Chapter Twenty Seven (Name REVEAL!!!)

Joey's POV

Susanna and I are having a double date at her apartment with my brother, Donald, and her best friend/roommate, Lynn. They have finally admitted they like each other. Susanna and I might have helped just a little.

We are eating pizza, my style (cheese less of course), and just hanging out when it sounds like someone is going to tear down the door. The pounding continues until Susanna opens it. I'm right behind her, ready for action.

"L.A.? Is everything okay?" Susanna's voice waivers.

L.A. has tears on her face. "Everything's better than okay." She wipes her eyes, and attacks Sus in a big hug. "I'm saved, Sus. I let Jesus in my heart!"

"Oh baby girl!" Sus whispers.

L.A. gushes, "I wanna tell you all about it. My whole story! My whole name too!

"Hey girls! I need in on this too." I grin, coming up beside two of my favorite girls.

"Joey Blue-eyes!" L.A. hugs me tight. "I'm like a sister to you now."

"You already were, shorty." I tug a lock of her hair. "Now it's just Jesus official."

L.A. shots me a grin, then dashes away to her room. She comes back with her guitar and takes a seat on the couch. "My Mom and Dad used to sing this to me, whenever I was worried or even as a lullaby. I remembered it today."

She strums the strings a few times, humming along, then she smiles and begins to sing. "Hush, baby girl. It will be alright. My sweet little lyric, the song of my heart. I love you. But if ever you stumble or feel lost inside, just look up to heaven, God will be your guide."

My face feels wet, I must have something in my eye. Yeah that's got to be it. I look at Susanna, who has one hand across her chest and the other over her wide open mouth. She's staring. Then what she said happened earlier hits me. She had been praying about God being L.A.'s guide. I grab my girlfriend's hand, and kiss it. She looks at me and just smiles beautifully. My heart might leap out right about now.

L.A. tells us her story, straight from when and how her parents met, to this very day. It's a pretty great story. She smiles. "I also feel like I owe you guys my whole name."

"So it's not really L.A.?" Donald and Lynn say in totally unplanned unison. Those two are made for each other.

L.A. shakes her head. "I'm Lyric Amelia Rose. Lyric because of how important music was to my parents and to me now. And Amelia, cause my Dad always said, "Lyric, I named you after Amelia Earnhart. She got lost, and never was found. But baby girl, if you ever feel lost Jesus can always come find you if you just call on his name."

We have a huge celebration for over half an hour, and then L.A. tucks a stand of hair behind her ears. "Would it be okay if I go tell my other friends?"

"Sure, girl. Let me drive you." I say and we make our way to my car. "Who first?"

She blushes bright pink. "Maybe James?"

A protective flash flies through me, but I decide to grin and bear it anywa. "Sure."

We are driving towards James family's house, when L.A. yells out, "Stop." She's staring out the window towards a fine house. Then slaps her forehead. "Duh, Lyric! That totally makes sense."

"Do what?" I say totally confused.

"Pull over. Kevin told me he liked a girl at our school. That they had been hanging out a lot, and he wanted to know how he should tell her. Why didn't I realize who it was."

We park and she leaps out of the car, racing to a blond girl and boy sitting on the house steps.

Lyric's POV

I raced up the walkway to the house. I don't know why I hadn't thought of this earlier. I come to a stop in front of the steps and they both look up at me with surprised looks. "L.A.?!?" They say in unison.

"I have some big news. Sounds like you guys have some too." I state. They both blush.

Khloe speaks first. "He was my math tutor."

I gasped. "Really?"

Before I can go on, Kevin smiles up at me. "But it was really Khloe that was doing the teaching. She showed me Jesus."

I can't help but grin, I am literally bouncing on my feet, I want to tell them so bad. I bite my lip, then blurt. "So it looks like you two like each other. You two together, and then me and James. James! You guys, hop in Joey's car. I want to tell the three of you together!"

My two friends glance at each other, then shrug. Following my lead. "Now we can go to James' house, Joey Blue-eyes."

Joey laughs. "What am I a taxi?"

"Just for now, Broseph. I promise." I say with a laugh, twitching in my seat. We head on down the road and James is out in his yard, taking photos of his dog, Polaroid.

I rolled the car window down. "James!!! I have news!!!!" I can't hold back this any more. I swing open the door and rush across the grass. "Jesus saved me, James. I'm a Christian!!!!"

"PRAISE GOD!!" James shouts at the top of his lungs. He picks me up and swings me around. He hugs me as he sets my feet back down on the ground.

"Did I hear right?" Khloe says from right behind us, tears of joy on her cheeks.

"You too?" Kevin says. They all gather around me for a group hug.

"That means we can finally...." James scratches the back of his head, his face beet red. "I mean... uhm..." He looks up and behind of me.

"You were saying, Jameson the whippersnapper?" Joey speaks up, arms crossed across his chest. "I'm her father figure so if you were going to say what I think you were going to say, we should talk."

I can hardly hold back my laughter as Joey escorts James across the lawn. They stand over there for what seems like forever and then finally come back. Joey looks at me, then James, and I think he's actually sort of intimidated. What on Earth did Joey say to him?!?

"We have forged a deal." Joey says in a stern voice.

"And that would be....?" I say rolling my hands, wondering what this deal was.

"You shall have a double ... outing together with Kevin and Khloe. I'm going to be watching all of you the whole time though."

"Yes sir, Mr. Stamper." I say, and mock salute.

.... later .... after Joey chaperones the rather awkward date .... err I mean "outing" ....

After the date as Joey wouldn't have me call it, I went and spent some time with James and his parents, while Joey ran my friends home. We had a lot of fun. Joey just dropped me off. Sending a quick text to Susanna, and then drove away to tell Alan, Caleb, and Chad my awesome news.

I stuck my head inside the door of the apartment. Lynn had collapsed on the love seat with her cool handmade Ariel inspired Afghan wrapped around her. Susanna was still awake, sitting on one end of the couch with her knees hugged to her chest. She looked like she was in really deep thought.

"I'm home." I whispered, so as not to wake Lynn.

Susanna looked up at me, a grin on her face. "Lyric! How was your date?"

I blushed, "It went good. I liked getting to hang out with James and his parents."

"That's great." She replied.

"You know I think of you like a big sister, right, Sus?" She nodded, a curious look in her eyes. "Well can I ask you a question?"

"Of course honey. Anything." She patted the empty spot on the couch beside her. "Sit. Let's talk."

"What about Lynn?" I asked quietly.

"She won't even know we are here." Susanna gave me a reassuring grin as she laughed, "We were watching Letters to Juliet at a sleepover once and when we got to the last Lorenzo she looked at me and said good night. I didnt even have time to argue that the movie wasn't finished yet, before she was totally out."

I laughed a little bit, I can just imagine the adventures those two have had together growing up. "My question is... well how do you know.... Well what God has in store for you? Like what He wants you to do with your life? And like the talents He has given you?"

"Wow." Susanna blinks. "That's a good one. You sure you don't want me to call Alan or one of the guys on this one?"

I shook my head positively, "I want to hear your answer."

"Well okay." Susanna closed her eyes, and I realized she was praying as I saw her lips moving. She opened her eyes again and looked at me closely. "I think it can vary from person to person. But one thing a lot of people have in common about a talent is this feeling that you're doing just what God made you to do."

I nod. That makes sense, I guess. "Is life as a Christian hard?" I want answers, and I truly trust Susanna.

"Honestly?" She asks, and I respond with a nod. I lean over against her shoulder, and she strokes my hair as she talks. "Sometimes its a struggle. The devil will try to tear you down and bring you away from God at times. He doesn't want God to win. The thing is, God never said this would be an easy road, baby girl. But He did say it would be worth it all and then some in the end. If we stay true to the path of righteousness, we are destined for a home in Heaven with Jesus and God...FOREVER."

I smiled and we talked like that for a few more hours, until we all drifted asleep in the living room.

As my eyes got heavier I thought of all that has happened in such a short amount of time. It's not even November yet and so much has happened. My life went from me living in a run down abandoned building to meeting some of the best people in the world. I love my new family and friends. God's got great things in store for us. I look forward to seeing what He has in mind.

Until the Next Time ... THE END!
