✭ Camille Belcourt
Camille Bealcourt was a very beautiful vampire. She became the head of the New York vampire clan at some point of her life. She was known as the 'Ancient One' by others considering how old she was. Before she became a vampire, she used to create magnificent and spectacular hats for downworlders. The hats were woven with magic. A warlock, whose identity remains anonymous, helped her. However, the part of her life came to an end when the hats started moving on their own and the warlock was angry.
Camille had always admired night time, so she was very delighted when she became a vampire. She became close to Alexei Mortmain during some 1800s. She met a warlock, Ralf Scott (older brother of Woosely Scott) and fell in love with him. Because of the bad blood between Werewolves and Vampires, the pair decided to keep their relationship a secret. But Alexeu found out and had Ralf killed as a punishment. Camille was devastated amd swore to take revenge from Alexei.
Soon after she met Magnus Bane, who she had first seen during the peace records. The pair had an understanding and even started to live together.
She was also an informant for Charlotte Branwell Fairchild and taking advantage of Tessa Gray's ability, she planned her revenge. Camille told them about how Alexei was breaking the accords and Tessa Gray and Will Herondale attended the party. Although many vampires died at the party, a few survived and Camille was forced to run. After she came back, Magnus and she had a fight and they broke up. She presumably did not keep contact with Magnus for a well over a century.
Camille moved to New York during 1920s and rose to become the head of the New York vampire clan. She had a life full of luxury but soon she became addicted to human blood. He former lover, Magnus Bane, helped her and her vampires become sober.
Her second in command, Raphael Santiago found out she had been killing humans again, he tbreatened to tell the clave. She was once again forced to flee. She then started killing the former members of The Circle for Lilith in hopes of reclaiming her clan. But Lilith imprisoned her. Alec Lightwood promised to free her if she would tell him how to make Magnus Bane, his lover, a mortal. Camille, hungry for freedom, agreed and fleed when Alec left.
Magnus was devastated to hear what Alec had did, so he left him. Alec wanted to kill Camille for what she did but was surprised to find that Maureen Brown had killed Camille already.
Camille's presence gave us many twists and if not for her, the Shadowhunters of London institute would have never known about the party. Although she did not get a redemption arc, she is still an important character.
