"Demon"
"Hey!" A girl shouted, smirking towards Shade.
Shade didn't answer, or even look up.
"Hey! Hey, demon!"
Shade let out a quiet breath and glared at the girl.
"Oh, good, I have your attention. I was just wondering, what's with the scar on your arm?"
Shade looked at his arm. Then, looking up, he said "It's from trying to jump a fence and failing."
This of course was a lie. The scar was from his mother when she found out he was trying to get some bread from the kitchen about a month ago. Shade knew it was definitely his fault; if he had ignored the hunger clawing at his insides, he wouldn't have gotten burnt.
"Wow. For someone with shadow magic, I'd have expected you to be better at parkour."
Shade stood, then jumped to the top of the playground equipment, running along every surface he could with incredible balance and eventually landing on the ground. "I am. I just lost my balance because a bird dive-bombed me."
The bully snickered. "A cat, bullied by a bird? Wow, you're so weak."
"Shut up, Allison," Shade muttered. He felt his tail twitch slightly.
"Why should I? After all, you're a demon. You don't deserve the silence."
Shade felt his ears beginning to lay flat against his head, and his tail was now swishing back and forth. "I know I don't. Just leave me be." Quickly, Shade melted into the shadow of a tree to wait for Allison to leave.
She didn't.
Eventually, the bell rang, and Shade jumped out of the shadow to go in with the rest of the class.
Inside, the teacher had them all sit and do color time, where they got to draw pictures. The teacher's name was Mr. Scott, and he was a werewolf with yellow eyes and brown fur.
Shade began to color. Soon, he finished his picture.
In the picture, he was with his siblings in a meadow. His parents were at the bottom of a lake, and he and the twins were sitting around a campfire.
Eventually, Mr. Scott stopped color time. "Okay, put your pictures away, it is time for math."
Math was easy.
As everyone else puzzled over counting, Shade was trying to figure out what 35*17 was.
"I have 35 different kinds of thread I can manipulate, and each costs 17 bits. Five times seven is thirty-five, five times ten is fifty. Thirty times seven is two hundred-ten, thirty times ten is three hundred. That is 35+50+210+300, which will be 595, so I need 595 bits. I already have 463 since my last count. 595-463 is 132, so I need 132 more bits to be able to make that capture scarf... Mr. Scott, I have the answer."
Mr. Scott turned to his student. "Okay Aiden, what is it?"
Shade sighed quietly. "Please just call me Shade. The answer is 132 bits."
"Very good. And I'm sorry, but your name in my attendance is Aiden, so that is the name I will use."
Shade sighed quietly. Aiden's what my parents call me...
Wiggling slightly in his chair, Shade sighed again. He looked at the clock, willing it to go faster. Just a few more minutes.
Eventually, after what felt like hours, the bell rang. Shade grabbed his backpack and ran out of the school to his house.
His house was in the bad side of town. The windows had dark curtains, and the door had two locks on it. Shade hoped he had gotten home in time; if he hadn't, he wouldn't get dinner.
Quietly opening the door, Shade crept inside and silently closed the door behind himself. Creeping into his tiny room which had two new occupants, he put his bag under his bed and walked over to the crib, where the twins were playing. Shade eventually climbed in with them to play.
The twins were a boy and a girl. They both had dark grey hair. The girl's left eye was red and her right eye was green, and the boy's left eye was green and his right eye was red.
"Hey, Taylor. Hey, Ty."
Taylor climbed onto Shade's lap. Ty followed after a couple of seconds. The three played peek-a-boo until Shade heard the door slam shut.
Mom and Dad are home.
Jumping out of the crib, Shade sat on his bed and pretended to be reading. His mother slammed open the door. Taking the twins, she motioned for Shade to come with her. He got up and quietly followed her. His head was down, and he didn't want to look up, knowing that as soon as she saw his eyes, she would make an unkind remark.
He sat down at the table as his mother put the twins into high chairs. His father came in, looking angry as usual.
Glaring at Shade, he growled, "Stop telling people to call you Shade. We named you Aiden. This little rebellion of yours is going to get you into big trouble."
Shade just stared blankly at the table.
"Look at me when I'm talking to you!" Shade's father slapped him, causing Shade to almost fall out of his seat. Looking up, Shade flinched as his father jabbed him in the chest. "You better remember this."
Shade held back the urge to run away, knowing this would only make the man in front of him angrier.
"Here's your food," his mother said, handing everyone food. Shade's father backed off for the moment.
If I can eat fast enough, maybe I can escape to the park, Shade thought. He quickly ate all of his food, and as soon as he had his dish in the sink, he quickly left, silently creeping outside.
The sun was beginning to set, and the cold winds of autumn blew around him. He didn't care.
Absentmindedly rubbing his cheek where he had been hit, Shade walked to the park and sat on the swing. I'll sleep out here tonight.
Later, at about midnight...
Shade woke with a start. He had always been a light sleeper, and if anything sounded wrong, he would wake up. It began with the familiar pain in his chest, then he began to have a coughing fit.
Eventually, he managed to cough up the blood that had drained into his lung. Spitting it out, he groaned. Suddenly, he heard rustling in a nearby bush.
Quickly standing up, Shade used magic to create a small sword and shield to defend himself with. What is it? A villain? A pedophile? Maybe it's just a stray?
Then, something big came out of the bush. Shade felt his heart stop when he saw what it was.
Standing at three meters tall was a shade. It stared down at him with intelligent eyes, hungry eyes.
Eyes filled with bloodlust.
"Come here, tiny creature. Come, allow me to feast."
Shade backed up, then turned and tried to run but was quickly kicked to the ground and pinned by the creature.
"Hush now, this will take only a few seconds."
The horrible creature was seconds from eating Shade when suddenly it was hit in the face by a red and blue blur.
The blur was a small cat-sized dragon.
"Leave my friend alone!"
The shade hissed in fury and ran into the woods. "Don't think we won't meet again. You're important, and the boss wants me to kill you."
With that, the shade left.
"Enyanaida, thank you."
The dragon shifted into a boy who was Shade's age. "It's no problem. Why are you out here at night?"
"Reasons I would rather not discuss."
Enyanaida stared at Shade. "You have a bruise forming on your cheek."
Shade groaned on the inside. Great. Now people are gonna ask questions.
Enyanaida sighed. "Come on, let's get you somewhere safer. You never know what could happen in the dark."
"Anything that could happen in the light." Shade responded. Enyanaida sighed again, but a small smile played on his lips. Pulling Shade along, the dragon boy made it to his own house with Shade.
"Okay, sit here and tell me what happened."
Shade looked at the floor, subconsciously hiding his face in his scarf. "I got in a fight with some dude, he punched me and this happened."
"No, you don't get into fights. I know you're not that kind of person. What really happened?"
Shade looked away from his friend completely. "None of your business," he muttered.
Enyanaida stared at Shade for a moment, then sighed again. "I'll let it slide this time." Healing Shade, Enyanaida pointed at the couch. "You know, if you ask Mom or Dad, I'm sure they'll let you stay here for as long as you want."
Shade thought about it, but then he thought about the twins. "Sorry, but no thank you. I'll stay the night, but nothing longer than that." After a second, he added, "Thanks, Enya. I appreciate it."
Enyanaida nodded. "Anytime."
As Shade slipped into sleep, his mind wandered to how in Death's Lake he was going to get his backpack.

Sorry.
I haven't been that active, and I'm loosing interest in my other books. I will put those on hiatus. I am so very sorry.
Anyway, here's a story about a character that I've been building for a while now. I wanted to write out his life story so that I could refer to it during role plays.
Oh, and please don't complain about the abuse thing, because if you had read the description, you could have avoided it. (But if you want to complain about the parents, go ahead.)
This is my first time actually writing a character like this, so please bear with me. I'll do my best to make the story a good story. Anyway, if you liked it, then thank you, if you didn't like it the please tell me what was wrong! Have a nice day/morning/afternoon/evening/night/midnight! Bye!
