Chapter 4
(Black's Third Person POV)
Black churned her back legs as she tried to get underneath the clear stuff. She hauled herself up and jumped out, tripping and almost landing on her face. Shard put his tail on her back reassuringly and looked back up at Shade as she wriggled out from underneath the clear stuff. The black she cat jumped down and looked around. "So, do you guys want to come with me?" She asked. Black slowly nodded. "I don't want to go back to Hunter and Melody. I mean, I do like them, but they're really overprotective." She muttered, scratching at her bandana. "I'm coming with Black." Shard said instantly. Shade dipped her head, glancing between the younger cats, and trotted off. Black and Shard walked after her, trying to memorize how to get back around here. After a while of walking, Shade stopped and slipped into an alley way, with Black and Shard scrambling to catch up. "Scar!" Shade called. As the black she cat said that, a brown tabby Tom stalked out of the shadows. "Who are they?" He hissed, unsheathing his claws. Shade stood in front of the littermates, eyes narrowed. "They're friends of mine. I met up with them and Black was hurt and Shard didn't know what to do, so I decided they could come with us." She partly lied. Scar nodded slowly, his gaze sweeping across the littermates. "Fine, I guess." He muttered, walking away. Shade darted after him with Black and Shard. "So, where are we going?" Shard asked curiously, guiding Black away from a large rock with his tail. "Oh, uh, we're just trying to find a new home." Shade stuttered. Black narrowed her eye. "Are you lying?" She asked suspiciously. The black she cat sighed in defeat. "Truth is, we're trying to escape Mooneye and her group. They're trying to gather more cats. If cats don't want to join them, they kill them." Shade replied. "So, you guys said no?" Shard piped up. "Yes, we did. We worked with them for a while, then left the group." Scar snapped. Black flattened her ears. "Stop being so rude Scar." Shade growled quietly. Scar snorted and stomped ahead, leaving the three cats to follow in silence.
