{Your POV}

The sound of glass breaking snapped my dads and I out of our movie night. Shane quickly stood up and the dogs started barking and growling, running to the back door. I snuggle into my dad, my heart pounding. The dogs begin to whimper as we hear what sounds like kicks, Uno and No Name run back to the loving room whimpering hiding behind the couch. Shane grabs the coat hanger by the TV and quietly walks into the kitchen where there was sounds of someone rummaging through our things. It all happened so fast, Shane turned the corner and there was a bang. My dad grabbed his shoulder and cried out in pain falling on to the tile floor. I screamed and Ryland covered my mouth, the man came into the living room. Tall very muscular, I knew we may not make it out of this. I start crying the dogs whimpering behind the couch. He points his gun at us our eyes going wide, my half alive dad screaming at the man not to kill his family. BANG.

I shoot up in my bed in a cold sweat, I instantly start crying. The idea of losing my family was the scariest thing that could ever cross my mind. I get out of my bed, my feet touching the cold floors as I walk across the hall to my parents room. I turn the handle slowly and push open the door, tears still streaming down my face I walk in. Uno looking at me as I walk across the floor to Shane's side of the bed sniffling. I touch his arm shoving him slightly, the tears coming more and more by the second.

"Dad wake up." I whisper while shaking him lightly. He shifts, laying on his back he opens his eyes and looks at me confused. As soon as he saw my tears he sat up and woke up Ryland. Ryland sat up angry as why Shane would wake him at the hour, but when he looked at me crying and understood why, comming to Shane's side of the bed sitting like Shane and opened his arms for me. I gladly accept sitting on his lap crying into his neck as he rubs my back. Shane looked alarmed not knowing what to do but ended up rubbing my back.

"Whats the matter baby? Did you have a bad dream?" Ryland asked softly as I became calmer. I nodded and looked up at my dads.

"T-this man broke into our house." I let out a little cry  "and he hurt the dogs and then shot Daddy and was going to shoot us but then I woke up. I was scared you guys were gone." I say wiping the few tears that left my eyes. Shane's lower lip sticks out in a pout.

"Hey, we are here and we are all safe. Nothing will happen to us. I will protect us okay?" He says scooting closer to Ryland, wrapping his arm around his side. I sniffle and nod as Ryland smiles weakly stroking the side of my face.

"We have a security system, if some one broke in it would alert the police and they would be here in minutes okay? I promise we are safe." Ryland says as Shane nods in agreement. Almost completely calmed down I nod running my fingers though my hair.

"Can I sleep with you guys tonight." I say slightly embarrassed as I haven't slept with my dads since I was a small child. Shane giggles and nods, I smile greatfully and follow Ryland as he crawls back to his side of the bed, I lie in the middle and Shane smiles at his family laying back down. Ryland lays on his stomach looking at me and Shane lays on his side facing us. I lay on my stomach too my head facing Shane as Ryland rubs my back as he tries to get me back to sleep and Shane just smiles at us. I start to fall back asleep my eyes closing, right as I begin to doze off I hear Shane say that nothing will ever hurt his family causing me to peacefully sleep through the night.
