Vanishing
Shanaya was 12 year old girl now. Grown up, and matured early than she should be.
"Shaan...I want my pencil." Ahaan ran across the living room to Shanaya.
"Here you go Ahaan. Thanks." Shanaya gave him the pencil back. "And don't run in the house, you can collide with anything and hurt yourself." She pulled his cheeks and got a usual response with an addition.
"Aaaaannnn I am big now"
Both of them said together and giggled. Ahaan left the room and Shanaya sighed.
"Ugh...it's so tough to be good." She said looking towards her empty bed.
"It's tough to do good things" came the nonchalant reply.
"I wish I could see you. But you say I will die. Why so Shivu?" Shanaya stretched her arms in the air.
"I have a name."
"I know, Shiv, Shankar, Shambhu, Bholenath, Mahakal, Gaurang etc etc" Shanaya turned her chair back towards the table and started writing.
"Call me by that"
"Eh..I don't like...shivu is best..small and simple" Shanaya said.
"You are changing day by day"
Shanaya kept her pen down, sighed and turned back.
"Why do you just compliment and vanish?" She sighed and got back to her work.
"Shanaya...come"
Vijay's voice echoed and she came downstairs. He served the plates and Shanaya smiled and sat next to Ahaan, who had already messed up rice on the dining table.
"Let me help you to eat little boy" Shanaya giggled and fed him carefully so nothing could fall.
"Shan?" Ahaan said.
"Hmm?" Shanaya asked
"When will mowa come?" He asked with the spoonful of rice in his mouth. Shanaya became silent, and left a sad smile.
"Soon. But don't talk about it to Papa. Ok?" Shanaya asked him.
"Ok. But I mish mumma" Ahaan said.
"I miss her too, don't worry. She is happy where she is." Shanaya passed a smile to him taking his plate to the kitchen sink when she saw Vijay trying to lift up a sack of flour.
"Dad! I have told you not to pick weight na.." Shanaya rushed keeping the plate and pulled the sack into the the kitchen.
"Have your food Shan" Vijay said sternly. Shanaya glared at him, shrugged and open the sack and some of the flour flew out onto her face resulting in Shanaya to sneeze.
"Gone..I think I should. But you will eat with me Papa" Shanaya said.
"Ok I will. Come" Vijay said taking his and Shanaya's playes to the dining table. Ahaan was sitting on the dining table swinging his legs with his copy open and chewing the pencil.
"What happened?" Shanaya asked
"Howk" He said chewing the pencil.
"Don't chew the pencil Ahaan, and speak clearly" Vijay said taking his first morsel.
"I know, homework. I will help you. Why was the happy child happy.." Shanaya read the first question and laughed.
"The hippy chil was hippy becsh he gt chclte" Ahaan said stammering.
Vijay and Shanaya laughed on his cute reading and he too laughed joining them.
"The HAPPY child was HAPPY BECAUSE he got CHOCOLATES" Shanaya corrected him eating her lunch.
"Papa...have you taken your medicine?" Shanaya asked him.
"I have to keep your mother's heart good. Of course I have." Vijay said and smiled sadly.
Shanaya kept her hand on his shoulder, he held his hand and kissed her palm. Shanaya smiled and Ahaan was watching both of them do so.
"Papppa.. cheating. Mera bhi karo" Ahaan extended his hand and said.
"Ahaan, boys do so for girls. You do to Shan." Vijay said giving Shanaya's hand to Ahaan.
Ahaan held his hand and pulled himself to let his lips reach the hand, but he was unable to pull her. Shanaya chuckled and extended her hand and Ahaan pecked it softly.
*Time skip*
Shanaya was back to room and studies. She carefully cleaned her table and kept her books on it.
" Lunch done?"
"Vanishing"
"What?"
"Dear god, read my mind."
"Privacy dear"
Shanaya started laughing on the statement.
"You and privacy? Haha. Joke. Shivu why did this happen?" Shanaya suddenly became stern. She turned back to her empty bed, and chuckled.
"Papa's heart failure, so much crisis, and finally mumma gave her own heart to Papa? I think she knew, that, if papa would have gone, this cruel world would never let her live peacefully." Shanaya said.
"Why are you so big. Be cool and small"
"That wasn't the answer Shivu" Shanaya said.
"I don't..."
"Shan what is 10+10?" Ahaan entered the room pushing the door with his foot with a book and pencil in his hand.
"Oh...Ahaan..come I will help. And never forget to knock." She said taking the book, and explained him how to calculate it. Ahaan ran away saying a thanks to Shanaya.
"So why did that happen?" Shanaya turned to her bed.
"That's your play, you are vanishing" Shanaya chuckled and continued to study.
