Evangeline pov
I was training with Jace when I heard a loud crash. I sped to find Klaus and uncle Lijah fighting. I growled and sped over throwing Klaus to the the other side of the room. I helped uncle Lijah up before I was pinned to the wall.
"Just the girl I was hoping to see." I gasped and tried to get out of my uncle's hold. Uncle Lijah spoke.
" Let her go Niklaus. She has nothing to do with this."
" On the contrary Elijah. She has everything to do with this." Just then Alec spoke up.
" Let her go right now monster." I saw he had his bow ready to go while Jace looked ready to attack. Izzy had her wip out and was holding it threateningly. Klaus smirked.
" You're no match for me boy."
"Maybe not but I can cause a distraction." I used my magic and caused my uncle to fall back hard. I ran to Alec who held me tightly. Jace checked me over for any bruises. Uncle Lijah was in front of me protectively.
" Leave her be Niklaus. This is my decision."
" And you just so happen to choose to go back with her?" I got out of Alec's arms and put a hand on my uncle's back. He eased up but was still on guard.
" Uncle Lijah?" He sighed and spoke.
" Once this is over I'm leaving here. I was hoping to spend a little time with you." I grinned and hugged him tightly. He chuckled and hugged me back.
" You promise that you'll come with?"
"I give you my word Eva." I grinned and hugged him then let go. He smiled and kissed my head.

Later I was in my room drawing when I heard a knock on my door. I looked up and saw Alec standing there.

I grinned and spoke.
" Hey you." He smiled and came over.
" Hey love." I giggled and put my hand on his cheek.
"You are perfect." He chuckled and kissed me.
" You are just as perfect." I smiled and spoke.
" What's up?" He took my hands and spoke.
" I just wanted to make sure you were okay." I sighed and sat back.
" I'll be fine." Alec sat down and spoke.
" What is it?" I looked away with tears in my eyes. I sighed than spoke.
" You know they weren't always like this with me. There was a time when they were the best uncles and aunt a girl could ask for. Than one day my mom was murdered by my grandfather right in front of me. That night everything changed. My uncle Klaus said they were leaving and I wasn't invited to go with them. That I would just get in the way and I was useless. He kept going on and on till I ran away shaking and sobbing. Uncle Lijah came and found me. He told me that none of those words spoken were true. That I was always needed and family. He told me to stay with my father and that he would find a way to stay in touch with me. He was the only one that didn't say hurtful words that day but the words that Klaus said were the worst. I used to admire him so much. He's why I love to draw and paint. He was the one that first taught me how to control my various sides. I couldn't believe when he told me that I was useless. This from the same man that taught me the beauty in the small things. In nature and other things. I don't know what changed that night but part of me still wants to hope they'll go back to the family I loved." Alec pulled me close and rubbed my back. The bed sank and I saw Jace there looking sad and worried. I wiped my tears away and focused on my mates being here.

Three weeks later
I was on a rooftop looking down.

I had finally figured out where the demons were and we were going to destroy them tonight. Something very unusual had happened. Since that night I told Jace and Alec everything my uncles and aunt had been less hostile. Klaus had even tried to talk to me a little bit.

I sighed and shook out of my thoughts.

I saw movement and spoke.
" We got them." Alec's voice came over the headset.
" Let's go." I dropped down and followed the demon. Soon it was a fight.

During the fight I didn't at first notice something sneaking up on my uncles till it was almost too late. I sped over just in time to get bitten. I fell back and held my arm. Uncle Lijah sped over and spoke.
" Eva."
" I'll be fine." I said with a shaky breath. He picked me up and soon we were at the mansion.

Right as we entered I fell unconscious.

Elijah pov
I put Evangeline down on the couch as soon as I saw her go unconscious.
" Freya!" My sister came down and ran over.
" What happened?" Niklaus spoke.
" She was trying to save us." Freya came over and took off Eva's jacket. She put her hands over our niece and began to work her magic. Niklaus was pacing aggressively.
"How could she be so stupid?!" I sighed and spoke.
" Niklaus now is not the time."
" Yes it is brother! I knew this would happen!! I knew that she would end up hurt or worse because of us!!! That's why I said those things that night!" I froze then stood up.
" Niklaus! You deliberately told our niece hurtful things to keep her away?!" He sighed and spoke.
" She doesn't deserve the pain and suffering that follows us. We never deserved someone like her in our family. I told her things that were never true so she wouldn't follow us and get hurt in the process. I did what I had to to protect her Elijah. I swore to always protect her however I could." Before another word could be said Freya spoke.
" Brothers." We both looked to see Eva watching us. She looked ready to cry and I knew she had heard every word Niklaus had said.
