XG 163 - You are the one prophesied to be my equal?

Wong Xue Guo's heart moved after hearing Kenneth's complaint about his ability. Would her shadow be able to provide some upgrade to whatever Kenneth wanted?

But there's a problem.

When she accidentally did it with Miu, her shadow was plastered all over Mr Rabbit and Miu was also touching the soft toy for her ability to work. So, their ability had made contact with one another.

However, her shadow could not reach up to the sky to touch Kenneth's thunder! Could it be replaced by skin contact between the ability users instead, or having her shadow doing the skin contact?

Thinking that Wong Xue Guo was interested in the gun, Kenneth offered, "Miss Wong, you can't try it now. We still need to run some testing. Once we are sure that it's safe, we will let you play with it."

Really, I don't have that desire.

"... Thank you for your offer, but I think it will be better for me not to try anything that I do not know of."

Mamoru started charging the gun, watching the power level indicator rise. "It takes quite a while to hit a hundred percent and it can't shoot before charging to full capacity."

"Let's test the output first and how many times one round consists. Then we will decide whether to modify that area or not."

While it would be interesting to watch what their gun could do, their determination to contribute their ability to eradicate the zombies had renewed her motivation. It was shallow of her to persist in thinking that her shadow was useless without trying hard, or that being timid in thinking it would harm other ability users' health even if her shadow could possibly increase the strength of their ability.

She had been rather narrow-minded!

Who is to say that her shadow only affected Awakened people?

In her logic, the zombies have the Alpha gene, only that their bodies were overwhelmed with the amount and turned into flesh-eating monsters when they could not handle it.

Let's just hope that even if my shadow brought some reaction from the zombies, it would weaken them instead of helping them become powerful zombies.

There was no need to ask Do Eunhyuk to spare a zombie for her because he does not have the luxury to. There were so many zombies charging forward that he did not have enough time to stop them.

They really need to launch a strong attack and took out a large number of zombies before their gates and wall collapse!

Her shadow still could not reach the wall, so she had no choice but to step closer to the wall.

Waiting below the tower, Nana immediately followed her when she climbed down, along with Smoker that would never leave his girlfriend alone. Wong Xue Guo slipped to the side fence where they had not built an extra wall yet. Judging from the distance, it would not be long before the zombies discover the weak spot of their base's defence.

Nana and Smoker could guess what the young miss wanted to do and did not react when she grabbed a zombie's attention with a small 'hey'.

Like an excited dog, the summoned zombie's head whipped in her direction and hurriedly approached her. It launched to tackle her, only for the electric fence to stop it from invading Wong Xue Guo's personal space. The power of the electric fence did no damage to a raging skeleton wearing only pants that were miraculously held up by a belt, so it was only the fence itself that hold back the zombie.

Nana and Smoker had already pulled out their gun, pointing them at the zombie as a precaution.

Luckily its movement did not grab other zombies' attention, so Wong Xue Guo has the time to pay more attention to its appearance.

Its gender could not be identified at all.

Almost eighty percent of their flesh was gone, with only a bunch of hair left. This could be one of the first batches of 'Failures' being created. Its bone was pristine white and there was no overly strong rotting smell, saving her nose from the abuse. She had forgotten to put on a face mask and it would be a waste of time to run back to her room to grab one.

With this close, her shadow easily crept onto the zombie, covering its white bones in black. There were no other changes, and it was a good thing that the zombie was not enraged for being covered by her shadow.

A flash of disappointment struck her heart even when she had already accepted this could be a possible outcome.

Still, she did not retract her shadow and let it continue roaming over the skeleton, just as her eyes went to the very distracting bloody red beating heart. It was the only organ with such a vivid colour, and following the master's thoughts, the shadow crept toward the heart

Strangely, her mind compared the bright red heart to a fruit, fully ripe to be plucked and eaten.

Throat suddenly feeling dry, she smacked her repulsive desire of suddenly wanting to take a bite of that seemingly juicy 'fruit'. Why would she think it would spill refreshing liquid once she sunk her teeth into it?

The only liquid she would taste once she did that was blood!

Disgusted, yet unable to control the strange visual that was going on in her mind, her heart gradually followed the zombie's heartbeat. The more her heartbeat synchronized with the zombie's heart, the more unfocused her sight became. It was the same feeling she got when her shadow entered Mr Rabbit, where she was able to see two different views at the same time.

She let her shadow continue the process to see what would be the experience of possessing a zombie. Could she communicate with other zombies? Or control it to fight its own 'comrades' as a double agent?

Wong Xue Guo's eyes were still staring at the zombie's heart that was covered by her shadow. Surprisingly, another part of her consciousness was not looking out from the zombie's eyes like she had thought, but somewhere else entirely. What she could see was only ice, eloping everywhere around 'her'.

Am I inside an iceberg?

Just as she wondered where she was and whose eyes she was seeing from, her mind strangely got the knowledge that it was the 'Lord's' eyes she was seeing through, just as the 'Lord' noticed her and saw what she was seeing.

Why...?

Why would I be linked to him?!

How does the zombie have any sort of connection to the Lord?!

And why was it so easy to connect to the enemy's big boss?!

Panicking, she tried to do anything to stop this connection. But she could not pull out her shadow from the zombie's heart! Her shadow morphed like a thrashing curtain and lashing out at the heart to break free, just as her body staggered backwards as if doing so would help distance them.

But no matter what she did, the link was still strongly connected.

"You are the one prophesied to be my equal?" The Lord sounded amused. "You will come to my lair to challenge me?"

No. I don't dare.

She was still weak, her ability still mostly unknown and she did not know her enemy's ability at all.

He also knew it, feeling her fear and enjoying it. In his eyes, she was just a cub that did not know the reality of the world. There was no need to take her seriously at all no matter what her ability was.

Just like this was enough to scare her? How weak. "I heard you are in a laboratory in the east?"

Shit! He was trying to gather information from her!
