Yugi and Atem were beside them selves. Literally. They stood next to each other as Tom shattered everything in his office. Melino had to duck as a book went flying over her head nearly hitting her. Her eyes were red from crying. she had streaks of eyeliner and mascara running down her face from the tears.
They had just told her what had happened. She had dropped down into the closest chair before she had fallen to the ground. Flashes of the past assulted her mind as they plaid over and over again.
"Tom breaking everything is not going to help her!" Minerva said exasperatedly.
"This is my fault!" Tom snapped distraught. "If I hadn't of made her work with the shadows this wouldn't have happened! I should have killed him when I had the chance!" He growled.
"Worrying about that now isn't going to solve anything. Where would Bella go now?" Minerva asked.
"Its Zorc. Not Bella" Bakura said pacing back and forth in the trashed office. Melino looked over at him. His pacing only made her more anxious. Anger had finally set in as she fed off of the others anger.
"Her main goal was to destroy Egypt. Most of all the pharaoh. She fed off of Christine's anger and hatred." Bakura explained.
"But why?" Tom asked looking over at him.
"She wanted revenge. To kill one of the priests, and I wouldn't let her" Atem explained with a sigh. "Now Zorc can access her when ever she becomes enraged" He added.
"Bella has had her under control because she was pure. Zorc could not get to Christine through Bella. But since she has been tampering with the shadows. She has been weakened." Bakura explained.
"Damn" Melino cursed out as she took in the information that she was getting. She was fighting with her self to not summon any undead. *i don't think a T-rex roaming Britain will be helpful right now* she thought to her self.
Tom kicked the desk leg causing it to break and the desk to fall over to the ground. Melino jumped a little as she was slightly reminded of Hades when he throws one of his tantrums.
"You know you are only hurting your self" Minerva said shaking her head.
"Damn it. I was supposed to protect her! I couldn't even take care of my sister! How the hell did I think I could take care of her when I cant even..." Tom trailed off clearly upset with him self.
Melino sighed a little as she bowed her head. She let out a low growl. she could relate. Anger coursed through her as she sat there angrily. Suddenly, she could not sit there any longer and in moments sprouted fur and fell off the chair onto the ground as a wolf.
She paced the room anxiously as her tail swished from side to side.
Atem closed his eyes thoughtfully.
*what is it Atem?* Yugi asked.
"I was just thinking...maybe Mahad can get through to her" Atem said as he leaned against the wall. Melino stopped in mid pace and looked up at him.
"Or he can find her and tell us where she is at!" Marik said with wide eyes.
Atem summoned Mahad. The magician appeared immediately and bowed.
"Mahad. I need you to try and track Christine and tell me where she is" Atem explained urgently.
Mahad looked up at him with a frown. "I know where she is my pharaoh. Zorc currently resides in the school. She has sent many to the shadow realm already" he explained.
Melino whined a little hearing this. *NO!!!* she let out a howl causing everyone to jump and look over at her.
Everyone's eyes widened in alarm as they heard this news.
"Oh no!" Minerva whispered horrified.
Tom groaned as his head fell into his hands. "This is my fault!"
"Where is she at in the school?" Bakura asked.
"In side the throne room" Mahad replied. "She holds a woman named Selene in side with her" he explained.
"Selene is unharmed?" Tom asked looking up with a hopeful expression.
"For now" Mahad replied. Atem looked up as he felt something land on his shoulder.
As flames engulfed him he disappeared from the manor.
"MARIE!"
"PHARAOH"
the shocked cries of his friends disappeared as he left the manor. Looking up he found him self in darkness.
Yugi appeared beside him. "Where are we?" He asked.
"You are inside Hogwarts" a female voice replied.
Atem and Yugi looked around in alarm.
"Who was that?" Yugi questioned.
"It was me" Marie appeared flapping her wings in front of them.
"You can talk!" Yugi asked surprised.
"I can do a lot of things young pharaoh" Marie replied. "I was unable to communicate because I was weakened by Malfoy and his gang of thugs" she explained. "But now I am strong enough to help you with my daughter" she said.
"Thank you" Atem spoke gratefully.
"Come, I can take you directly to your beloved" Marie said once again landing on his shoulder and engulfs in flames once more.
This time the trio appeared inside a dark room lit by only a dull flame that was diminishing.
"Now where are we?" Atem questions confused.
"You are currently with in the millennium necklace." Marie replied.
Flapping her wings she opened her beak and flame came rushing out of her mouth and onto the burning out flame.
"We don't have time" Marie explained as the light brightened, but only a little.
Atem and Yugi gasped as they caught sight of Christine chained and bound to an unseen wall.
(Her outfit)
She looked as though she had not seen day light in years. She did not even look the same as Atem nor Yugi remembered. Her clothes were dirty and torn.
"Christine!!" Atem gasped, his eyes wide with shock and wonder. He was sure he cloud see blood stains on her clothes. Her face was sunk in and was in severe need of nutrition and sun light.
"Careful pharaoh" Marie cautioned. "This one does not have the same memories as the one that you have recently encountered" she explained.
"Wh-what do you mean?" Yugi questioned. Why would she not have the same memories. Did she forget? What had zorc done to her? These questions raced through Atem and Yugi's mind.
"I mean just that. The Christine that you have been talking to and encountering since your first encounter has been only a projection" Marie said. "A projection that has been created by a young girl who has the heart of a child but the mind of an aged warrior. Bella has only met Christine once. Her first encounter was this very image. She grew up learning all about Christine and you through the history and created her own image of your wife" she explained.
"But...is she" Atem trailed off with wide eyes as he attempted to process what he just learned. None of it was real? How could that be possible?! It was so real.
"How was she able to take over Bella then during the whole seal of Orichalcos fiasco?" Yugi asked. Atem nods, curious about that as well and looked to Marie.
"She is my daughter after all" Marie replied sounding smug. "I am the goddess of Illusion and Darkness. I can control chaos. But with zorc on the loose and controlling her sister then nothing can stop her" Marie explained.
"Her sister?" Yugi questioned tilting his head a little watching a Marie in confusion.
"Zorc is one of my creations. Young pharaoh. A creation that grew far too out of control. Zorc has her father's hatred. She craves it." Marie replied.
Atem was sure he was bound to gain a head ache as he with this new piece of information as he processed it.
"But...how. Zorc is..." Yugi trailed off. How could Marie have created something that has been around for millions of years.
"For someone with the title of king of games...you sure are a slow one. I have just told you. I am the goddess of Illusion and Darkness. And Zorc wants my realm. She believes her self stronger than me, and for the moment...she is" Marie spoke with a grave tone.
"If you can free Christine from her prison. Then she can be saved. But know this pharaoh. Christine will never be able to pass through the gates of the after life. The gods will not permit it" Marie spoke in a grave tone.
"That isn't fair" Yugi said with a frown.
"Be that as it may. That is the will of the gods. Life is not fair young king" Marie replied sadly.
"How do I free her?" Atem questions as he attempts to walk closer to Christine.
"You must break the hold that Zorc has over her" Marie replied.
"How do we do that?" Yugi asked with a confused frown.
"What is it that pushed her to Zorc in the first place?" Marie responded as she landed onto the floor while looking at them tilting her head.
"I...don't know. There was so many things..." Atem replied but trailed off at the end.
"Think pharaoh" Marie urged as she hopped closer. "You know the answer" she added.
"Aknadin? But how am I supposed to fix that...that happened so long ago" Atem said looking distraught.
Marie shakes her head. "Try again my pharaoh. She spent years just fine with you while putting up with that man." Marie said sadly. "But that is not the answer" she added.
Atem and Yugi faced each other.
"Atem?" Yugi questioned.
"I don't know Yugi. This whole thing started with Aknadin. He was constantly tormenting her" he explained. "It was him that she was after during the whole destruction of Egypt." He added shrugging as he tried to think back through the years.
Marie sighed. "History was truly correct clearly you have not learned a thing" she said sadly.
Atem looked at Marie a little insulted.
"Maybe it isn't something so obvious" Yugi suggested.
"Or maybe it is something so obvious that you wouldn't think about, because you write it off as not important" Marie hinted.
Atem and Yugi stood there for several moments before their face lit up. "MANA/TEA!!!" They exclaimed.
They looked to Marie hopeful.
"Wow, you can teach an old man a new trick" Marie said teasingly.
"How is that going to help us free her?" Yugi asked.
Marie shakes her head. "From the moment she was born, all she knew was pain. Her mother died in childbirth. Her stepfather used and abused her. Her village shunned her and treated her as a slave. It was no different when she arrived at the palace" Marie explained. "All she wanted was to be accepted and loved. Any hint of doubt would ruin that" she added with a hopeful tone in her voice.
"But she was accepted! And I did love her....I do!" Atem said in startlement.
"Any hint of doubt though." Yugi repeated what Marie had said. "You spent a lot of time with Mana. She even said it during one of those flash backs." He said turning and looking at the pharaoh. "That was the reasoning behind her affair!"
Atem's eyes widened at this revelation. If he could have, Marie was sure he would be as pale at a piece of white paper.
"I didn't think about that" Atem whispered. "We even talked about it" he said looking over to Christine.
"Christine was afraid that Mana meant more to you. In her eyes, she was just a servant. The line survivor of thieves and killers. What would a high ranking pharaoh have any use of her" Marie spoke quietly, but they still heard her. "Back then it didn't matter, she was just a servant, disposable"
Atem fell to his knees in front of Christine as his hand came up to her cheek softly. "I...didn't...realize...I didn't know" he looked down sadly.
"well, it didnt help that on his death bed, your father let slip that the pharaohs of the past took concubines" Marie dead panned.
"wait what?"
