Chapter 82 - Half-baked skill was better than nothing

XG 82 - Half-baked skill was better than nothing

"Hansik! What are you doing, pissing them off?" Oh Junghan would have cried if it was not the right time. "We will be taking the lead, but they will be right behind us! There's no way they will not help us. If you continue to anger them, they won't even help us anymore!"

Park Donghae quickly patted Do Wheein's arm. "Aiyah, Wheein ah, don't use your gun to scare people." Then he lowered his voice. "Do you still have bullets left?"

Do Wheein answered in an equally low voice. "No."

The remaining bullet was used when she shot the zombie that nearly grabbed onto Park Donghae when they went to capture a zombie earlier. He also knows that he was the reason for the loss of the bullet and did not say anything anymore. Anyway, she was not upset over it, as bullets do not come unlimited.

After that, Park Donghae turned to Do Wheein's aunt. "Su-Hwa, your words are correct but don't say it out loud and anger people, ah. It's dangerous if you get hurt."

"You-!"

Oh Junghan quickly grabbed Kang Hansik's arm to stop him from charging at them with his bat. "Calm down, Hansik!"

"Tsk! You bunch of useless people only know how to talk anyway! You will all die-"

Perhaps it was from shock, but Wong Xue Guo suddenly hiccupped after seeing Kang Hansik suddenly swallowed into the crayon stickman's body. Even his voice could not be heard anymore. Oh Junghan falls to the ground, his whole body trembling in horror.

"Y-Yuna?" Lee Su-Hwa glanced at Yuna beside her, who had an angry pout as she glared at the place where Kang Hansik stood before.

"Swallowed... or a spatial dimension?" Wong Xue Guo guessed but hoped to be the latter. If it was the former, it would be a very dangerous ability as the owner was mentally unstable. Sometimes, one just does not know which was worse, an insane and naively cruel or one with high intelligence and intentionally cruel.

As a long-time buddy that shares the same hobby as Wong Xue Guo, Kang Xunsu's eyes brightened once hearing her words. "Sung-Ho, try to get Yuna to see if she could toss that bastard out!"

But Yuna does not really listen to Kim Sung-Ho even if she understands his words. In the end, thanks to Lee Su-Hwa's coaxing, Yuna finally did something.

The 'father' figure inserted his 'hand' into his torso and then dragged something out. Kang Hansik was tossed out alive, confirming Wong Xue Guo's second guess.

"Hansik!" Oh Junghan was comforted seeing the alive Kang Hansik. He had really thought Hansik had died!

The previous hostility on Kang Hansik was now replaced with fear, eying everyone around him as if they were monsters. He even dragged his body away from the crayon-like figures, afraid to be swallowed once again.

With a glance, they did not see anything wrong with Kang Hansik other than being traumatised. They could only wait and see if he had any other side effects. It was an unexpected shocking scene, and the only consolation was getting the bear kid to finally shut up.

"She would be a good addition when it comes to looting goods..." Wong Xue Guo mumbled thoughtfully.

"She will join the looting team if it's confirmed to be a harmless process." Kang Xunsu also agreed.

"We need to check how much she can carry," L.L. added his own thoughts.

"We also need to see how well she could control her ability!" Ash chimed in excitedly. If Yuna could be used as mobile storage, he would no longer need to carry around heavy stuff while fleeing for his life!

"We should ask if Yuna wants to do that or not first," Chen Yibo, the voice of reason, finally cut in before their imagination got too far ahead when the said person was in the dark when it came to their schemes.

"Yuna wants to help!" Yuna's voice suddenly broke their conversation. She smiled happily at Lee Su-Hwa, who praised repeatedly how useful she was, making her very happy. But everyone knows Yuna does not really understand what 'help' entails. She was just saying that to get praise.

As for how Yuna would say that sentence, it was actually Kim Sung-Ho's deed, who had asked Lee Su-Hwa to get Yuna to agree to help them. Chen Yibo suddenly thinks that their group had a bad influence on Kim Sung-Ho's upbringing.

"Kang Hansik's experience will be valuable feedback," Park Sungmin noted and the others that were enlightened turned their head to look at the shivering Kang Hansik.

Kang Hansik nearly jumped out of his skin when everyone's eyes were on him, but what terrified him was the eagerness to pry him apart glinted in their eyes.

Lee Su-Hwa does not want to talk to him, so Do Wheein approaches Kang Hansik to question him instead of the soft-hearted Park Donghae. "What did you see, feel and hear when you were swallowed... captured?"

But they learned that the scary encounter could not curb Kang Hansik's stubbornness. "Why would I tell you?"

Do Wheein raised an eyebrow. "You want to try it again?"

Kang Hansik does not believe they would do it again, but when the crayon-like figure suddenly moved, he quickly changed his attitude. "I will tell you! Get that thing far away from me!"

"As long as you answer properly, we won't do it again," Do Wheein promised.

"... It's a black empty space." Kang Hansik trembled just from remembering it. "I can't hear anything or see anything."

"Do you feel any pain? Cold? Hot?"

"No...?" he answered uncertainly before repeating the word more firmly, "No."

Kang Hansik had just stayed inside the dark space for a while and was in a panicked state, so he does not know much other than the obvious. It was also uncertain whether the time moved the same pace between two spaces, and whether the space had bad after-effects to Kang Hansik that would only manifest itself after a long time.

"With her ability, no one in the lab will think she is useless even with her mentality of a child," Wong Xue Guo said.

"No one would dare think she is useless even without her ability," Chen Yibo denied.

It was because of their closer relationship that Wong Xue Guo only stared at Chen Yibo in pity without any frustration. "Do you still think that?"

Chen Yibo does not actually believe that very much, but he still resists believing that humans would be that profit-minded. At least, he wants to believe that even with their current situation, not everyone thinks that way.

He believed that there would still be kind people that help people without judging people's usefulness. It would be fair to everyone for giving them the chance to prove themselves before judging them.

With no one protesting the line-up, it was time to move out.

"Should we use the back lane?"

"Can we use the front?" Do Wheein suddenly said. She hesitated and glanced at the oblivious Yuna before lowering her voice to inform what she had seen. "The family dog is dead behind the lane. It was... bitten badly. It's bloody and not suitable for Yuna to see."

Although they doubt Yuna could recognize the bloody remains of her dog, they still agreed not to risk it. What if she suddenly notices something and recognizes the family dog? If Do Wheein, who had only seen the dog a few times when she visited the supermarket could recognize the dog, it was a high possibility that Yuna could too.

An ability user with an unsound mind would be very dangerous if agitated.

The mini market was zombie free and they safely reached the front entrance. There were wandering zombies around the street, which they avoided triggering their attention by hunching forward, using cars to block them from sight.

"That's your car?" Park Donghae asked as Kang Xunsu and Chen Yibo sneaked over to examine the car for any severe damage. Their car was fortunately intact, but one of their windows was broken.

"Yes," Kim Sung-Ho answered for the group as he helped Chen Yibo sweep the snow away from their car.

"That won't be enough space for us all." Park Sungmin narrowed his gaze and looked around the street.

With one glance over the street, they could see most of the cars were damaged badly from either crashing into a building or into another car. There were intact cars, but they were polluted with dried blood or dead bodies sitting inside.

None of them feel comfortable pulling out the dead bodies or riding a car splashed with blood, even if it was already dried.

"Sungmin and I do not know how to wire a car. How about any of you?" Park Donghae asked everyone.

"I know," Kang Xunsu answered lazily when everyone shook their heads, as they were all used to be respectable, law-abiding citizens without money difficulty that encouraged them to commit a crime. "But I prefer to drive with a car key."

L.L. gave Kang Xunsu an unimpressed glare, as he would always end up driving the car. So why was he trying to act as if he would suffer instead? It would be better if he honestly answered that he has no confidence in his skill to hotwire a car.

But L.L. did not rip apart his partner's stage, because the half-baked skill was better than nothing.
