Chapter Fourteen (Unknown)
"You wanna go on a hunting patrol?" asked the head of the patrol. Should I? But what if I say too much. Or I act suspicious. What if she hurts them, my precious ones. Her life-changing conversation flashed through her mind. She zoned out from the other warrior's question as painful memories entered.
I thought you loved me!
She did love her! But they made her scared. They made her weak. They made her doubt.
Will it be him or them?
You will say no word of this!
She zapped back to reality, and stumbled to the ground. The patrol looked at her, concerned. The leader of the group questioned, with a worried expression on their face, "You okay? I can call the medicine cat if you'd like?" They lent out a paw so she could get up.
She grabbed the paw and struggled to get back to her feet, and shook a simple 'no' signaling not to call the healer. "I'm just gonna-- take a walk..." she stuttered.
She stumbled through the territory, panting. Memories rushed through her head like a lightning bolt. It was too much. All of it was too much! But what could she do!? She was trapped, like a mouse in a wolf den. There was no way out. No one she could tell, no one she could trust. But she had to protect them. She had to! She had been protecting so well so far, why did she have to break now!
Darkness.
Blur.
Light.
Everything hurt. Her legs. Her head. Her eyes. Her mind. Everything was crushing her. She struggled to see where she was, pain was searing through her, torturing her thoughts. Her eyes shut again, she flashed back into memories. This time, less agonizing ones.
You can't catch me!
Boop! Got you!
She winced at her words. How could such a sweet voice be so deceiving. But, it's not her fault, it's mine.
I wish we could be like this forever.
Look at the beautiful colors...
Here's a squirrel, your favorite!
No! Stop it! STOP!! I can't take it! Stop! She was broken inside. A million pieces. With nowhere to go. The tensions. The pressure. The panic. It was crushing. She gasped again before she was taken away to another flashback.
He led his nine lives peacefully.
He's in Moonclan, I'm so sorry.
The feline gulped another breath. She felt like she was falling, into a bottomless void. But it was somehow more comforting than waking up. Pain rushed through her again, it felt like someone was pawing at her viciously. She was forced to open her eyes as she gasped and panted. What was happening to her?
The blurry figure soon became more clear, and she realized she was in the medicine cat's den. The healer was leaning over her muttering inaudible sentences. Once the other cat realized she was awake, the healer began reassuring. "It's okay. You're alright. Now, calm down. And eat these herbs for me, alright?" The restless she-cat tried to protest, but no words left her jaws. All she could do was agree. After gulping up the herbs, which seemed bland in her aching mouth, she felt calmer. Well, calmer than before. After seeing the feline relax, the medicine cat quietly asked, "Are you okay? You wanna talk about it?"
No! The question automatically set her mind back. What if they hurt them? What they know...
"NO!" shrieked the panicked patient. "No!"
"Okay..." sagged the healer, clearly not knowing what to do next. "Well... why don't you eat these poppy seeds while I tend to some... work."
The she-cat lapped up the black seeds, as the healer exited the den, leaving her alone. The effects of the herb started to kick in as she began to feel a little drowsy. She hesitantly let the dreamworld take her. Hoping there would be no nightmares waiting for her. Instead there were just more painful memories from the cat that changed her, both for good and bad.
You betrayed my trust!
Can't wait for our next hangout!
Her mind zoned back to reality as she heard some subtle whispers in the den.
'She... murmuring things... love, betrayal, and hope... she doesn't... talk... it... becomes very protective... when asked.'
'Interesting... think it... stress... I don't know... just... guesses... eye on her... become breakdowns... Me if... worse..."
What are they talking about? What is happening to me! There can't be anything wrong! I have to protect them, I have to!!
She tried to get up, but felt very light-headed and stumbled back down. The two cat turned her direction in alarm, the medicine cat rushed the other feline out of the den and mewed a quick 'bye' before diverting their attention to her. "You're okay. Everything is fine."
If only you knew...
On a more happier not, I hope you liked this chapter! It is one of my personal favorites so far. The pov is not shown to be more mysterious. But who do you think it is? There are some clues ;) The cat can be from any clan. Make sure to vote and comment!!
