15 | Reflecting

I had never seen my reflection before.

Never saw my own features.

I remembered late at night when Harry was still up and we were both laying in bed side by side, I curiously asked him how I looked.

He didn't say anything for a moment.

"You have a big face." Was his nonchalant response and I could tell he was smirking in the dark as I displayed a straight face, staring up at the ceiling.

"Thanks." I blandly told him, assuming this was probably the end of our little convo as I closed my eyes.

It was silent for a few more seconds before I felt Harry shift slightly.

"You're beautiful." His gruff voice split through the silence, my eyes opening as I furrowed my brows in surprise, not daring to take my gaze off the ceiling to look at him.

"Are you sure you're not just complimenting yourself." I pointed out in a monotone voice, hearing him chuckle slightly before he muttered a "definitely not."

"Your face is really round, but you have like... this cute chin." He awkwardly explained, making me dart my gaze to him in the dark before I quickly closed my eyes, trying to imagine it.

"Okay."

"You're skin reminds me of the color of coffee, but when you put some milk in it. You have dimples just like me, they show when you smile which is one of the reasons I like making you smile- of course my dimples are better by the way." He added, making me smile in the night.

"Of course." I echoed.

He paused for a moment, thinking.

"I can't touch you but... you look soft. I don't know, that's the best way to explain it. You also have really long lashes, full eyebrows, and your nose is like a little chubby but it's cool cause it's cute."

I pictured the image in my mind of my appearance.

"So I look like a muppet." I broke the silence with my observation.

"Pretty much." Harry laughed in a joking manner, causing me to join in lightly.

I was the first to turn on my side to face him, catching Harry's eye before he did the same, smugly smiling at me while I rested my cheek over my hand and he placed his face over his tucked, tattooed arm.

"I can't touch you, but you look soft too." I told him truthfully, blinking as he made an amused face.

"But I'm always hard-"

"I meant if I touched your hair you idiot." I cut him off, making him grin.

He smiled as he looked at me, as if preparing to say something before he brought his hand up between us, palm up for mine while I hesitantly followed, raising my hand as well and letting our palms almost touch, only for my skin to fade and blur slightly from being so close to him like it always did.

"You know, I'm only portrayed as beautiful in your eyes because I was shaped after Habiba number one." I let him know, wanting him to understand as he looked me in the eye with a surprisingly serious expression.

"No." He said with a solid voice, making me give him a look before he dragged his gaze to our hands.

"I think you're beautiful because you're you." Harry calmly said, voice a low hush as I frowned slightly.

"Who am I though." I whispered to myself for only me to hear, sounding like I wanted to cry with how lost I secretly was.

I was Harry.

I was Habiba.

But I wasn't me.

My eyes were fixed on my fading palm that was against Harry's as we both stayed silent before he broke the silence, the next words that left his lips surprising me.

"You're the person I've always needed in my life."

Looking at my reflection now in the gold framed mirror Jackie had sent Harry and I, I could see all the details and descriptions Harry had told me before.

I touched my face in awe, the young, Muslim woman in the mirror doing the same, hazel eyes slightly wide and full lips parted before I quickly turned to Harry.

"Do you see this- Harry? Harry?" When I looked besides me Harry was gone, the sudden sound of someone banging on something and calling my name through a glass catching my attention before I glanced back at the mirror, surprised to see Harry looking back at me with a slightly panicked expression as he pressed his palms against the mirror.

"What are you- are you in the mirror?" I blinked in alarm, placing my hands over the glass as we gawked at one another, trying to get to each other as he shook his head.

"No, but you are." Harry said in worry and confusion, looking over the perimeter of the mirror as I stopped in surprise, looking through the mirror to find the dorm room and him all on the other side.

If that was the other side.... where was I?

It seemed as if everything was spinning around me while I looked around, my surroundings consisting of a small, completely white room with a bunch of different mirrors hanging from wall to wall, even on the ceiling as I glanced at all my reflections.

This was just, amazing.

"Don't move, I'll get you out." Harry's edged voice announced, bringing me back from my thoughts as I quickly turned back to the main mirror in alarm.

"No no! Put the lamp down!" I beckoned, bringing my hands up as Harry lowered the item with a heaving chest.

"Habiba I need to get you out of there." He said as if that idea hadn't even crossed my mind.

"Yes, yes don't worry. Just stay calm-"

"I am calm!" Harry yelled in alarm, dropping the lamp and bringing his hands to his hair, tugging on the roots as I blinked at him, never seeing him like this before.

"Just, just breathe." I calmly instructed in a mellow voice, my hazel eyes locked on his concerned green ones as he followed, the booth of us deeply inhaling and exhaling together.

"This doesn't seem too bad, really," I said in a soft breath, actually feeling a newfound excitement in me as I looked around the room I was in again, a long pastel pink colored mirror in the shape of a rectangle to the right of me.

"Well it's not like you're gonna stay in there forever. I swear to God I'm gonna find Jackie and make her bring you back." Harry promised, still looking nerved about this whole thing before I glanced back over the pastel mirror, almost feeling drawn to it as I took a step towards it.

Somewhere in the distance Harry was still talking, somewhat calmer but still freaking out as I looked through the pastel mirror, finding a dorm room on the other side that looked just like Harry's, aside from the fact that all the colors consisted of bright yellows, soft pinks, and faded baby blues.

Intrigued, I leaned forward with squinted eyes, as if that would help me get a closer look, the tip of my nose almost touching the mirror itself as I expected to squish my face against it, only to jerk forward in shock when I went right through, no barrier between me and the pastel room.

Stumbling over my feet I fell through the mirror into the new room, quickly catching myself before looking back finding the original, circular mirror as Harry gazed at me from the other side.

"Did you just go in another room?" He narrowed his curious green eyes with a 'what the fuck' expression, bringing his hand over his brows and pressing his face against the glass, squishing his nose making him have a pig nose against the mirror from the other side as he looked around.

"I was- I was in a room full of mirrors, and I don't know, one of them really caught my eye and I went through it and now, now I think I'm in a dorm..." I trailed off, my senses overwhelmed by the smell of floral scents and clean sheets, much different from Harry's room.

"Shit looks clean as hell, let me in there." Harry said, nosily peering through the mirror to look around as well, pressed up against the glass.

I actually smiled, looking at him before the door of the room suddenly opened, surprising the both of us as I scrambled in front of the mirror, blocking Harry from whoever walked in on instinct as a perky, dark skinned girl stood at the entrance, sending me a small grin.

"Habiba, we're going to have to hurry if you still want to make it to class." The girl addressed me, wearing a clean white blouse that matched her pearly, white teeth as I blinked at her, standing there like a complete fool.

"Me..." I trailed off, pointing at myself, completely stunned that someone was actually talking to me.

"Her?" Harry's muffled voice from behind through the mirror said before I banged the back of my fist against the glass, silently telling him to shut it as he muttered a passive "Jesus."

Me, not Harry.

"Of course silly, who else would I be talking to?" She tilted her head, raising a teasing brow as I stayed frozen and shocked.

I never had someone else other than Harry actually talk to me knowingly.

"Is this... is this the girl's dorm room?" I questioned in a cautious voice, attempting to sound casual as the ebony, curly haired girl laughed.

"Of course it is, you have been living here for about a good year now. By yourself may I add since your roommate is down three floors bunking with her girlfriend." She informed, crossing her arms over her chest as I blinked in response.

Right.

"Yeah, uh, I'll be there. I'll meet you out in the hallway." I told her with a shake smile.

"Alright. Don't take too long." She said with in a friendly manner, leaving and closing the door shut as I released a small breath, my tense body relaxing before I heard a tap from the other side of mirror.

"So there's more people stuck in there?" Harry questioned when I turned to look at him, my mind scattered everywhere be for the it finally dawned upon me.

Harry and I were separated.

I had my own body, my own identity (sort of).

"No, I don't think they're trapped..." I breathed out, a picture frame capturing my attention as I reached out and brought it to me, studying the unfamiliar picture of me and a bunch of other girl huddled together, posing and smiling in pristine, light pink clothes.

Strange.

"Alright, what's the plan." Harry's determine voice made me look up from the picture, causing me to lower it under his speculating gaze as he rubbed his palms together with excitement.

"The plan?" I dumbly repeated in confusion, too caught up with my own thoughts.

Harry gave me a wide eyed look.

"Yeah, you know the plan to get you out." He emphasized with scrunched brows, as if I was missing something before I blinked in realization.

"Oh right, yeah, well I was actually thinking-"

"Kidnap Jackie and force her to bring you back because same." Harry cut me off, his words rushed as I paused.

"No, no I was thinking about, I don't know, maybe doing some exploring around her, get more information from the inside." I slowly explained, nodding my head with enthusiasm as a hesitant expression crossed his features.

"But-"

"Don't worry I'll be back. Just, I'll be back." I promised, backing towards the exit with my hands out in front of me as Harry pressed his hands against the mirror, trying to meet my gaze with a confused one.

"I'm going to do a little investigating is all." I reassured him.

"Alright so what the hell am I supposed to do while you're gone, jack off?" Harry blinked, looking lost as I pointed at him with a stern expression.

"Go to class." I instructed, hearing him mumble a small "fuck that" before I smiled and waved, watching him hesitantly wave back less enthusiastically with a concerned look as I headed out of the room, making sure to close the door behind me before I saw the curly haired girl in front of me, leaning back against the wall waiting.

"Hello, are you ready?" She politely smiled, pushing herself off as I nodded, still finding it completely off putting that someone was talking directly to me and not Harry.

"Yeah, sorry for keeping you." I apologized, sending her an uneasy grin as I noticed all the girls passing by us in the hallway stare at my dark colored clothes, eyeing it with pure curiosity as they whispered to one another.

"Afternoon Michelle." One of the girls said, waving at the pretty Nigerian girl besides me, making me turn to find Michelle waving back before she glanced my way.

"Your clothes, they are very strange." Michelle pointed out with an innocently intrigued face as I looked down at my attire.

Maybe it was a dress code or something.

"Um, yeah. I guess, hey Michelle," I stopped in my tracks, looking around the creme colored walls and pastel pink dressed girls around us, making her stop in front of me.

"Where are we? Like, what city, or state." I clarified, apprehension overtaking my features as she smiled.

"Why, you're in Simpli-City of course."

It was night when I came back into the dorm, saying my goodbyes to Michelle and the other girls she introduced me to throughout the day, their waves and smiles mimicking mine.

"Night, it was really nice meeting you all." I truthfully said, peeking my head out from the door as I watched them leave before closing it, releasing a small breath after a long day of going to classes for myself, talking and speaking for myself, meeting people as myself.

I turned around, trying not to rub my eyes as I approached the mirror with a squinted gaze, hearing the soft snores of Harry across the glass, lying on the ground of his own dorm, sleeping.

A small smile formed over my face as I sat myself in front of the object, looking through to the man who I was always at his side till today, crossing my legs over the other, resting my elbow on my thigh and placing my chin in my palm.

Harry made a little snort in his sleep, brows furrowed and hair sprawled across the floor with his tattooed arms crossed over his chest, as if hugging himself for warmth.

"Did you really stay here waiting for me you idiot." I couldn't help but silently laugh at him with a look of endearment, watching him scrunch his face a bit, eyelids fluttering before he slowly blinked his eyes open, confused and disoriented for a moment before he became alert the moment he saw my smile.

"Habiba!- ah, uh." The excitement in his raspy voice was clear, emphasizing the way he shot up from the ground to get closer to the mirror before he stopped himself, clearing his throat and retracting back a bit.

"Where the hell have you been missy." He tried to play it off, making me roll my eyes with a smile as I scooted closer to the mirror.

"Harry, this place, I have so much to tell you. It's like parallel universe, like a dimension. I'm in a different dimension- I mean I wasn't told I was but I'm piecing everything together but gosh, it feels so good to be seen as me. To just think for myself and worry about myself, I made friends. People who want to be friends with me and this place is so nice and amazing-"

"What about coming back." Harry interjected, making me pause my quick, joyful, rambling to a stop as I looked at his grim expression.

"Oh, no. Right, I- well..."

"You don't want to leave, do you?" He finished my unspoken words for me, visibly stiffening as I awkwardly stretched my lips.

"It's only been a day, look, what you need to do is find Jackie and we'll see if we can get me out. Did you even go to your classes today?" I changed the subject, giving him a look as he blew a breath, tilting his head to one side as he rubbed his neck.

"Nah." He responded in a clipped tone.

"So what did you do all day?" I asked with a concerned frown as he scratched at his chin, for once looking almost embarrassed.

"Sat here in front of this stupid mirror and waited for you all day." Harry said, leaning back on his elbows as I fought back a small grin.

"I missed you too." I told him.

"Yeah, right, cause from the sound of things it seems like you just discovered your own little dream place." Harry scoffed, calling me out with a knowing smirk as I couldn't help but agree.

"Well, it's nice to be my own person for a change." I shrugged, looking down at my hands as I felt dark green eyes watching me across the mirror.

We both didn't say anything for a moment, a blanket of silence falling over us as we gazed at everything else around us besides the mirror.

"Alright, here's the plan, I'll try to see if I can find anyway back and you go find Jackie to help and explain about whatever parallel universe she has me in." I told him in a serious voice, watching him raise a brow at me.

"No." Harry suddenly rejected, causing me to straighten in surprise.

"No? What do you mean no."

"Look, you like it there right? You like playing friends and going out doing whatever you want to do." Harry checked, knowing the answer as I glanced down at my hands before bringing my wide, hazel eyes back up to him, subtly nodding my head in confirmation.

"Right, well what happens if you come back and you're back to being just a personality of mine." He tested, studying my reaction as I opened my mouth, closing it in thought as my brows knit forward.

"I don't care, I want to take care of you-"

"No, no you don't. You may want that but it's not what you need." Harry said, a look of understanding on his handsome face as I held my breath, never seeing this side of him.

"We're splitting up." He then grinned, a mischievous look in his emerald eyes as I made a snort of amusement.

"Are you now metaphorically splitting up with me?" I tried to hold back a smile.

"We already did it physically. Might as well." He casually shrugged.

"You were clingy as fuck anyways, always following me." He scrunched his nose at me in a playful manner as I pursed my lips, sending him a straight face causing him to let out a small, amused laugh at my reaction.

"We can always see each other through here too, you know, and we can check up everyday." I suddenly offered in an optimistic tone.

"Exactly. That's the mindset I was looking for. I'm a grown ass man, I can take care of myself."

I gave him a look.

"You still greet half the girls on your phone with nudes for nudes texts." I blankly pointed out.

"What? So I like to negotiate with my dick, sue me." Harry said, shaking his head as I broke into a smile, catching his eye and grinning in response, running his tongue over his bottom lip before biting it slightly as he watched me.

"Okay, just... remember to get to your class and bring some extra cash, don't even bother getting a snack cause you never even eat them since you always get a cafe date between classes somehow with some poor girl. Also very important, the whites go with the whites and the darks go with the darks- and just because a girl is flirting with you doesn't mean you can grope her ass. Oh and no killing-"

"Jesus, yes mom, yes, I get it." Harry rose from the ground slightly to grab a pillow from the bed, bringing it to the floor with him as he laid back down with a sigh, peering at me with an attentive expression.

"Now, let me make you swoon as I listen to you talk about your day." He rested his face against the cushion, patiently waiting for me with a smile of admiration as I shifted in my spot on the floor.

I opened my mouth to start, suddenly stopping as I looked at him.

"You know I never said this because I felt weird about it since we weren't separated, but now that we're two people here..." I trailed off, smiling in thought before silently gesturing him to come closer, as if about to tell him a secret making him smirk in amusement, pushing his hair back before sitting up and leaning closer to the mirror until his ear was pressed to the glass.

I moved closer as well, cupping the side of my mouth with the glass barrier between my lips and his ear.

"I love you." I whispered before planting my lips against the mirror, kissing the part of the glass where Harry's cheek was pressed against as he brought his head back, blinking at me with a please grin, biting his lip again.

"You really wanna get me pussy whipped don't you Hubba Bubba." He laughed, shaking his head at me as I settled back into my spot on the floor, the both of us smiling at one another through the mirror.

And for the first time in my life, it was my turn to talk about my day as Harry stayed quiet and happily listened.

AN: it's not enough for me to just be like aw goals when it comes to my characters.

I want you to feel an undeniable chemistry and bond between the characters I write, I don't want it to be just "goals" cause I have read fanfictions where I'm like aight yeah that's goals but I don't like feel the relationship that much, like, when you read my works, I want you to feel LIKE THERE IS NO ONE ELSE FOR THOSE CHARACTERS EXCEPT EACH OTHER AND THAT THEY NEED TO BE TOGETHER (like in my past stories Nat and Harry, Malu and Assassin, and Liza and Prince which were relationships that I was really happy how their chemistries turned out).

In the beginning Habiba and Harry were like eh okay, but I'm gonna get you really devoted and sucked into them like they were meant for each other man.
