(Black's third person view)
Black immediately got into a crouch when she spotted a mouse nibbling on seeds. She cautiously slid forward, careful on where she put her paws. She suddenly halted and took a mighty leap, landing above the mouse. Black scooped it up with her paw and gave the killing bite to the mouse's neck. She turned to look back at Hunter and Shard, eyes gleaming in excitement. Black and her brother Shard had been raised by the old cat after their mother abandoned them. Hunter and his mate Melody told them they were like their own kits and treated them like their own. Black and Shard would work hard everyday to support the little group. Hunter padded over to Black and nodded in approval. "Good job Black. That was a great catch, but you need to work on your stalking. Your tail kept touching the ground and rustling leaves, yet you didn't notice. The mouse noticed that too, and you caught it just in time." Hunter meowed with his deep voice. Black flattened her ears in disappointment. "Sorry Hunter." She meowed. Hunter licked to top of her head. "It's okay young 'un." He said. Shard bounded over, excitement clear in his gaze. "Great catch Black!" He exclaimed, tackling his littermate to the ground. They tussled and Hunter soon put a stop to it. "Let's bring the prey back to the cave, alright?" He grumbled, a hint of amusement in his voice. Shard picked up his sparrow and Black picked up her mouse. Hunter turned and trotted towards a tree, digging up his squirrel and robin. The three trotted back to their cave.

(Black's POV)
I set down my mouse on the little pile of prey and bounced over to Melody, who was laying in her moss nest. The yellow she cat looked up and purred. "Hello Black, Shard. How was hunting?" She meowed, watching as Shard and Hunter entered with their prey. I flopped down next to Melody. "Great! Hunter gave me some tips on how to stalk better, and I caught a mouse!" I squealed excitedly. I easily get excited, more than any other cat, is what Melody said to me once. "It was fine." Shard piped up. Melody purred happily. "Good, now go eat. We don't want you starving." She meowed. I got up, licked her cheek, and scrambled over to the fresh kill pile.

(Black's Third person POV)
Black crouched and watched as Shard stalked towards a squirrel. He waggled his haunches and leapt, sadly missing it by a fox length. The squirrel immediately dropped the nut it was holding and bolted up an oak tree. Black laughed slightly as Shard sat up, leaves covering his pelt. Shard's eyes suddenly widened and he looked behind Black. "Black, look out!" Shard yowled, lunging at the smaller littermate as a rouge leapt out of the bushes. Black recoiled as the rouge slashed at her face, eyes wild with... Hatred? Black felt overwhelming pain as the cat clawed at her left eye, leaving a small scratch. Shard gripped the Tom in his jaws and tried hauling the cat off of his sister. He tumbled backwards as the older rouge threw him off and sliced at Black's face again. This time, it felt like fire in her right eye. Black heard something hit the grass, and felt warm liquid running down from her right eye. The hands of darkness grabbed Black and she fell unconscious.
