Blaze threw put his car keys on a hook by the elevator that opened into the living room of his penthouse. His jacket fell to the floor, him not bothering to pick it up. He walked slowly into the living room seeing the vast expanse of the city of Scaleswind through his window that spread across the wall. It was beautiful November morning but, all the young man could think about is that Garroth wasn't there to see it. He sat lazily on his modern-white-curved couch that was in the room. A round coffee table with a red orchid plant in the middle was where he decided to place his feet on.
A fire place was in front of him with a TV over it. Clear fake crystals replaced the wood though, making it match the atheistic of the room. Blaze looked behind him to see his kitchen. He now relied on food to keep him distracted. He got up to his large stainless steel fridge to grab grape jelly, then he went to his white cabinets to get some bread and peanut butter. He turned to make his sandwich on the island that was in the middle with grey counter tops that matched the rest of the kitchen.
Once the sandwich was made, he put away the ingredients and took his sandwich back to the living room. He switched the TV on and he was immediately hit with the story from last night's fundraiser. A picture of him carrying what the news was calling; "The masked attacker" was right there for the world to see. Blaze cringed as he rushed to turn it off.
"I guess I'll eat in silence then...", He mumbled to himself.
As much as he thought his home was nice, he felt like he didn't deserve it. The government paid for him to stay there for the compensation of him working for the S.T.F. Blaze didn't understand though why they chose this place. A five bedroom, seven bath penthouse wasn't his thing. Especially for just one person.
Sometimes, he finds himself talking to himself and as the silence lingered over to him, he did it again.
"I swear P...the moment you're okay, I'm showing you the whole city just from these windows. I promise you..."

"Why the hell did she do that?", Dante exclaimed as the group back at the S.T.F gathered in the lab. "Blaze could've done some research with me."
"He also could've done some test for us,", Katelyn added, putting down her tools.
"She's doing it for our safety,", Aphmau insisted. "If Blaze is here, it could compromise this situation. It's obvious Shadow wants him. When Laurance was down there, he didn't look at him."
"But, what if Garroth's safety relies on him?", Travis asked. "Maybe Blaze is the answer to this problem. Maybe he could break through to him."
"He has a point love,", Laurance said, trying to gently break it to Aphmau who had hope in her boss but, she secretly knew it too. "Blaze may be the target but, he could help in breaking Shadow's control. At least for a minute."
"I-I know...I just wish there was a way we could weaken Shadow's strength so Blaze could at least talk to him,", Aphmau exasperated, taking her husband's hand.
A lightbulb went off in Dante's head. He turned to Aphmau and asked; "The cell that's holding Garroth right now is surrounded by a wall of magic resistance right?"
"Y-Yes but, it only keeps it inside. He could do whatever he pleases to if he remains inside. Those walls just makes sure it doesn't escape,", Aphmau explained, remembering the mechanics that were explained to her. "If he steps out he could be a danger."
"Do you think there's a way we could use that same technology in something smaller?", Dante asked.
"What are you saying?", Laurance curiously asked, getting excited.
"I'm saying, what if we transferred that same stuff to maybe cuffs? That way, he can step out of the cell and still be restrained from using magic."
"If that were to work, I could perform more test on him while he's conscious,", Katelyn said, grabbing her pad to write to down the possibilities. She looked over to her boyfriend and asked; "Do you think it could work?"
Travis thought about it for a moment, gears turning in his head. "M-Maybe...I need to run some analyses on the tech and see if it could be supported by a smaller device."
"This is great!", Aphmau clapped. "Let me go tell Elizabeth!"
She ran off, Laurance smiling at his friends before following her, equally hopeful.
"How are we to go about this?", Katelyn asked.
"Dante, I need you to see if there's any files of them testing this tech. See if anyone had any similar ideas,", Travis said, looking to the blunette who went over to the computer, opening up the files. "Katelyn, come with me to take a closer look at those barriers."
With that, the couple went off to the basement to where the cells were.
•••
"Well?", Katelyn pushed a bit, after Travis had been quite a while. He was trying away on one of the empty cells. There was a keypad that activated and deactivated the shields and he was looking over all the settings.
"I think this might work...from what I can tell, the power level stays consistently at forty volts. If I were to decrease that or make a device that can manage that and not hurt Garroth, I'm about ninety-five percent sure it'll work."
Katelyn became more and more confident in Dante's idea, growing a little impatient and dying to get back up to the lab to come up with a prototype.
It wasn't long though when the two heard the squeaking of shoes come running down the hallway.
"Guys! This is perfect!", Dante shouted, coming up to them with a file in hand. "These shields were designed after testing Blaze's powers in a lab so, that means that if we were to exactly measure how much strength Shadow carriers, we could create a device that could perfectly match him."
"That's great Dante! Thank you for finding this!", Katelyn said, looking through the file. "Travis, is there any way we could analyze the power in Garroth's cell?"
"It seems we can with some upgrades to the system. I'm going to consult the team on this and we'll get right on it,", Travis said, now rushing back up to the lab to explain his idea to the S.T.F researchers.
"You really think this will work?", Dante asked Katelyn once they were alone.
"It has to...besides, it's the probably the smartest thing you've said in the last decade so let's at least give it a try,", The woman teased.
Dante playfully pushed her before the two walked back to the lab.
