He Surprises You

A/N: I am so bad at titles. This isn't like: they all surprise you by either proposing or not forgetting your birthday. These are when he takes you by surprise by feeling something about him.... Try fitting that into a short title! Hope you enjoy xx

Simon ~ "Dammit!" You yelled, throwing your controller onto the couch. It had been another evening at the Lewis household playing another game of Mario Kart 8. It was the game both you and Simon loved but hated because you were both terribly competitive.

"I hate losing!" You shouted. "Especially to you Lewis!" Simon laughed and began getting another round started.

"You're the only person I don't mind losing to." He said, making your heart flutter. You sat back down on the couch, not even realising you had stood up when you got frustrated, and looked at Simon a little differently now. Maybe you understood why Red-Head liked him around so much.

Raphael ~ You shot up in bed, your heart pounding in your chest and sweat beading down your forehead. You cursed and put your head in your hands. Another nightmare. Losing your parabatai was the hardest and most painful experience you had ever gone through. It was worse than you could have even imagined. It had been a week since her death and you could hardly get out of bed. You dropped training and socializing, becoming a ghost in the Institute. You heard your phone buzzing from your nightstand and picked it up looking closely. Raphael. The vampire that taught one of your new best friends on how to be a vampire. Having thought he was extremely attractive (and charming), you had gotten to know Raphael, usually he was sarcastic, and almost... harsh? You felt your heart warm at the thought that he was calling you, so you answered.

Magnus ~ The days had felt like years when hunting a demon. One, in particular, had been hopping towns and staying under the radar for an annoyingly long month, which you had been suffering. Since you had been assigned to the most ninja demon to ever exist. You had gotten so frustrated and sick of all the rules and people in the investigation (really, just older Shadowhunters yelling at you to find the bastard) that you had left the Institute without a word and went to the only place you could do whatever the hell you wanted. The Pandemonium. Weird black-out drunk people sang, danced, and yelled throughout the room, making you feel a little less tense.

"Well, well, well," You heard a familiar voice at your shoulder. "A Shadowhunter drinking on duty."

"Shut up Magnus." You mumbled, taking another shot.

"Don't worry," He said, swarming into view. "Your secret is safe with me." You gave a glittery wink and walked away. You surprised yourself by laughing, something that had never come easily. You felt a sting in your chest, maybe it was time to do "He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not" shots.

Jace ~ You smiled and gave the little boy a hug and then his parents picked him up. They thanked you for what seemed like the millionth time before walking away. It was almost like they thought you were a superhero, you thought, like saving a little boy from getting lost in a grocery store was something worthy of a Marvel comic.

"That was nice of you."

"Jace Wayland, why are you following me?" You turned to him, he smiled.

"Because we're supposed to be hunting a demon together, not saving cats from trees."

"He wasn't a cat." You mumbled. "Anyways, I like working alone." You started to walk away.

"Well, I like hunting with you." Jace said, you stopped and looked at him. "You're much more fun than Alec sometimes." You giggled and felt butterflies in your stomach erupt. God, this guy has gotten under your skin.

Alec ~ You threw your oven mitts onto the floor and sworn so loudly that Alec had thought the alarms would start going off. All you wanted was a nice cooked dinner with the satisfaction of doing it right.

"Y/N are you alright?" Alec asked, cautiously walking into the kitchen, seeing the mess of dishes, spills, and splatters.

"Do I look alright!?" You screamed, hot tears formed in your eyes. "I just wanted to do something right! One little thing! But no! Everything has to turn out wrong!" You felt guilty yelling at Alec, he hadn't done anything, you did. You looked down ashamed and embarrassed, picking up the oven mitts.

"I'm sorry," You mumbled. "I'll be quieter." Just then you heard the water running, you looked up and saw Alec starting to wash the dishes. He looked at you with his blue eyes.

"How about you order some Chinese food?" He suggested. "I can clean these." He smiled and continued to clean the dishes. You felt your heart flutter and your cheeks warm.

"Sure," You said. "But don't expect me to share."
