1.A Glimpse of Danger
The night sky hung low over the city, thick with the weight of a looming storm. Y/N pulled her jacket tighter around herself as she hurried down the quiet street. It was supposed to be a simple evening—just a late run to the corner store to grab a snack before heading home. But the unsettling feeling creeping up her spine told her something was wrong. The once-familiar street seemed different tonight, as if the shadows were watching her, moving closer with every step.
Y/N quickened her pace, her footsteps echoing eerily in the silence. She glanced around, her eyes darting to every dark corner, every alley, and every flickering streetlight. Her heartbeat thudded in her ears, but she kept walking, trying to shake off the strange sense of dread settling in her chest.
As she neared a narrow alley, the sound of muffled voices caught her attention. She paused, her curiosity getting the better of her. The voices were low, angry, and there was a sharp edge to them that made her stomach twist. She knew she shouldn’t look, shouldn’t get involved, but something—some inexplicable force—compelled her to take a peek.
Cautiously, Y/N stepped closer to the edge of the alley, her breath catching in her throat. She pressed her back against the cold brick wall and peered around the corner.
What she saw made her blood run cold.
In the middle of the alley, three men stood in a tense circle. One of them—tall and imposing, with dark hair that glistened under the dim streetlight—was facing the other two with a look that could only be described as deadly. His expression was hard, unreadable, but his presence commanded the space, radiating power and danger in equal measure.
It was Jungkook.
Y/N didn’t know his name yet, but she recognized the look in his eyes. He was no ordinary man. There was something dangerous about him—something lethal. The way he stood, calm and controlled, as if the world bent to his will. The two men facing him were clearly nervous, shifting from foot to foot, their hands twitching at their sides as if preparing for a fight.
“You’ve made a mistake,” Jungkook’s voice cut through the night air, low and menacing. “And I don’t forgive mistakes.”
One of the men, visibly sweating now, took a shaky step back. “It wasn’t us… it wasn’t our call. Please… just give us a chance to fix this—”
“You don’t get second chances in my world,” Jungkook interrupted, his voice colder than ice.
Y/N’s heart pounded in her chest as she watched, her body frozen in place. She knew she should run, leave before she got caught in whatever dangerous business this was. But she couldn’t tear her eyes away from Jungkook. There was something magnetic about him, something that made her want to understand who he was and why he seemed so deadly calm in this tense situation.
Suddenly, one of the men made a move. Y/N barely saw it, but in an instant, there was a flash of silver—a knife. The man lunged toward Jungkook with a desperate, wild swing.
It happened so fast that Y/N almost missed it.
Jungkook sidestepped effortlessly, his expression never changing. In one smooth motion, he grabbed the man’s arm, twisted it with brutal efficiency, and the knife clattered to the ground. Before the man could react, Jungkook shoved him against the wall, his forearm pressing hard against the man’s throat.
“Wrong move,” Jungkook whispered, his voice a low growl.
The other man, paralyzed with fear, didn’t dare intervene. Jungkook’s grip tightened, and for a moment, it looked like he might end the man’s life right there. Y/N’s breath hitched, panic rising in her throat as she watched the life-threatening scene unfold before her.
Suddenly, Jungkook’s gaze shifted.
His dark eyes flickered toward the edge of the alley—toward Y/N.
Time seemed to slow.
Her heart stopped, her lungs refused to take in air, and for a second, she thought she had been invisible. But Jungkook had seen her. His gaze locked on hers with an intensity that stole the breath from her lungs. It was like being caught in a predator’s gaze—dangerous, powerful, and impossible to escape.
For a brief moment, their eyes held, and Y/N felt a strange jolt in her chest. She was terrified—every instinct screamed at her to run, to get away from this man who exuded danger like a second skin. But there was something else too—something she couldn’t quite name. A pull. A fascination.
Jungkook’s lips curled into the faintest smirk, his eyes dark and unreadable. He slowly let go of the man he had pinned, stepping back as if nothing had happened. The two men, sensing an opportunity, scrambled to their feet and ran, disappearing into the night without looking back.
But Jungkook didn’t move. He stood there, watching Y/N with that same intense gaze, his body still as a predator stalking its prey.
Y/N’s heart pounded wildly, her breath shallow. She didn’t know what to do. Should she run? Apologize for being there? Scream for help? But something told her that no one could help her now—not with him standing there, looking at her as if he already owned her.
“Curiosity,” Jungkook finally spoke, his voice smooth yet dangerous, “can get you into trouble.”
Y/N swallowed hard, her legs trembling beneath her. “I—I didn’t mean to… I didn’t know—”
“I know.” He took a step closer, and Y/N’s breath caught. He was even more intimidating up close, his presence overwhelming, suffocating.
For a long moment, Jungkook simply looked at her, as if deciding something in his mind. His eyes roamed over her face, taking in every detail, and Y/N felt exposed, vulnerable, as if he could see every thought running through her head.
“Go home,” Jungkook said, his voice soft but commanding. “This isn’t a world for someone like you.”
Y/N blinked, momentarily stunned by the strange mix of warning and concern in his tone. But before she could say anything, Jungkook turned on his heel and disappeared into the shadows, leaving Y/N standing alone in the alley, her mind reeling from what had just happened.
Her legs finally gave way, and she sank to the ground, her hands trembling. She should be terrified. She was terrified. But underneath the fear, something else stirred—a deep, unsettling curiosity about the man she had just encountered.
Who was he? And why, despite the danger, did she feel like she had just seen a glimpse of something—someone—she wasn’t meant to see?
As the wind picked up and the storm began to break over the city, Y/N slowly stood, her heart still pounding in her chest. She took a deep breath, forcing her legs to move, and hurried home, trying to shake the feeling that she had just stepped into a world far more dangerous than she could ever imagine.
But no matter how hard she tried, Jungkook’s piercing gaze stayed with her, haunting her thoughts.
And something told her this wouldn’t be the last time their paths crossed.
