Siren's pov
Weeks after our escape from the Ghost Zone. An older man saying he was from the school heard that aparently i was old enough to attend school, where, i wish i knew. But i simply say," i'm not as young as i look. I'm a mother of a 10 year old. Not adopted either."
"Then why is your daughter not in school?"
"She's homeschooled, she's been homeschooled most of her life"
"All the more reason for her to come to public school, let her socialize with the common youth."
I growl.
"She's safer here. We're new in the area."
" you should still enroll her in school."
I sigh, this dude is relentless. I turn and i shut the door hard, hoping he would get the hint. Midnight looks over." What was that momma?"
"A dumb school teacher-" the door opens and i growl.
"Who is now intruding in our home."
I grab my slingshot and i summon a rock in the shot slot as i draw it back.
"Leave mister. I don't care who you are, but entering my home without my invite is not something you do."
"You cannot hurt me, you'd only as bad as the other ghosts that frequently haunt the town."
I gasp as i look at the man, he thought i was one of the ghosts from the zone. It probably didn't help that midnight's skeletal hands were in full view. But he had a point.
I sigh, but i put down the slingshot.
"We're not ghosts. We're something else entirely. But we're the only 2 here of our kind."
The man smiles." If you want, i can have her in my class. It'll be harder curiculum for her, but i promise she'll be safe with me."
I look to midnight, she had quite an education already, from fighting to basic geometry.
"What do you think little Star?"
"I wanna try momma. Besides, staying hidden is not what i wanna do anymore."
I sigh, but i nod," ok mr-" "Lancer, call me Lancer."
I smile, letting my wings unfold and my scales on my cheeks and forehead show themselves.
"Ok mr Lancer, you have yourself a deal, but if i hear that she's hurt at all, you'll know i'll come for you."
He nods.

A few days pass from that encounter, and i had Midnight all ready for her day in public school. She smiles as she runs out, a satchel acting as her backpack, to not restrict her wings.
She wasn't as good as i was at hiding her strangeness.
As she walked out, i could only hope that she would be safe.

Midnight's pov
I fly through the sleepy little town, until i spot the boy who helped us over a month ago, walking with his friends. Maybe i could walk with him?
I glide down and land nearby.
"Hey there"
They turn around and the girl and boy next to him gasp in suprise. But the boy in the middle smiles.
"Hey there, Midnight right? What's up?" I smile and nod.
"Yeah, and i think i'm going to your school, Casper High right?"
His jaw dropped," your 10 right? Why are you going to Casper high?"
"Mr Lancer made a deal with momma. Said i'd be safest with him. Besides, normal education's a bit slow." He chuckles," well, i'm Danny, this is Sam and Tucker, how about you stick with us? Dash is a bit of a bully, but you'd definitly spook him."
I smile and nod," sure,lead the way, i don't know where the school is."
Danny nods and smiles as he turns and keeps walking, i turn my feathered wings into slimy tentacles, and i pull them tight to my back, knotting them for now.
We soon arrive at the pretty unimpressive school, but my nerves start to show as i feel my tentacles tighten against my back.
"You ok there Midnight?"
Tucker softly asks and i take a breath, and nods.
"Yeah- just nervous. Been homeschooled my whole life."
"Got it. Well you're with us, we may be the most picked on group in school, but nobody will hurt you with us."
I smile at tuckers sincere words, his emotions radiating from him in soft pulses. I nod and we head into the school. Almost immeadiatly after entering the halls, i see a group of football players walk up to us, and danny pulls me behind him.
"Dash, please. Can we not do this today? I'm helping a new student get to class."
The football player with bright blond hair stunk with anger and pain, and he locked eyes with me, and i tighten my hands against my shirt. My hands rattle slightly from my fear, but i take a breath and swallows down my fear, my eyes shimmering my cyan magic.
"Who's this pipsqeak?"
"My names Midnight, and i don't take kindly to bullies mister."
My voice strong and steady as i take off my backpack and i set it down, lowering into a stance as my eyes change from light green to cyan.
"What are you gonna do about it punk?"
I giggle
"I'm no punk. Thats too simple of a word. I'm a phoenix shapeshifter. Get it right bully."
He growls and attacks, a simple off put punch. I slip underneath, my tentacles wrap around his fist and stop him in his tracks.
"Ah ahhh, i don't want to get in trouble on my first day. Momma wouldn't want that so early."
I let go, folding my tentacles back into wings and i grab my bag. With that solved, i walk away, and danny,sam and tucker quickly catch up.
"Whoa midnight, that was some moves back there!" Danny yells, smiling and i smile back.
"Just simple tactics, if i hadn't of caught him, he would've gone into the wall."
"You gotta teach me how to move like that midnight!" Sam says and i chuckle.
"Momma could teach you more then me. But i'd be happy to have you guys come meet my momma."
Sam smiles," ok, how about after school today? Besides, we help out the local hero Phantom, but nobody knows about that."
"That sounds good, and i've met Phantom, seen his other side too. He helped momma and i out of his house when we finally escaped the Zone." Danny nods," yeah, they were both really bad off, her mom was covered in frost."
Sam gasps," well then. What sort of shifter is your mom?"
"Dragon, but she's way stronger then me in that, i got more of my dad's magic. He deals with emotions, dark emotions. I'm a bit of a middle ground."
Sam smiles. Her emotions were so bright, even if her physical outlook was so dark. We soon arrive at the class, and i sit down, realizing i was too short, so i fold my wings back into tentacles and they curl underneath me so that i can sit in the chair.
From there, the day passes as normal, and suprisingly some of the stuff is really easy. Until one point where skulker attacks the school and i dive into a janitor closet, hiding myself in my wings. Danny quickly traps him in his thermos and i come out.
We head out of the school and i guide the trio to my new home, although Danny flew off to go return Skulker to the zone, he wrote down the adress to remember it later.
I open the door,"Momma! I'm home with a couple of Phantom's friends!"
Mom walks out from around the corner, her wings out, as she's only slightly taller then me, her growth being stunted by immortality taking it's hold.
"Huh, well, introduce yourselves, I'm Siren. Midnight's mom, and before you ask, i'm 15 physically, but 27 mentally. Comes with my powers."
Sam smiles," no need to explain ma'am,i'm Sam, and this is Tucker. Midnight told me if i wanted to, i could learn to fight from you?"
She looks at sam suprised," really? What happened?"
I smile," a silly bully tried to punch me, he missed and i caught him, and it got all 3 of them suprised at my skills."
Mom chuckles," of course, a chip off of your father's block. Yeah, i'll train you both, if you got the will for it."
And with that, we relaxed, did homework, and other usual stuff.
