Evangeline pov
I was with my uncle Elijah as he read. I sketched various things.

It had been three weeks since I had come to New Orleans and things had been crazy. I had bonded again with my uncle and even though he didn't say anything I knew he was happy I was back with him.

I was drawn out of my thoughts by my favorite uncle speaking.
"Eva. What do you say we go train?" I smiled.
"If you think you can win uncle."
"Very funny Evangeline. Let's go." I smirked and spoke.
"Let me get changed."

Minus jacket and scarf while training.

I met my uncle and he smirked the very smirk I had inherited.
" Come on Eva." I took a deep breath then went for it. We fought back and forth till I ended up pinning him down with my seraph blade at his throat.
" Got you." He chuckled and spoke.
" Good job Eva. You've gotten stronger." We got up and wiped down.

After, we were going to the kitchen to get some water. Uncle Elijah spoke.
"So how have you been?"
"Okay I guess. Better since I found Alec and Jace." He smiled softly.
"I imagine." I sat on the bar and drank some water. Then I spoke.
"Uncle Elijah." He looked at me.
"Why do you stay here?" He sighed and sat down in front of me.
"Sweetie. Family is important. It means everything." I looked away with tears in my eyes.
"Apparently not to everyone." Uncle Elijah smiled softly and rubbed my back.
"You'll always have me Eva. I won't let anything hurt you." I smiled and leaned into him closing my eyes. It didn't take long for me to fall asleep.

Elijah pov
I saw Eva asleep so I picked her up and put her on the couch. I draped a blanket over her. I sighed and looked at my niece.

She was right. Why should I stay where problem after problem occur? Poor Eva has been dealt so much hardship in her life. More then anyone should have to go through.

After a bit the young man named Alec came in. He saw her asleep and smiled.
" She finally got some rest huh?"
" Indeed she did." He came over and bent down. I saw him kiss her forhead then he stood up.
" She talks about you you know. All the time. How amazing you are. How she wants to be just like you." I looked shocked then looked at my niece.
" She's already pretty amazing." I said.
" Yeah. She is." He brushed some hair from her cheek then spoke.
" Jace and I are headed out for a little bit. Make sure she knows that we'll be fine." I nodded and watched him leave. I sat down and put my niece's head in my lap. It wasn't long before Freya came in.
" She's powerful."
" She always has been Freya. And she gets more powerful as time goes on." Freya nodded and looked at Eva.
" So Ana was her mother."
" Yes."
" She's just as spirited and stubborn as Ana was." I chuckled.
" That she is." Just then Eva moved a little. I smiled and stroked her hair. She smiled and curled into me. I put my hand in her's and spoke.
" It's going to take a lot for her to trust them enough to work with them." Freya spoke.
" Elijah. What happened?" I sighed and spoke.
" Ana was murdered for wanting to stay with her family. Our mother killed her. The others blamed Eva and her father for it and she grew to resent them."
" But you don't treat her as if she's at fault." I sighed and spoke.
" It's not her fault. Ana was protecting those she loves." Freya nodded her head. I picked my niece up and went to her room to lay her down.

I lay her on her bed then sighed. Why couldn't they see it wasn't her fault that Ana died? I kissed her head then left.

Evangeline pov
I woke up to find myself in my room. Uncle Elijah must have put me in my bed. I sat up and rubbed my eyes.
" You're awake again." I looked and saw Jace leaning against the doorway with a smirk.

He only had a sweatshirt on and it was only partially zipped up. I giggled and spoke.
" Nice look there."
" I know." I rolled my eyes but smiled. Jace came over and kissed me.
" Glad you're awake. I was worried Alec and I wouldn't get back before you woke up." I smiled and put my hand on his cheek.
" Well you did. Now could you please sit down?" He laughed and sat down letting me lean into him.
" You know this isn't that bad all things considered." I smirked and turned.
" Yeah. My family, with the exception of my uncle Elijah, may be bastards but they know how to make people feel welcome." Jace chuckled and pulled me closer. We kissed deeply before he pulled away.
" I think someone else wants attention also." I looked and saw Alec watching us with a smile. I grinned and went over putting my arms around his waist. He picked me up and we kissed deeply. Once we were settled on the bed I spoke.
" Did you find anything?" Alec spoke.
" Nothing. Whoever is doing this wants to make sure they aren't known." I sighed and fell back.
" Great. Just what I was afraid of." I kept quiet for a bit before I spoke.
" I may have to tap into my magic and see what I can find." Jace spoke.
"Will it work?"
" Maybe. Some times a little risk is needed to get the desired results." I gave them both a kiss then spoke.
" I'm gonna need a few things if this is gonna work and I have a feeling my Aunt Freya knows exactly where to get them."
