What is most important to know before you move forward: This series is connected to my other series "Letters From Bats" they share a universe as well as same number of books and similar premises/tropes. You don't have to read one series to read the other but they occasionally make references to one another so I'd recommend it. Like Letters From Bats, this series are standalone but still connect together by the end.

Deciding the love interests for this series was actually harder than in Letters From Bats, not only because Batman has a lot of villains but also because sometimes I'd want to make a character a love interest but then realized that there were no good icons for them (because that's what I use to make covers).

I was also very selective on who I chose. I gave myself a very select pool I could choose from.

My criteria was this:

•Anyone but the Joker (because I hate him with a burning passion)
•Central Batman villains/villains I like first first (so Catwoman, Talia, Riddler, etc)
•Obscure Batman villains/ones I liked
•No mob/corrupt officials (because I find those boring although I did make the exception with Holiday)
•No villains from the future/Batman Beyond
•No alternate reality/multiverse villains

Basically, my criteria boils down to villains I liked because this is my series and it's entirely self indulgent. Besides, I'm the author—it's my book and I can choose anyone I like :)

Here's some characters that I considered but ultimately axed:

•Penguin (couldn't find many icons)
•Mad Hatter (same thing)
•Maxie Zeus (see above)
•Cluemaster (just,, honestly wasn't that interested lol)
•Deadshot (again, see above)
•Clock King (*very* briefly I considered him. But I'm not sure what I would do with him)
•Magpie (no good icons)
•Roxy Rocket (see above)
•Ventriloquist (There are three versions of this villain and as much as I would like to use Peyton again, she already has her own fic with a love interest)
•The Phantasm (wasn't sure what to do with her, especially since I haven't seen Mask of the Phantasm yet)

Makes me sad that some of these didn't work out but I suppose we'll just have to deal with it :/

Oh, I did at one point consider The Creeper, but I don't think he necessarily counts as a villain since he's branded as a heroic Joker.

By the way, here are some of the obscure villains I chose:
•Nocturna
•Anarky (can't tell you why but I have a soft spot for this villain)
•Holiday
•Onomatopoeia
•Killer Moth
•Calendar Girl (as I mentioned in Midnight Visits, she deserves more than she's been given)

The ratio between well known Batman rogues and not is not balanced...then again neither is the female-male ratio of love interests but I'm totally fine with that.

Anyway, moving on to this book specifically, I had intended to give Selina (and Talia who's  love interest is coming up in a few books) a male love interest but I decided against because I forgot that she was bi. And Talia is also bi so giving them both female love interests is just what they deserve🥰

Lots of Court of Owls references will come up in this series by the way (and a little bit in Letters From Bats but that's another story) for reasons that'll make sense as we go along.

Also! The characters here aren't entirely disconnected from one another in this series unlike Letters From Bats. The reasons for this will, again, make more sense once the end of the series ends.

Oh, and before I forget, the trope for this book is Strangers to Lovers.

Anyways, with all that said (I talk a lot, huh?)...

Enjoy :)
