6: Obsession Begins
The atmosphere in Jungkook’s penthouse had shifted since the night of the rescue. What had once been a place of comfort and solitude for him now buzzed with an unspoken tension, a current of energy that only intensified every time he laid eyes on Y/N. She was more than just a woman who had entered his life by chance. She was now the center of his world, the object of a desire so consuming it threatened to unravel him.
Jungkook sat in his study, his fingers tapping rhythmically against the polished wood of his desk as he stared at the surveillance footage on his screen. Multiple angles of Y/N walking around the penthouse, captured by cameras he had installed for her "protection." Or so he told himself. In reality, he couldn’t bear the thought of her being out of his sight. The more time passed, the more she consumed his thoughts. Every glance, every word she spoke, only deepened his fixation.
It wasn’t just about keeping her safe from Luciano anymore. It was something far more primal. The need to possess her, to have her entirely for himself, gnawed at his insides. He had tried to fight it, telling himself it was too soon, too dangerous, but the pull was undeniable. He wanted her. Not just her presence, but her heart, her mind, her soul. Everything.
Y/N, unaware of the depths of Jungkook’s growing obsession, wandered through the penthouse, feeling more like a prisoner with each passing day. It wasn’t the luxury or the opulence that unsettled her, but the sense of being watched. Every time she turned a corner, she could feel his eyes on her. Even when he wasn’t in the room, the weight of his presence was suffocating.
She had tried to make sense of it—his protectiveness, his possessiveness—but the intensity of it all was overwhelming. Jungkook had saved her, brought her into his world, but it was a world full of shadows. Dark, dangerous, and unfamiliar. And Jungkook… he was the darkest shadow of all.
Y/N entered the living room, where she found Jungkook leaning against the glass wall, his back to her as he stared out over the city. The skyline glittered in the distance, but even the beauty of the night couldn’t distract him from the storm brewing inside his chest. He heard her footsteps, soft but sure, and it took every ounce of self-control to keep his composure. The closer she got, the harder it became to restrain himself.
“Jungkook?” Y/N’s voice was soft but carried a hint of concern. “Are you okay?”
He turned slowly, his gaze locking onto hers. For a moment, neither of them spoke. The air between them thickened, charged with an unspoken tension. Y/N could feel it—the way his eyes roamed over her, dark and intense, like he was fighting something within himself. It made her uneasy, but at the same time, it stirred something inside her that she didn’t quite understand.
“I’m fine,” he finally replied, though his voice was rough, betraying the storm raging beneath the surface.
Y/N moved closer, her instincts telling her to bridge the gap, to reach out to him. “You’ve been distant,” she said cautiously. “Is something going on?”
Jungkook’s jaw clenched. The last thing he wanted was to lie to her, but the truth was far too dangerous to reveal. How could he tell her that every waking moment, every second she was near him, his mind was consumed by thoughts of her? That his desire for her had become an obsession so deep, he couldn’t think straight?
Instead, he took a step forward, closing the distance between them. His hand reached out, gently cupping her chin as he tilted her face up to meet his gaze. The touch was soft, but there was a dangerous intensity behind it. Y/N’s breath hitched, her body reacting to the sudden closeness. She could see the conflict in his eyes, the battle between restraint and something far darker.
“You’re not safe, Y/N,” Jungkook murmured, his voice low and almost possessive. “Not from me… not from anyone.”
Her heart skipped a beat at the raw honesty in his words. She tried to pull back, but his grip on her chin tightened, keeping her in place. His eyes bore into hers, and for the first time, she saw the depth of his obsession—how far he had fallen into the shadows of his own desire.
“Jungkook, I—” Y/N began, but her words were cut off as he moved even closer, their bodies just inches apart. His breath was warm against her skin, and the tension between them was electric, crackling in the air.
“I won’t let anyone take you from me,” Jungkook whispered, his voice both a promise and a threat. “Not Luciano. Not anyone.”
Y/N’s pulse quickened, a mixture of fear and something else—something more dangerous—thrumming through her veins. She had always known Jungkook was intense, but this… this was something different. His possessiveness, his need to control her every move, was suffocating. Yet, at the same time, there was a part of her that was drawn to it, that craved the intensity of his attention.
She placed her hand on his chest, feeling the rapid beat of his heart beneath her palm. “Jungkook… you can’t control everything,” she whispered, trying to reason with him, though her voice trembled.
His hand moved from her chin to the back of her neck, pulling her even closer until their foreheads touched. “Watch me,” he said, his voice low and dangerous. “You’re mine, Y/N. Whether you realize it or not.”
Y/N’s breath caught in her throat. The weight of his words settled over her like a heavy blanket, stifling and yet somehow comforting in its intensity. She should have been afraid—should have run from him—but instead, she found herself frozen, unable to tear herself away from the force of his obsession.
Jungkook’s lips brushed against her ear, sending a shiver down her spine. “I’ll protect you from everything, even yourself if I have to.”
With those words, he stepped back, leaving her standing there, her mind swirling with confusion and fear. As he turned and walked away, Y/N realized just how deep she had fallen into his world. The shadows of his desire had already begun to consume her, and she wasn’t sure if she could ever escape.
But one thing was clear: Jungkook’s obsession had only just begun.
