll just wait to see what he says.
"Yes, Commander. You understand that our sector is no longer under The Reestablishment. And yours is still following, am I not correct? Please, let us sit," Warner said smoothly, gesturing to the conference table placed in the middle of the training room. The rock climbing wall was on the left while two of the bikes were on the right.
As Kassandra sat down, her one guard stood behind her, staring straight ahead. His hands were clasped in front of his legs.
She crossed her legs and intertwined her fingers, resting them on her higher knee. "You are correct. My sector is still under The Reestablishment, and I think I'll keep it that way," Aaron opened his mouth to reply, but she continued, "I intend to listen to you, as you are letting me stay in the sanctuary of your home. But, before you continue, I need to set something straight," she said in total seriousness. "Your sector was corrupt. You decided to get rid of the force that made that happen. I get it, and good job to you all.
Unlike yours, MY sector is fine and the people really don't see a difference. I let them do what they want and nothing drastic happens. So, once again, before you say anything, I really don't need to switch over to something that doesn't benefit me. You may speak now."
It was my turn to speak, "How are you so sure? I mean, have you actually asked these people what they think? Sure, maybe you have a more peaceful sector on the surface, but there could be internal rebellion on the inside."
I stopped as she leaned over to her guard. He bent down so she could whisper into his ear. He nodded once and then left the room.
"Okay, I see your point. What's in it for me? Not specifically for me ME, but for my people. How will my subjects benefit from my collaboration with you?" She asked.
This time Aaron answered. "Well, for starters, you won't be in a war with us. Second, with every sector we conquer with our armies combined, you get a piece to command with us for being the first person to join us."
"I'm listening," she said.
"Also," Aaron said while Kassandra raised an eyebrow," Whatever supplies we harvest, we can trade with your land. And vice versa."
Kassandra looked down, "I'll think about it."
"And we'll let you. You have the week and more after that." Aaron stood up and I shortly followed.
"Please, allow me to show you to your room," I said sweetly to her. Aaron looked at me, confused to have heard such a nice tone. Trust me, it was forced.
"Thank you," Kassandra said. I led her to the elevator. I turned around to find Aaron staying in the room.
"Aaron, aren't you coming back to the room?" I asked, not sure why he was staying.
"No, love. I'll meet you back at the room," he said. I turned back around and pressed 2 on the elevator button. When we got to the floor, I walked out and led her through a hallway and to the second door on the right.
"This first door is Kenji's and this is yours. If you need anything, feel free to ask me, Aaron, or Kenji," I knew it was rude, but I still turned around and walked back to the elevator. I didn't turn back, I would only be nice to her if she accepted our offer. She would. She had to.
I got into the elevator and heard her door shut softly. I pressed the "T" and descended back to Aaron.
