Satoshi's end

Celeste's smile instantly faded as she stepped into the last door.

Her face heated up as she was surrounded by crackling flames. She looked around , looking for somrone, anything. Her attention was drawn to one house in particular . She heard shouting from within it, muffled, despret cries.  Suddenly an older boy fell out of the wall of flames. He toppled to the ground and looked to the house. He went limp when it collapsed.

Celeste was sure if the boy was crying, his tears would have evaporated. The heat was unbearable. The boy suddenly darted into the abandoned street. He looked utterly lost as he looked at the horrible scene.  He started running towards the space that consumed by relentless flames.

His blood curtailing screaming rang in her ears as she watched, frozen in shock. A man gripped him by the throat, holding him against his will and letting the fire below burn his legs. Was this really... was this really Satoshi's memory?

Celeste suddenly felt a change in vision. Now she looked at the world as the boy himself. She felt a pain in her heart when she heard what he screamed at the man before him.  "Traitor, you're a bloody traitor! Burn in hell! Y-you loved us and this is what you do?!". Whoever the man was that held the boy above these flames, was nothing but a liar and a traitor.

Celeste understood quickly. Satoshi was the only one who hadn't talked about a home. This was his home. And that means... the man suddenly dropped the boy, who collapsed just next to the fire. The man quickly ran away from the scene as A woman chased him. She looked to the frail boy for only a moment. "Run!" She ordered before sprinting after the man. The boy quickly got up, but stumbled and toppled over consistantly as he ran. His legs had several burns, yet he still ran. His heart pounded and his feet ached and stung, but he kept running. He needed to escape. He needed to run from one of the few people he ever trusted.

He panted, making to the outside of the small town, before collapsing in the wilderness. He watched the scene from the distance. Celeste moved perspective out of the boy and looked to him. He had wolf ears perched on his head. The fur on his tail had also been set alight. He glared as tears ran down his face. "Burn in hell. I thought you loved me!" he cried out passionately. His fingers dug into the earth beneath him as his choke sobs feel on deaf ears.

The image changed, fizzling out and back in. This was an older version of the boy, now a spitting image of Satoshi. He scowl and all. Celeste followed him into the gates of a city curiously. He huffed, grumbling about the amount of people there as he pulled up his hood, hiding his wolf ears. He went up to a board, looking at the sheets of paper posted on it.

A woman and a man came up to him, leaning on either side of him. "Hello sweet thing. How ab-" "put the coins back. If you want money , you'd be better to beg." The two looked at him in shock. Satoshi took two coin purses from them. "Neither of you are good enough to pass as prostitutes, trust me, begging is not that bad. You can get good at pickpocketing after a while" he smirked, waving the two off.

Satoshi continued walking, stopping at a pub. This one was quieter than the others, yet something more seemed out of place. Satoshi went into the kitchen. He pulled on an apron and started to cook, like this was his usual rutine. Another came in, a busty woman with spiky brown hair. She greeted the emotionless Satoshi happily.

"Finally decided to show up eh?" She teased. "I'm here everyday. You're the one that barely shows up". She shrugged "fair enough. But I still say you should go to the castle. Your cooking is too good for this hell hole". Satoshi sighed in response "I make food for people to share, not for one person to enjoy themselves ". "Hey, the queen has parties" the woman joked, laughing. Satoshi just blankly stared at the food. "Besides, the queen is a power driven bitch. She doesn't deserve her place. I'd never work for her" . The woman chuckled "just wait, when she offers I bet you'll take it like a dog steals food in the market " "I dobt that".

Celeste felt a little relived that she wasn't the only one that Satoshi was completely blank with. It seemed to be a trait of his. Celeste thought it might have been because of that day.

The scene changed once again. She was once again in the living room of Yoshiki's house. The two sat in the chairs. It was the same scene she saw before. "Because I can tell you have a terrible life. I want to try and help you have a better one, at least for a while" Yoshiki told him. Satoshi stared at him, practically glaring at him actually. "But why? What makes you think I want to stay? Why do you really want to stay? What the hell is going on?! Why are you doing this! I just want to be alone. That's how I belong" Satoshi's thoughts ran at a hundred miles per hour. He stared at Yoshiki blankly, lost in his thought.

But you.. of all the people. It's you. God damn it. Damn it all to hell! He's just gonna fuck up your life like everyone does. Leave! But, but he cares. Can he really be bad? Do you even remember what happened with your father? Of course he could be!

"Satoshi, are you al-" Satoshi stood up quickly, sprinting out of the house. Celeste followed him. Her head was filled with the thoughts that piled up in his head. He didn't know where he was going he just had to leave as quickly as his body would let him

Satoshi quivered as, hands outstretched to him, holding his cheeks. These were Celeste's hands, but not really. The dim light made it hard to tell where they were of who she even was, but those questions weren't the focus now. "I-I can't... You’re..." Satoshi stifled his sobs, covering his mouth with his hand.  "Satoshi, please..." "I can't! I can't Yoshiki!" He barked.

Celeste froze as she met his eyes. He looked so...weak. For the first time, Celeste saw the broken man he was. She saw all the pain and loss he went through. She saw every detail of himself he thought he buried under his cold exterior.

"Satoshi, I'm not leaving you. Please just-" "don't you get it?!" Satoshi interrupted furiously, making Celeste jump back. "You shouldn't care about me! Get it through you're fucking thick skull! I'm alone for a reason. No one would ever want me and no one should I-I don't deserve you so why do you stay and say things like that?". He rested his forehead on her shoulder, sobbing heavily.

"Because there true..."

The world shifted to become the room from before. Celeste looked up to him hesitantly. His back was to her, but something about his pose told her he was waiting for what she had to say

"what are you gonna say? That I need to trust you guys? That I need to stop acting like how I have all my life?" "Satoshi...". He turned to her and regretted it the moment she spoke up. "What about when you had you're mother? Did you hate everyone then? Did you hate her too, like your dad? Did you-" "shut up! Just shut up!" Satoshi balled his hands into fists. He kept his head down to hide the fact he was holding back tears. "You don't know her! You don't know me! You don't know any of us, you're just a stranger who snuck her way into my family!"

Celeste shifted her weight on her feet. She had to do this for him. She had to help him no matter what.

"Satoshi, baby..." Satoshi froze at the gentle voice. The voice he longed for years but was too far to ever have near him again. "It's okay sweetie" Emelia comforted gently, hugging her sobbing child. No matter how guilty it made Celeste feel, she had to do this for him. "I'm so sorry" "shh, it's okay... it's okay Satoshi" Satoshi tried to quiet his sobs. He brought them to a sniffle and occasional hiccup. "That's it dear. Now look at me..". Emelia smiled gently as she wiped away his face. "Satoshi, i love you so much, and I'm so proud of you, but baby, please let go" "b-but...". She sighed, brushing away his bangs affectionately.

"I know you can't let me go Satoshi, I've saw what happened with you and Yoshiki. I've actually seen a lot between you two " she teased, giggling lightly as he looked to his feet. She returned to her composer and gripped his hands "You can't let me stop you from living baby. You need to let go, not for only you but your family too". Satoshi looked at her for a moment, hesitating. "I know what dad did scarred you, but I'm not asking you to forgive him. I'm telling you it's okay to keep living. Life keeps going after a life ends. I hope you understand that"

Satoshi hugged her tightly once again, praying for just a little more time. "I love you" "I love you too...". She lifted up his chin. "And when you get back" "yeah?" "Thank your family for taking care of you for me. I really appreciate it. And tell Yoshiki that his parents are so sorry for what they did". Satoshi smiled weakly and nodded. "Will do momma" "good boy, now don't wait up for me, and don't forget what I said okay? Otherwise I'll have to come back and rough you up". The two laughed happily, letting all their pain melt away, at least for a moment. "Don't worry, I won't forget a moment like this. So... see you later?". Emelia nodded "see you later baby"
