Chapter one
I clutched my necklace in my hand. It glowed around people sometimes and it draws attention. Step by step the faint glow grew brighter as I stopped in front of a boy about my height (5'7) . He had ruffled dark blue hair that was as close to night blue than I had ever seen. He had dark brown eyes and pink lips. His skin was a light tone with a hint of tan coming in. He wore a hoodie that said "Protect the night" with a moon shining down on the letters. He wore baggy blue jeans and black converse. "Um..... why are you staring at me?" The unknown boy asked me. I felt my cheeks grow hot. I tried to hide my face with my pastel blue hair. Come on Faith, Shadow Guardians don't act like this. "What?" I said coming to the real world. "Nothing, miss...?" He gestured, wanting to know my name. "Faith." I answered quickly. I felt my necklace on my collar bone. It comforted me, rubbing my hand across the smooth metal. I felt his burning gaze fall on me again. I suddenly felt all awkward. Pull yourself together. I mentally screamed at myself. "No need to yell." The unnamed boy smiled. "Waaa, but but, only Shadow Guardians can do that." I whispered. "Don't over look things." He smiled. He looked up at the moon shining above. "I must return to my duty, and so should you, Miss Faith." He called as starry wings shot out of his back and he flew away. Wow dramatic much. I mentally whispered to myself. I rolled my eyes and my wings popped out of my back. I flew up towards the moon and rested myself on a cloud. Gah, bad idea, I got soaked. I stood up quickly any took off. My shift was on full moons and Mondays, only. I flew freely, up and down, loopdeloops. It was nice to escape from school once in a while. I was an angel, in some ways. I was a starry angel, instead of white wings, I had night blue wings with stars specked in them. I soared above, my light blue hair streaking behind me. I laughed into the empty night. I could never get over how amazing this was. The nights that I did have shift were always the best, meeting new recruits, and hanging around with my best friends. My mom had shift tomorrow. My dad didn't know about us and our immortality. I fear the day when he does find out. If he does, it won't be good, I can sense it. I looked to the east, dawn was starting to break. I zoomed down to my house almost crashing into the ceiling. I retracted my wings and creaked the door open, mum was standing there. "Thank Luna you're safe." She said, relived. I rolled my eyes. "Why wouldn't I be safe, nothing would dare try to take the night without us knowing." I said proudly. "Well go to your room, your father is waking up for work, and you have to go to school." Oh yeah. I thought. Let's go to the one place I feel captivated. School.
I walked into the doors at school. I breathed in the stuffy air and coughed. I loved school, but, I didn't like the stuffy air. I had constantly asked my teacher if I could open the window next to my desk, but she had said it was unsafe. I had argued with her about how cramped and stuffy it was, so I have detention today. I groaned as I walked down the hall into Mrs.Jacksons room. Eyes burned into me as I walked to my corner. There was a boy in my seat. "You're in my seat." I said. He looked up, it was the blue haired boy. "I don't see your name on it, Miss." He stared at me coldly. I sighed. "Well, it will be written in your blood if you don't get up." I whispered. I heard a shifting of seats as students backed up, they had heard me. He got up and whispered "Nice." And walked to the next seat over, and sat down. The teacher came up to me and pinched me, I didn't even wince. "We don't threaten students, especially if they are new." She let go of me. She went to the front of the room, smiled, and motioned for the blue haired boy to come up to the front. He sighed and got up grudgingly. He walked to the front, a slight limp in his walk. "We have a new student in class, can you tell us your name?" The teacher looked at him. He looked down uncomfortably. "I don't tell people my name, I want to keep it secret, I don't feel comfortable enough." He said quietly. "O-Okay." The teacher stuttered. He was instantly swarmed with questions as he sat down. I walked over, everyone instantly returned to their seats. Works every time. I thought sadly. Thanks, mate. I heard the blue haired boy whisper in my mind. I glanced at him, he was hiding under his hood. I could see the faint glimmer of his eyes. I smiled and turned back to the teacher.
It was my moms shift now, she was leaving. I heard the slam of the door, and an oops from outside, I laughed. She is so forgetful. I decided to get some sleep, even though I was pure adrenaline. A burst of energy shot through me. It was unlike any energy I had ever experienced. It felt like in a techno song when the beat drops epically. I suddenly felt tired and droopy. I hated when that happened. You feel all happy and suddenly you feel like someone just killed your kitten. My kitten was resting on my bed now. I snapped my fingers and appeared in my bedroom. My dad had always questioned my pure love of the night. I told him that it was natural for me. From then on my mom had told me to not answer questions like that, ever, again. The walls in my room were navy blue with a occasional white splatter of paint. I smiled and almost fell on Luna, my new kitten. She meowed in disapproval. "I'm sorry Luna, I'm just feeling more tired than usual." I said to her. She dipped her head and got up. She jumped into my shoulder, kneading it. She then jumped down onto my bed, kneading once again. I sat, gladly, on my bed. I laid down and swung my legs onto my bed, and fell asleep.
