-Chapter 1-

Jonathan's POV

My mind swirled as I opened my eyes from managing to get a few short hours of sleep. I often don't get much sleep, nor do I believe I need it. A splitting headache greeted me making my body get up and grab some ibuprofen. I never know how much of something I need to take so I usually took whatever I first get out of the bottle. It hasn't killed me and works so I stick with it.

Sluggishly I moved to my porcelain white desk in my living room. My house is relevantly small so I don't need to move much to enter a completely different room. I sat down on my black desk chair and turned on the lamp to my left which provided little, yet enough, light. I reached out and grabbed a pencil on the desk and let my mind take over.

For countless hour I sat in the same spot drawing, writing all different types of things, and even plotting my night schedule. Soon my hand started aching so I put down the pencil and stretched. A satisfied sigh let my parted lips. I leaned back into my chair causing a wave of calmness to wash over me, just to be replaced by that same feeling I get every day. The feeling of being watched.

I sat up straighter, more alert, telling whoever was watching me that I was aware of their presence. The feeling didn't go away even when I closed all the blinds and curtains in my home. I thought about tearing apart every inch of my house apart to find any hidden cameras. The idea was strange yet somewhat intriguing at the same time.

The debate went on for a few more moments before I ultimately decided to go back to my normal routine. I changed into a pair of normal, average pair of clothes. Then I freshened up a bit before leaving my house to go and get some breakfast. I normally skipped eating but my body was craving nutrients since the meat from last night didn't tame my hunger.

Walking from where I live to a normal part of town was fairly easy for me, since I wasn't an easy target. My well built structure and alert posture made any reasonable criminal stay away from me. The rumor about me crushing a guy's skull in half a second definitely helped too. As I walked down the street, with my earphones playing music into my head, I still felt like I was being stalked.

Before I had realized it I was approaching a small diner near the library I went to everyday, which was more than convient. When I entered the building it seemed as if the person watching me had left, which was nice but also alarming. Now I wasn't sure if my mind was playing games with me or if someone really was watching me.

I went and sat down at a table in the corner of the room and looked through the menu already on the table. It wasn't before long that I noticed a woman approaching me. Her top was way too tight to show off her curves and pushed up her basically nonexistent breasts. Her skirt was obviously cut shorter by the faint tears at the bottom. She was wearing so much makeup I couldn't tell if she was a circus clown or waitress. I internally groaned as she smirked in my direction.

"Hey there hottie, what can I get you to drink?" She asked seductively.

"Water is fine," I replied without looking at her.

She breathed in quickly, showing she was becoming impatient, "Alrighty! My name is Delaney just incase you need me."

The amount of desperation from her was overwhelming, "Uh actually can I just order right now?"

"Oh! Of course! I see you're a quick man."

I looked at her for the first time and her cheeks heated up. My appetite was completely lost at this point.

"Yeah. I'll just have the waffle, egg, and bacon special. Eggs over-easy."

Delaney became disappointed for some reason. I prayed she didn't think I was gonna try and ask her out or something just then.

Being sexy is too difficult.

"Coming right up," she walked away and swayed her hips widely.

I knew there was no way I was coming back here any time soon. A slight wave of nausea hit me and put one hand on my face. My face was really warm and my hands were freezing cold now. I groaned, knowing it was one of the side effects of taking too many pills of ibuprofen this morning.

Luckily Delaney came back with my water. I didn't bother thanking her because there was no reason I needed to. She was providing me something I'm paying for, so I don't need to thank her for bringing it to me. The idea of thanking someone in general was not on my to-do list, ever.

Just as I became slightly content I felt like I was being watched one more. My eyes flickered around the room quickly and no one was watching me from inside, not even Delaney was around. I let out part of my frustration and tapped my fingers on the table, impatiently. Deciding to just ignore everything, I closed my eyes tightly and waited for my food to arrive.

About thirteen minutes later I heard footsteps approaching me. I opened my eyes and saw a piece of paper folded on the middle of the table. Concern flooded my body for the fact that I'm just know hearing someone approaching me. I reached over and grabbed the paper as Delaney came into view with my breakfast.

"Here you go hottie, oh and here's this," she grabbed a small piece of paper stuck in between her shirt and breast then proceeded to hand it to me. "Call me sometime."

I took the paper and smiled. She was about to smile back but I ripped the paper in half in front of her face. Horror and anger spread across her face in a millisecond.

"Don't give strangers your number," I stated simply before handing her back the now torn paper.

She huffed and stomped off. I didn't think about her anymore and instead focused on the random note on my table. My gut told me to wait and open it until I got to the library, but my mind wanted answers. I quickly opened up the paper and the read what was written.

'Jonathan, I have inspected you for awhile now and I now need you for a job inquiry. Don't worry, I'm not going to harm you. Meet me behind the library on Greenleaf street at midnight. Come alone and don't bring any weapons. Can't wait to see you there. -Sincerely, V.'

Without hesitation I crumpled up the paper and stuffed it in my pocket. I already knew who this was from, I just didn't know what kind of job he would want me, of all people, to take care of. I slowly pieced together that he must be the one following me, which increased the critical parts of this situation.

I tried to eat my food quickly so I could get out of there quickly. The library was the only place I could feel semi-safe in public since there wasn't many people in there. Plus Delaney was glaring at me from across the room making the need to leave this place grow stronger.

Once I was satisfied and fed I played money for the meal on the table, not bothering to tip that hoe of a waitress. When I opened the doors to the exit the diner, a gust of cold air hit my body making me shiver. I was hesitant to leave the warm heated building but decided to go before the wind picked up even more.

I glanced up at the sky to see dark grey clouds instead of the light blue sky. It was about to rain very soon and I prayed it would stop by the time I had to head home. I've always hated everything about the rain, from it's smell to the noise of water hitting against every surface below it. How anyone could enjoy the rain was beyond me.

A drop of water hit my shoulder as the library came into my view. I cursed knowing this day couldn't get any worse. My pace picked up and I entered the library before the rain had decided to pour. Once inside, the smell of coffee hit my nose. The familiarity of the building calmed some of my nerves. I made my way deeper into the library and saw Marta, an older lady who welcomes me each time I arrive.

She turned and saw me making my way toward her, "Oh Jon! I didn't think you were coming today, but then again you're full of suprises."

I smirked, "I sure am. So, do you have anything new for me today?"

Marta shook her head, "Nope, not today. I think we might be getting some new books tomorrow."

"Oh, okay. I'll be in the normal spot if you need me," I replied.

"Alright, sweetie. You know where to find me," she pinched my cheek and walked away.

The smile fell from my face as she left. Marta was nice but to me she was too nice. It was as if the lady didn't have a bad or negative bone in her body. I slightly envied her for that.

With a few quick paces, I returned to my normal spot in the library. It was a spot in the corner of the room with a comfortable office chair, accompanied with a small desk. I sat down and let out a heavy sigh.

For awhile I read a random book I had grabbed off the shelf. It was nice until I heard the rain hitting the windows and roof of the library, causing an annoying pitter-patter noise to echo throughout the building. The constant noise made me become anxious so I stood up and wandered around the towers of books. I hated how any constant noises made me anxious, it was one of my biggest weaknesses that I prayed no one knew about.

As I wandered around attempting to calm my mind I saw a short guy trying to grab a book from the top shelf. He couldn't quite reach it and I was about to walk away when I realized he seemed familiar. I couldn't quite see his face so I moved toward him.

"Need some help?"

The man slightly jumped and turned toward me. I became disappointed when I didn't recognize him at all.

"Uh, yeah. Thank you," his voice was deeper than I anticipated.

"Don't mention it," I replied while handing him the book.

He smiled gratefully, "I'm Lui and before you ask, no, it's not short for anything.

I raised my eyebrow but didn't question him, "Jon."

"Is that short for anything?" he asked.

"That's for you to wonder and for me to know," I stated simply and started to walk away.

Lui grabbed my arm with a greater force than I anticipated, "Aw c'mon don't be that way. Tell me."

"What do I get out of telling you?"

He smiled widely, "A friend!" his voice came out high pitched like a little kid's voice.

I frowned, "Yeah, well, friends aren't my kinda thing."

"Well that sucks because they're my kinda thing," he smirked.

My patience was running thin so I just agreed, "Fine, now leave me alone."

"I will but first we need to exchange numbers since we're friends now."

I rolled my eyes at him but did as he said. This guy was persistent, I'll give him that, but he's still very agitating. His proud smirk made me even more pissed off.

Lui pat my shoulder, "Well then Jon, I'll see you some other time."

"Maybe," I replied with a blank face and walked away without being stopped this time.

My body was fuming with anger as I returned to my spot. I couldn't believe how I let my mood from the rain and curiosity get the best of me. A frustrated huff left my lips as I put my hand on part of my face. Lazily I layed my head onto my now crossed arms. My eyes felt heavy and my body slowly relaxed.

A small delicate finger tapped my shoulder. I immediately knew it was Marta and lifted my head up.

"Oh good you aren't dead. The library is about to close dear, so why don't you head home and get some good rest?"

I nodded and stood up as Marta walked off into the maze of bookshelves. My head turned to the clock and it was shocking that I had slept for such a long time. Without much more thought I started to head home and waited as midnight came closer, one second at a time.
