Kei climbed her way up from the fire escape and popped her head up to see Selina sitting by an air conditioner and stroking Isis.

She glances over at Kei, smiling briefly and reaching into her catsuit to pull out a small and folded up paper with clawed hands.

"Here." She says, holding it out for Kei to retrieve.

Kei lifts an eyebrow at the note curiously before taking it from Selina. Her name is on the front in neat cursive. Ironic, considering the note was written on crumbled pad paper.

Meet me at the old Gotham Clock Tower at 7pm. Don't be late.

"Where did you get this?" Kei asks.
"Cheryl gave it to me." Selina explains, hearing to the Iceberg Lounge's hostess. "After you and I left, she said she got a note for you from a waitress. But...it was weird the way she said it. Cheryl didn't recognize her from Oz' staff."
"Wait, a waitress? Did she say what she looked like?" Kei asked, instantly more alert.
"No," Selina's eyebrows furrowed, "why?"

Kei thinks about the woman Phoebe bumped into that night at the lounge. The woman that had scared her so badly with a note.

"The reason Phoebe left last night was because a woman gave her some note. I have no idea what was on it...but I'm thinking this might be the same woman."

If it was the same woman...what did she want with Kei?

"Are you sure you want to go alone?" Selina asks, interrupting Kei's thoughts and making her jump as she towers above. She had come over and leaned forward so she could read the note for herself without Kei realizing.

"I...I don't think I have a choice. Besides, I'm a big girl. I can take care of myself." Selina smiles, amused at that last sentence before her face turns serious again.

"You're probably right. But...if something bad happens to you, I will come looking for you." She explains, moving towards the roof ledge, crouching down to observe the city.

"Why?" Kei asks, not entirely understanding.

Selina turns to her and says,
"Because sometimes in Gotham, you don't come back."

She's gone after that, having jumped off the roof. Her cat, Isis, presumably follows her by following the fire escape's stairs.

And for an hour before her meeting, Kei gets ready and ponders about what Selina said.

Kei arrives inside the clock tower at 7pm sharp.

On the outside, there is a giant, rusty clock and a sign in faded, chipped wood with white letters that almost all gone with the words: "Gotham City Clock Tower".

She immediately is hit by a gust of cold wind. The entire building is made of stone with trash and dust on the ground, furniture being covered by sheets and the walls crawling with ivy.

It looks like it hasn't been used for decades...and yet Kei can't help but have a feeling that someone is still using this place.

She tried to stay still but kept fidgeting, worried about what to expect and also cold from the wind.

"Ah, you came." A feminine voice says from somewhere in the darkness.

Kei jumps and turns around.
"Uh...y—yes I did. What is it that you wanted?"

Suddenly, someone, a different person, puts a hand over Kei's mouth before she can even register what is happening and scream.

"Don't struggle." The voice says again, seeming to be very far away.

The woman reveals herself and it is the same woman from the restaurant just as Kei suspected but she's dressed in assassin gear.

"What...?" Kei begins to ask, her voice growing weaker from the chloroform.

"You wished to find about The Court of Owls, Kei Nakajima? Now is your chance." The woman says cryptically before Kei blacks out.

Author's Notes

Another short chapter, sorry. Ivy was supposed to make an appearance but I wasn't sure how that would work feasibly or how she would know about The Court so we're going to have to settle for this :/

My muse has just fled out the window I guess lol

(Especially since I didn't change the chapter title. I really should think of chapter plots before I name them tbh—)

I think of Kei as 5'4 and since Selina's 5'7 (this is her official height) and wearing heels in this chapter, she definitely towers over Kei lol

Don't worry though, Selina will rescue her girl, for sure ;)
