The protagonist is a warlock.

But not a normal one. The protagonist has one or more special abilities. Can go from 100% accurate future-telling, complete control of the elements, taking to animals etc...

Magnus is impressed and a friendship or even a relationship develops. A jealousy storyline with Alec is possible.
