Chapter 152 - Today isn't the day I will die

XG 152 - Today isn't the day I will die

In the beginning, Suzie Yap's speed was very much worse than Master Sheng's. But as time passed, she noticeably sped up, overworking her body muscles until they could match with Master Sheng.

"What's the use of us fighting when we have the same goal?" Master Sheng asked as if he was sincerely puzzled.

"Do you think a mother would be happy with the plan of sacrificing her daughter?" Suzie Yap snapped. She worked hard to punch that hateful face, but most of it was dodged and even if some landed, it failed to bother Master Sheng even the slightest.

"I had allowed you to punch me to relieve your anger. What else do you want?" Master Sheng asked when Suzie Yap continued charging forward like an angry bull, with Charles Wong trying to restrain his movement with metal. "There is no time for us to have meaningless fights."

"I want your life!"

"I will have to disappoint you. Today isn't the day I will die," Master Sheng informed.

Master Sheng lightly touched Suzie Yap's wrist and changed the direction of her incoming fist. After that, he invaded her personal space and punched her solar plexus.

It was only after that punch did Suzie Yap realized she had underestimated Master Sheng's strength. He was good at martial arts, with high flexibility and agility. Not only that, the strength of his punch could actually break something.

Luckily for her, she has a tough body with high pain tolerance... and a fast retaliator.

She grabbed his arm and mercilessly crushed it with all her strength, and finally succeeded in holding him in place. "For your information, I did succeed in breaking your 'fortune telling'."

Metal poles broke out from the ground and stabbed through Master Sheng's lower legs before they curled around the length of his legs to lock him. Next, more metal poles emerged from the ground and did the same thing to Master Sheng's arms.

A small piece of metal floated to Suzie Yap as it morphed into a knife, which she grabbed without looking. It was through years of mutual understanding and teamwork between the couple that they could achieve this level of synergy. "You had really forced me to move around quite a bit."

Master Sheng suddenly laughed, even when he was in a dire situation. "My prediction is always accurate."

It was a great shock when the image of Master Sheng being tied up disappeared like an illusion. What they actually caught was just empty air!

The incoming wind from below had her body instinctively move, and it reduced some impact when a clearly uninjured Master Sheng hit her torso with his palm.

Feeling her airway was still blocked even after she choked out some blood, she had her husband switch place with her so that she could have the time to heal herself. Charles Wong fiercely attacked Master Shen and no longer created bullets, but cannon balls. His attacks succeeded in creating some distance between them, and the accumulation of his attacks destroyed the wine cellar completely.

Even the floor above was not allowed to escape, and some unfortunate person had fallen off.

When Charles Wong suddenly saw his daughter that should not be here suddenly appeared out of nowhere, he knew it was done by Master Sheng. They had assumed Fortune Teller Sheng's ability was the prediction of a person's death, but clearly, that was not the case. There were no records of an Awaken person having two different abilities, so Fortune Teller Sheng's fortune telling was a skill he learned.

Seems like Fortune Teller Sheng was not a complete quack.

Only sparing brief attention to destroying his fake daughter with a cannon ball, he searched for Master Sheng that had disappeared from view just as the fake illusion started.

"Father, do you hate me?"

Charles Wong's eyebrows knitted and turned to face his injured 'daughter' with a sad expression on her face. Seeing as he could not even sense where Master Sheng was, he suspected he had morphed into his daughter's appearance.

That knowledge alone was disgusting enough.

"You never wanted me, right?" His 'daughter' slowly limped towards him, before fiercely jerking backwards when another cannonball hits her.

But that did not stop the illusion.

With her shoulder bent at an awkward angle, she continue making her way toward him with an even more noticeable limp. "Mother insisted on living at Marigold just to let me have a normal life. You resented me for taking mother away, right?"

"What a waste of time," Charles Wong muttered indifferently and sent another cannonball at his fake daughter.

The cannonball smashed at her head, leaving behind a deep den on it, while the force from the throw had snapped her neck. It still failed to break the illusion, because the girl that would have died from that injury in reality, but was still standing before him.

With the help of her hands, she gingerly moved her head to face Charles Wong. "Is that why you would tell mother to cut off her emotional ties with me? With the reason that I'm going to die young anyway? Father, aren't you angry that your plan failed when I did not die as fate said I should? You had been feeling a little happy knowing that I will die young and you can still be happy. No one will blame you... for agreeing to let me be the bait."

The smile on 'Wong Xue Guo' looks rather creepy, like a doll that was being forced to smile widely.

The frown between Charles Wong's eyebrows became even more prominent and he took out his gun from his holster. "You talk too much."

He shot in a direction far away from his fake daughter, and the bullet started morphing into a long and thin stick before impaling the hiding Master Sheng.

The surprise attack succeeded in revealing Master Sheng, but the illusion of Wong Xue Guo was still there. "Father, why can't you love me?"

Stepping forward, Master Sheng echoed the same question. "Why can't you love your own daughter? Yes, there are some fathers that acted that way. They just don't love their own children. So why are you disagreeing with having your daughter as the bait... to protect your beloved mother?"

During the entire eighteen years, there was barely any interaction between the father and daughter. Before Fortune Teller Sheng dropped the bomb, Suzie Yap had been creating opportunities to have them bond by dropping their baby daughter into his arms and forcing him to take care of her while she enjoy her shopping trip.

Suzie Yap knew very well that Charles Wong only accepted having a child with her because she wanted children.

No one knows if those short moments worked but after the prediction, Suzie Yap stopped forcing her husband to care for their daughter. Even she herself started distancing herself from her precious daughter, who was then passed to a nanny to be taken care of most of the time.

Charles Wong knew that Wong Xue Guo wanted his attention and love, but he only ever loved his wife, with the remaining affection left for his mother. There was just not enough space, or willingness in his heart, to spare some of his love for his daughter.

If she had more similarities to Suzie Yap, perhaps he would have more affection towards her. But alas, her appearance resembled him more.

The one big thing he had done that could be said to be done from a father's love for his daughter was starting a pharmaceutical company. The company had secretly researched the Alpha gene behind the public's eye, in hopes to have at least some chance in prevent her death when the time comes.
