Chapter 78 - Does not want to kill a human yet

HAPPY TIGER YEAR 2022!

XG 78 - Does not want to kill a human yet

Man Jeong just laughed at her outburst and charged at her again. It was another round of chasing and her small slip up that had her hip hit the edge of the table earned her another cut at the upper arm from the madman.

She had to swing her sword in a wide arc around her to keep Man Jeong at bay. He was not annoyed, as the spark in his eyes grew intense from her bleeding wound.

Man Jeong was surprisingly a great opportunist in figuring out a person's weak spots and strong enough to use a blunt knife to cut through clothes.

"You are quite good to still have enough energy after killing so many monsters outside," Man Jeong praised, not caring if his latest prey does not understand him. As long as she understands she will be eaten by him and continues showing that weak and scared look, it already satisfies him.

Even with the language barrier, there was still universal body language. Wong Xue Guo could see this guy was not afraid of her at all and was even patiently wearing her down as if she was a stubborn pig!

If her mother was here, she would have easily dealt with this trashy guy!

This time, Wong Xue Guo had to peel off a few layers of her remaining morality. In a tired state, one would be surprised that they could lower their bottom line for survival.

After doing so, she waited until he attacked again to make her move. She bent forward and slashed Man Jeong's lower leg, sending him crashing to the floor with a loud groan. Not surprisingly, the feeling of cutting a living human was no different from cutting a recently turned zombie, but the feeling of doing so was completely different. With an edgy gulp, she raised her sword in ready as she faced the sprawled Man Jeong.

Man Jeong was clutching onto his bleeding leg gingerly, unable to stand up without falling down in pain again. "Ah, ah, ah, you bitch! You dare to cut me!"

Unfortunately, Wong Xue Gup does not understand what he was saying. Not that she cares either.

"See? It hurts when you get cut, right?" Wong Xue Guo sneered while controlling the tempo of her breath calmly. Her hands that were holding onto her sword were trembling, not knowing from exhaustion or from the choice she needed to make.

She pointed the sharp end of her sword at Man Jeong's face and ignored a bead of sweat rolling down her cheek.

Man Jeong trembled and did not dare to move with a blade pointing at him. His hand was slowly tightening around his knife and fork as he raised his gaze to look into his prey's eyes. "Heh, you think you can kill me?"

He had been eating humans for five years and he had not been caught even once. No one bothered with missing orphans that took up resources and he liked young meat, so he would not short charge himself.

When the human rabies infection spread throughout the world and everyone sought for shelter, Man Jeong could no longer kidnap orphans and had to seek new meat. The survivors hiding at the same place as him ended up being his new diet.

But eating those old meat was not palatable and he longed for children's flesh again. Thus he decisively entered the school base where there would be teenagers, but those teachers always kept an eye on the students. So he could only prey on the odd ones that like to remain by themselves and wait until he gets the chance to be with a kid alone.

Who would have thought today was an unexpected chance? Today was his lucky day to meet two young girls! No one in the base would suspect him! Such a rare chance, there was no way he would not let his food overpower him!

"You are a bad guy, but killing you will make me a bad guy." Wong Xue Guo sighed. "So I will do the lesser evil thing."

Before Man Jeong could attempt to change their position, Wong Xue Guo had already moved her sword and cut across his arm, drawing a wide, long line across his bare arm. Between a sharp sword and a blunt table knife, the former was still more lethal in delivering injury. The pain burst out forcefully and he immediately dropped his weapons.

"Argh!!!" Man Jeong clutched his injured arm, thrashing on the floor as he howled. But his movement interrupted the wound on his leg and he does not dare to move anymore to reduce the pain.

Wong Xue Guo stood still for a moment, her ears straining to catch any movement outside of the room. Only after confirming there was none did she return her attention back to the madman. "Sorry, but I don't know how to cut the tendon without murdering you. I'm not a science student or interested in human anatomy."

She swung her sword lightly, with the droplets of blood flung away from the blade, and her eyes fixated on Man Jeong's uninjured arm. She was thinking whether to do the same to his other arm but feared he would die from blood loss.

If she could, she does not want to kill a human yet until she has no choice but to do so.

"I don't have enough strength to break bones cleanly either..." Wong Xue Guo lamented before Man Jeong's crying face.

Although it was cruel, precaution was still necessary against this crazy man. Growing more indifferent, she slashed his other leg and watched him scream again before cursing her in Korean. The act of hurting someone was scary for the first time, but after the third time doing so, she was not as scared anymore.

Was it a good thing?

But it was still better than being a wimpy girl that had a weapon in her trembling hand but did not dare to use it.

Only after confirming he would not be going anywhere, she settled down at the least dirty corner and checked her wound. She definitely needed to disinfect them, with how gross he was at licking the silver knife.

It does not look deep, since her jacket had absorbed most of the attack. She was a little displeased that her jacket was torn, which was a gift from her father.

She had grown fond of it, even if it was red.

Her backpack was in the other room, so she had nothing clean to wrap her wound. She was a tiny bit lucky that two of her wounds were on the same arm.

There were clothes inside the closet, but her OCD side just shivered from the thought of pressing those clothing that was unknown whether they were decently clean or not to press onto her fresh wound. She had already done her best ignoring everything in this room or what she had stepped on the floor.

She was freaking grateful to not have tripped and fallen onto the ground.

For now, she could only ignore her fortunately light wounds and hope to reunite with her first aid kit inside her backpack in the other room.

Eying the silently whimpering Man Jeong, she kicked his weapons under the bed when he seemed to have forgotten about their existence. Fortunately for her, she had just remembered the weapon before she suffered from it.

Not possessing Kang Xunsu's bravery, she settled in knocking on the door, trying to catch anyone's attention. She was not afraid of getting a zombie's attention, because there was still a door and her group members were outside killing them.

Unfortunately, their team only has two walkie-talkies. One was with Ash and another on Kang Xunsu. Her wound was not so serious that she would risk danger and open the door to test her luck.

She knocked on the door in a rhythm and there was no response from outside. After knocking for quite some time with still nothing from the other side, she entertained the idea of going out.

But before that, she will have to tie up Man Jeong.

Still thinking about what to use as a makeshift rope, she turned her head back just in time to see him dragging his body somewhere. Her gaze turned cold and she kicked the wound on his leg. He groaned and glared at her, seemingly getting used to the pain.

Any longer, she would have to fight him again.

"Haish... do I really need to do something permanently damaging to you?" Her tone might sound reluctant, but her grip on her sword was steady and ready to inflict more damage.

He could be used to desensitize her. This world was no longer peaceful, and zombies were not her only enemies. She needs to be wary of humans as well.

Knowing that was different from facing it, and that fact had her body feel heavier as her heart became colder. Even if she was reluctant, she had to protect herself so that she could protect her parents.

A child that has grown up should learn to be sensible and share the burden of life with her parents.

"Hah," she laughed mockingly as she remembered she had scorned Chen Yibo for being a hero but here she was, being weak-hearted and reluctant to do things properly.
