"They knew everything about us, our languages, our politics, our weapons.  Vampires we called them, fanged beings who drank our blood. About them, we knew only the fiction written for entertainment. Nearly everything we knew was wrong...
"These creatures could walk in the sun the same as any human. They were not the living dead but another species entirely. Vampires did not need to drink our blood to survive but instead, they found it a drug that enhanced their magic and gave them a high, unlike any other blood source they consumed. To them, humans were a commodity.
"The day the vampires came, humans discovered that nothing we could do would stop them. Though we launched our greatest weapons, nuclear bombs, in an attempt to stop them, we only succeeded in killing millions of our people, while the majority of the vampires survived un-effected. Only those creatures at the very centers of the explosions perished. Within forty-eight hours the Vampires had taken control of the entire world. Since that day our world has become theirs. We either serve them or attempt to hide and eventually get hunted down.
