Chapter One (Creamkit)
She felt so hot, burning even. Dizziness was overwhelming her. Voices were buzzing everywhere, and a strong scent entered Creamkit's nose. She could feel someone carrying her, but she didn't know who. Creamkit squirmed around trying to break free, but the other cat's grip was too strong. Much to her relief, she was finally placed down on a soft mossy bed. The strange scent became even stronger.
"Will she be okay? I can't bear to lose another kit so soon!" mewed a familiar voice.
A soft, gentle voice replied, "She'll be fine, Honeyshade. Just a little fever. It's very common during the end of Leaf-bare."
The familiar voice spoke again, "That's good to hear. I can't wait for her to open her eyes so she can play with her littermates."
Creamkit could feel something being pushed down her throat. It didn't taste as good as her mother's milk, but it wasn't so bad. She gulped down the leafy substance as the awful taste hit her. It was so bitter.
Where am I? Creamkit could hear other voices, but couldn't recognize any of them. She felt as defenseless as a mouse in a badger's den. She scrunched up her face, as she heard a yowl in the distance. More voices rose and excitement was in the air. Creamkit wanted to know what was happening, and she couldn't do that with her eyes closed. Many cats were wondering when the tiny she-cat would open her eyes. Shadekit and Salmonkit opened theirs' a quarter moon ago. She forced her eyelids open as bright fuzzy light entered her sight.
Creamkit let out a tiny squeak to get the attention of the cat that was sorting something next to her. The unfamiliar cat turned her head, with a surprised expression.
"You finally opened your eyes!" mewed the grey she-cat.
Creamkit looked around. The world seemed so different with her eyes open. She tried to respond to the other cat, but all that came out was a squeak followed by a cough. Creamkit tried to get up but was pushed down by a gentle paw.
"Rest now, we don't want that fever getting worse." chirped the cat, resting her tail on Creamkit's flank. "Now, you should get back to sleep. You'll feel better in the morning!"
The little kit remembered how her mother's frantic footsteps had woken her up. She rested her head on her paws and closed her eyes. She still felt hot, but the dizziness had gone away. Creamkit didn't know who this cat was, but she seemed very nice. The tan kit let sleep carry her away.

"Wake up! Wake up!!" whispered a tiny voice.
Another voice replied, "Come on, Shadekit! We shouldn't be here. We'll get in trouble!!"
"Oh, quit whining, you scaredy-mouse!!" mewed the tiny voice again.
Creamkit wrinkled her nose, at the sharp smell. She lifted one of her eyelids and gazed at the two kits. She guessed that the light grey one with tan stripes was Shadekit and the russet tom was Salmonkit. Creamkit let out a stifled yawn and closed her eyes again. Why couldn't they just leave her alone. She didn't get to sleep in the morning and she can't sleep now.
Shadekit seemed to notice the yawn and mewed accordingly, "Creamkit's awake!! Yay!! Come on Creamkit, lets go play."
"I still don't think we should be here, Shadekit. What if we get into trouble?" said Salmonkit nervously.
Creamkit peered at her littermates unaware about what to say. All she wanted to do was get some sleep. All the drama had made her tired and she didn't get rest in the morning either. She closed her eyes again, pretending to ignore them. Shadekit seemed annoyed, while Salmonkit was to nervous to notice. Maybe they'll go away now?
Shadekit poked her with a twig and squeaked, "Are you awake or not?"
"What do you think you're doing?" questioned the kind cat from before. "Creamkit has a fever and she needs to rest. She doesn't need her littermates poking around." mewed the cat again, pointing towards the stick.
Salmonkit gave Shadekit a hard stare hinting that he was right, and that they shouldn't have been here.
Shadekit gazed at the kind cat and mewed solemnly, "We're sorry Comfreyheart. We just wanted to play with Creamkit."
So that's who she is, Comfreyheart. Creamkit opened her eyes again and studied the three cats. She twitched her ears and lifted her head. She tried to get up but stumbled down again. Shadekit stifled a laugh and twitched her whiskers. Creamkit stared at her and grumbled, "I bet you fell down more than me."
Comfreyheart purred in amusement, " I see your littermates woke you up, Creamkit. How do you feel?"
"I...I..I'm okay. Just a little dizzy." squeaked the tan kit.
"Your dizziness should have gone away after a good sleep, but it seems like you won't be having any of that any time soon." growled Comfreyheart, eyeing Shadekit and Salmonkit. "Shadekit, Salmonkit, you must go play in the nursery. I know that your bored, but your sister needs to rest. The more you disturb her, the more time she will spend in this den."
Salmonkit lowered his head apologetically and Shadekit just looked annoyed. They both padded out, leaving the den in silence. Comfreyheart started sorting some leafy things again, leaving Creamkit very bored. The tiny kit didn't feel like sleeping anymore, her littermates just left, and Comfreyheart was sorting something.
"Comfreyheart?"
"Yes dear?"
Creamkit took a deep breath and asked, "Who are you? What I mean is what do you do, and why did you help me?"
Comfreyheart chuckled and replied, "Well, for starters, I'm Comfreyheart, as you know. I'm the medicine cat of Streamclan, and my job is to heal others with herbs. I also communicate with Moonclan every half-moon."
Creamkit nodded her head and asked again, "What's Streamclan, and what's Moonclan?"
"The answers will come in time, my dear. For now, I suggest you rest."
The tan kit settled down, resting her paws and eyes. She didn't feel like sleeping, but didn't want to disturb Comfreyheart any more. Being a medicine cat sounded like a busy job.
