XG 80 - Do you wish for something

The moment she mentioned it, Chen Yibo looked peeved. It was quite rare to see him in a negative expression. "I never thought he would be dangerous."

Chen Yibo assumed Wong Xue Guo would be safe after hiding with Man Jeong, but who knew that he was actually letting her enter the wolf's trap? Turns out he could only ensure her safety if he stayed by her side.

"I never thought he would be a pervert too. There is nothing to blame yourself for. Hey, aren't you taking the 'bodyguarding' job way too seriously?"

"I promised Mrs. Wong."

Wong Xue Guo was quite put out hearing that.

As she spent more time with him, she had gradually come to terms that Chen Yibo was very righteous and kept his word, faithfully tagging along to protect her. Yet, a small tendril of greed slowly lengthens in her heart, desiring him to protect her not for the promise, but out of his own will.

Lowering her eyes to cover her unusual emotions, she lightly said, "That pervert appearing is a rare incident, with no one expecting it. Don't think about it anymore. I'm still alive and my injuries were not life-threatening. Don't make it sound as if I've suffered badly."

How could Chen Yibo not think about it anymore? But facing Wong Xue Guo who wished to put that experience away, he nodded as he silently vowed to do better next time.

Everyone's attention was now on Do Wheein, who loosened the sack and dropped a disfigured zombie out of it. Their group had already anticipated it so they had already prepared their hearts, but that does not mean they were completely alright with it. Some of them had their face washed out of color and refused to stare at the zombie anymore.

But there were two people that were not given heads up and got the shock of their lives.

Kang Hansik's eyes widened in horror, thinking they must be sick in their head for capturing a zombie and even went so far as to chop its limbs off. Oh Junghan could not control his terror and let out a scream before covering his mouth.

Kim Sung-Ho stared at Do Eunhyuk worriedly. "Mr. Vihaan was already bitten many times and does not need to get bitten again. I don't know how to estimate whether Mr. Do will have enough or not."

"Mr. Do will have to determine it. If you feel anything different, immediately tell us."

Body filled with tension, Do Eunhyuk nodded rigidly. "I will."

Following Suzie Yap's advice, Kang Xunsu dislocated the zombie's jaw, letting it remain wide open. Its teeth were intact, very unlike its flesh that was missing here and there.

Wong Xue Guo purposely sat far away, with her back against the wall. With the help of her face mask, whatever rotten scent emitting from the rotting corpse was mostly blocked from reaching her nostril. Chen Yibo chooses to sit beside her with his face mask on as well and his hand resting on his gun, prepared to shoot if Do Eunhyuk failed.

It was a small worry of letting other people watch the process, but it would also be a good deed in letting others learn what to do if they were bitten. As for them turning greedy and getting bitten purposely, that was their own choice. Especially if they just watched and did not ask for more details of the process, they might just be seeking their own death with the incorrect procedure.

If they survive, that was just their blind luck in hitting the right spot.

Kang Hansik and Oh Junghan had also sat far away from the group, not wanting to approach the zombie or the bed with a corpse on top of it. Their fearful eyes were full of questions, but both did not dare to ask anything. They do feel curious about why they captured a zombie, but that does not mean they would go closer to them.

"Ready?" Kang Xunsu asked, holding the zombie's head firmly, not allowing it to wiggle away.

Do Eunhyuk nodded and with only a hasty eye blinking that betrayed his composure, he watched as Kang Xunsu pierced the zombie's teeth onto his amputated arm. His daughter kneeled beside him, feeling like crying yet had to remain strong for her father.

"We need to continue to feed him," Kim Sung-Ho reminded and Lee Su-Hwa quickly cooked more instant noodles.

"What the fuck!" Kang Hansik hissed in terror at their craziness, his eyes darting around to look at everyone in the room. He grips tighter onto his bat. "Are they a cult?!"

"No... maybe? That man seems to have been bitten before." Oh Junghan was also uncertain. He had seen the one armed man have increasingly white hair and adding with the sight of his weight that does not fit his clothing, he could come to his own conclusion. But with the others not minding it, he also did not say anything to avoid angering them.

"Then why do they get him bitten again?!" Kang Hansik fiercely whispered, trembling in revulsion.

Oh Junghan had no answer to that. He could not conjure any possible reason for getting that man bitten again and had spent sixty seconds agreeing with Kang Hansik that they were cult only to disagree with it after seeing the others were rather sane looking.

Wong Xue Guo was afraid the duo would suddenly attack them, with how anxious they looked. She poked Chen Yibo with a finger and then pointed at the duo. He understands her worry and finally speaks to them.

"We are trying to save him. Please calm down."

"Save him? You call that saving him?!" Kang Hansik pointed his bat at the poor man being bitten.

At the same time, Do Eunhyuk stopped his mid chewing on the instant noodle. "I feel something different."

Kang Xunsu immediately pulled out the zombie's teeth and Do Eunhyuk's mouth slacken as he went unconscious.

"Dad!" Do Wheein was alarmed and shook her father, only for Kim Sung-Ho to stop her.

"He should be fine. Let him wake up on his own after his fever comes down." That was what he learned from Vihaan's experience.

From what they could see, Do Eunhyuk's hair stopped turning white, as well as maintaining his current body mass. But strangely, Do Eunhyuk only has a slight increase in temperature, but not at the state where it could conclude he has a fever.

"Everyone has a different reaction, depending on their ability," Kang Xunsu said.

Ash immediately nodded. "Mr. Vihaan also went unconscious and the floor he was touching turned into ash! We could even see the soil underneath!"

Wong Xue Guo's ears perked. She had no idea if the soil could turn into ash, but that was interesting. Was that Vihaan's weakness or every ability user's weakness? Or was it a limitation of his ability?

She does not know what Vihaan had experimented with his ability, for she had never been interested in knowing since she herself does not have an ability. Now that her interest was aroused, she planned to ask once they returned to the lab.

Anyway, until Do Eunhyuk wakes up, they could not hundred percent confirm whether he really has that gene or not. They do not have a template to base on how a 'failure' would react.

Much to Do Wheein and Lee Su-Hwa's joy, Do Eunhyuk woke up feeling fine within half an hour. With unrestrained tears, they endlessly thanked Kang Xunsu and others, their hearts more sincere in repaying back their help.

"Father, how do you feel?"

Do Eunhyuk testingly moved his body and summarized, "I'm feeling fine, energized." They could also see his eyes were clearer, more awake, and full of energy compared to his previous state. He looked more intimidating now that he had shaken his fatigue, every part of him was a proud soldier ready for combat.

Lee Su-Hwa gasped when she checked Do Eunhyuk's wound. "His bleeding had stopped!"

Park Donghae nodded. "That's good, ah. We don't need to worry about doing blood transfusions if he continues losing blood."

"Are you sure Mr. Do really doesn't need a blood transfusion now?" Park Sungmin eyed Do Eunhyuk doubtfully as if expecting the man would suddenly faint from blood loss.

"He will have to be. We don't have any necessary medicine or equipment for it."

Do Eunhyuk insisted he was feeling fine but Lee Su-Hwa pushed him to eat one more instant noodle packet, indirectly shooting Kang Xunsu's heart painfully.

"Do you know what your ability is? You will need to familiarize yourself with it before coming back to our base," Kang Xunsu said in English, but catching some confused looks, he repeated again in mandarin.

L.L. had a bitter look, being one of the few that does not understand Mandarin. At least Park Donghae had his younger brother translate for him. Taking pity on him, Chen Yibo helped L.L., in which Oh Junghan also tried to eavesdrop on their conversation. The only one in the room that had zero understanding of the conversation was Kang Hansik who acted as if he did not care.

Do Eunhyuk could feel some changes in his body, but with regard to his ability? "I'm uncertain."

"What do you feel during your unconscious state?"

Do Eunhyuk frowned. "I remember the first time I shot my gun, and then the times when I'm out for duty."

"Your ability should be related to it!" Kim Sung-Ho gulped when all eyes were on him after his sudden exclamation. His back slightly hunched until his eyes were completely covered by his long bangs.

"Come on, don't be shy," Ash urged.

"Don't you know it too?"

Ash laughed at Kim Sung-Ho's mumble. "No way! You are more clear about Mr. Vihaan's state."

At Ash's encouragement, Kim Sung-Ho finally continued in a worshipping tone. "Uncle Vihaan had a dream of destroying the zombies with just a punch. He strongly wishes to remove the zombies, getting them out of the picture. Then he really could turn things into ashes!"

L.L. silently smiled at the young boy's worship tone.

"So that's how it is. Mr. Do, do you wish for something when you faint? Maybe something to do with guns?"

Do Eunhyuk pondered for a bit and then raised his remaining hand. Suddenly, an automatic rifle appeared in his hand seemingly out of nowhere.
