0.8: Long-Awaited Meetings & Nonstop Doubting

Ryu met up with Beomgyu soon enough. It has been two weeks since Beomgyu came to live with the family he wasn't ever made aware of. "Will I be expected to spell myself to my room ?", Beomgyu asked. He had been thinking. Ryu mentioned many of the Jade Faction members willingly spell themselves in their rooms, but that they all had natural training. "Of course not, Beomgyu. Great grandmother is the only one who'd be willing to see you. Everyone else hasn't been seen in years."

Sun-Hi & Sooyeon' grandmother was still alive and still seemed heavily involved with the Jade Faction. Tae-Da was the daughter of Kwon In-Su, so she had more motivation for the modern teachings for younger members of their family. Teachings In-Su had put in place for their family going forward. Ryu absolutely adores hearing stories about In-Su. As most did, given they wouldn't have had any interaction with In-Ho.

"Can I go see her ?" Beomgyu was honestly intrigued. Ryu grinned hugging him, "I'll take you to her." Tae-Da sat by her window. Her mind racing. Sooyeon didn't blame Tae-Da from preventing her to attend the institute, but that didn't mean that Tae-Da wasn't feeling a bit guilty. It never is easy crushing the dreams of any child. Giving them complete freedom, but then take it away within reason... to protect them.

Isn't that what anyone wanted ? To protect their family ?

----------------------------------------------

Kwon In-Su' Trial Aftermath...

Because of what In-Su had accidentally done. He was basically banned from ever entering the institute' walls again. For the degree of his crimes, (the accidental murders of a few students...turned them to ash, sorry.) In-Su regularly would've been sent straight to death. Pureblood status alone is why he was pardoned.

Their father stood with In-Ho. "Say it. Say what you are thinking, Dad." In-Su could tell that their father was trying to remain calm. "오늘부터, 당신은 멀리 떨어져 있을 거예요. 다시는 이런 위험을 무릅쓰지 않겠어요, 인수아." (From this day forth, you'll stay away. I will not risk this happening again, In-Su ah.) Their father didn't share the gift, but he was well aware of it.

In-Su didn't get to protest. Their home was split in half. Those with the gift moved to the outskirts of Monzara, & those without the gift remained in town peacefully.  A sigh was exchanged between them before In-Ho spoke up, "I am sorry things have to be this. I never intended--"

In-Su cut his brother off. He was absolutely furious. Never intended ? "안 돼요! 또 다른 거짓말은 듣고 싶지 않아요, 인호! 내가 당신을 용서할 거라고 생각하시다니... (No ! I don't want to hear another lie come from you, In-Ho ! I can't believe you think I'd forgive your for this...) You are dead to me. Never come back here. I don't want to see you." Their mother didn't interject. Her glowing green eyes just unfortunately watched as her sons had their final conversation. The Jade Faction had their family now, & they had theirs.

In-Ho was lead away & In-Su never turned to check on him one last time...

--------------------------------------------------------

Ryu pointed at a wonderfully decorated bedroom door. "Great grandmother Tae-Da is inside here... She hasn't been out of her room since your mother left for the institute, so tread carefully." Beomgyu couldn't deny that he was completely nervous. He was meeting his great grandmother right now.

Would she recognize him ? Would she ask him to leave ? Would she love him unconditionally ? So many questions & doubts swirled in his head. Soon he was alone in front of the door. With on deep breath he knocked before entering. He was expecting to see a woman in a knitting chair and light music playing with a sweet smile.

Beomgyu' idea of Tae-Da was so wrong. She looked no older than her mid twenties, warm smile, many plants covered the room, & she sat by a open window happily. A cool breeze wafting through the room. A locket around her neck underneath the vial full of a green misty breath. "증조할머니 태다씨? 만나서 반가워요. 저는 당신의 증손자인 최범규입니다." (Great grandmother Tae-Da ? Um, nice to meet you. I am Choi Beomgyu, your great grandson...) He introduced himself a bit awkwardly.

Tae-Da turned to him with a smile he had never received from anyone. Her smile was full of love and sadness. "Oh, sorry. You just look so much like him...It brought up memories." Beomgyu crossed the room taking a seat by her. "Who do I look like ?" Tae-Da opened her locket to show him, "My father. You look like my father." Beomgyu looked at the photo in shock. The photo was old, but easily you could distinguish it as a picture of Beomgyu.

"What's his name ?" Just as quickly as the locket opened, it closed. (Kwon In-Su. That was his name.) After learning about In-Su, Beomgyu was very much understanding why Tae-Da still seemed a bit reserved. "I came here since my mother said this would be the best place for me..."

Tae-Da knew why he was here. Sooyeon had told her everything. "범규아, 다 알아요. 부담 갖지 마세요. (I know everything, Beomgyu ah. Don't feel pressured.) I love you. You're family." Currently Beomgyu' eyes weren't the family' glowing green. He felt absolutely shattered. Was there something wrong with him ?

He has learned so much, & now he felt left out. What if he never would truly manifest the gift ? Tae-Da grabbed his hands, holding them in hers. Things were silent between them for a bit. Beomgyu soon spoke up, "What if I don't have the gift ? What's wrong with me ?"

It broke her heart to see Beomgyu so stressed over it. "We'll do a ritual, Beomgyu ah. I believe you have the gift. It will just take a bit of help for it to truly manifest, okay ?"

That was it. He just needed to have faith that whatever ritual they were to perform would work, right ?
