XG 174 - A loyal subject to the Queen

The same situation happened to the other bitten males that were also cursed by Ari, creating a more chaotic situation inside the base.

"Xue Guo! Try to cover the female zombie's eyes! After that, remove your shadow from us!" Chen Yibo suggested and she immediately followed the plausible suggestion.

At the sudden blindness, Ari screamed in a high-pitched sound that had everyone wincing and rubbing their abused ears. Wong Xue Guo removed her shadow from everyone's eyes as Ari does not seem to be able to attack with her shadow firmly covering her eyes.

Once regained his vision, L.L quickly turned to where Kang Xunsu was. Fortunately Kang Xunsu, perhaps at a distance away from them, was not pulled into obeying the female zombie's word.

A warm hand suddenly clasped over Wong Xue Guo, nearly causing her to jump out of her skin.

"Let's use our ability together," Chen Yibo said.

She could feel his energy mixed with hers, coexisting harmoniously that seemed rather intimate. Distracted by the feeling, she did not stop Chen Yibo from taking the lead, allowing him to borrow her ability.

He spoke straight into Ari's mind. "Stop."

Chen Yibo could hear Ari's mind, albeit like a broken channel with statics interfering with the connection. As she could still think, it means she still has her own consciousness and would be susceptible to mind manipulation.

"You have your own mind. You should know what you are doing is wrong."

Ari could not see anything, and her ability could not do its job when she could not see. It was as if the entire world had lost its sun, where she had always felt that way under Duljjae's torture. ["What the hell is this?"]

"Stop what you are doing," Chen Yibo repeated.

["Get out of my head, creep!"] Ari screamed in her head, more emotional than her current facial appearance could express.

"It does not work," Chen Yibo said worriedly.

"Let me try." It was easier for Wong Xue Guo to search for Chen Yibo's energy for the second time and follow its path to the female zombie.

Just like Chen Yibo, she was surprised that the female zombie's mind was just like a normal person's. She stayed a bit longer and easily discovered she was a bitter, man-hating person that would drag everyone down to hell just to release her pent-up hatred for men.

["Why did you come to Musihada?"]

It was good that the female zombie answered honestly without delay, but the content caused Wong Xue Guo to frown heavily.

Even her trip to the Musihada base was linked to her hatred of men. There were plenty of unreasonable excuses for her to justify her actions and blame it on others, just because they did not 'save' her.

The last point was enough for Wong Xue Guo to put this female zombie on the 'non-redeemable' list. She had done what she could by offering an alliance to help the survivors which Duljjae did not appreciate. Did Ari expect her to pull out her sword and slay Duljjae's group when they have no personal grudge? Or even benefit from doing so?

I'm not a self-sacrificing saintess!

If Ari had done something to grab their attention and begged for help, that would be a different story. But she had not seen Ari before from the start till the end!

... Well, not that she had been actively peeping into the sleazy tents with R-rated sounds coming from them.

But it was a disreputable fact that Ari was too dangerous to be left alone.

"Kill yourself. You don't need me to teach you how don't you?"

Chen Yibo's eyes snapped to Wong Xue Guo in disbelief. "What are you saying?"

It was hard to notice, but the female zombie was behaving the same way as Kang Xunsu when he was under mind manipulation. With a glazed gaze, Ari raised her hands, revealing her skinny hands and dry yellow nails. Under everyone's eyes, Ari crudely pierced into her chest and gorged out her beating heart.

It was skin-crawling to watch Ari offering her heart to Wong Xue Guo like a loyal subject to the Queen.

"Ah, silly me. I could have tried absorbing her," Wong Xue Guo belatedly realized. It was the identity of the zombie boss that stopped her mind from thinking that. Her narrow-minded thought had allowed the female zombie to kill more people.

Her shadow was strong enough to be able to grab things now and accepted the unnatural glowing red beating heart, brighter than any hearts she had seen from zombies.

Right after she accepted the heart, Ari fell to her knees and stopped breathing. The slow-moving zombies abruptly stopped moving, but not the newly made zombies that were also cursed by Ari. But now that the number of enemies was reduced and they no longer needed to be afraid of being cursed, the males that were hiding could finally come out to join the fight again.

"Why did you kill her?" Chen Yibo asked, unable to conceal his dejection.

"Why do you not want to kill her?"

"She could think-"

"Think what? How to kill all males and destroy Musihada? What about those men she had killed? What will you tell their family after letting go of that zombie who killed their father, their brother, or their lover? There's no benefit in letting her live when there's no way to control her. Her ability is too dangerous."

"She could have a second chance. She could change."

"Sure, but for how long could she maintain her new change? There's no guarantee, and it's better safe than sorry to eliminate an uncontrollable factor that could kill us all."

Ending the conversation, Wong Xue Guo walked away to join others to kill the immobile zombies. Chen Yibo stared at Ari's corpse sadly, and through her, seeing the 'him' in the future that Aunt Suzie had seen.

Does that version of him also look like this?

"She's right." L.L joined him to look at the female corpse. "A sane zombie with an urge to destroy humankind is dangerous." Her actions till now had smeared her track record until it was unrecoverable. No matter what her reason is, she had left behind a deep fear in everyone's hearts.

"L.L!" Kang Xunsu's yell quickly had the duo whip their heads around.

Nana was supporting the fainted Wong Xue Guo, with a black heart on the ground beside her.

In a part of the city in Korea, there were numerous dead corpses and skeletons piled up into a few tiny mountains. It was a similar picture to a mountain of garbage.

Truly ironic, for humans corpses ended up being piled up in the same way they piled up garbage.

Jasmine was controlling the slow-moving zombies to dig out the hearts of other zombies when she sensed something. "Huh... she died."

Her new underling had not done anything useful and just died like that? What a waste.

"Luckily you only send heartless zombies for your little servant to use," a little boy with eyes that a kid could never have commented idly, waving his legs back and forth, seated on a stool.

"I have a nicer body provided for you. Stop using children's bodies. It's disgraceful."

"No way. A kid's body is more impactful than an adult's when I commit violence," the boy, also known as Ghost to a few people due to his ability. "Speaking of violence... looks like you failed to kill that prophecy girl too."

Ghost looked way too happy for Jasmine to fail as well.

The pink lady, the creepy twins, thousand faces, Jasmine and Ghost, that makes six of them had failed to kill one girl. The Lord will be very disappointed with them, but thinking that there were others accompanying his failure, Ghost was much more relaxed.
